A Three-Ring Wizard may attempt advancement with the Elemental Vision alchemy array, which provides abundant Magic Power and briefly allows entry into the Elemental World. The array is only an aid; advancement has no shortcut, and failure can cause prolonged mental exhaustion or mental collapse 302.

The formerly used potion Cynthia's Moonlight temporarily increased a wizard's Mental Power limit, but it was banned due to its severe consequences when an advancement attempt failed 302.

Sixth-ring Great Wizard was historically considered the highest realm a human could attain. The title “Legendary” was once applied to Great Wizards who possessed power beyond that limit through unusual means, rather than denoting a stable advancement stage 385 474.

Domains and Force Fields

Great Wizards possess the Mental Power and Magic Power necessary to construct a personal Domain around themselves.

• A Domain enables large-scale influence over the surrounding environment and supports advanced spellcasting 535.
• Great Wizards can use force-field magic and manipulate most elements 567.
• Their Domains may be adapted into techniques such as vacuum fields and slow fields 338.

Elemental Manipulation

Compared with Official Wizards, Great Wizards have substantially greater precision and scope in elemental control.

• Official Wizards can arrange and combine elements, but cannot normally shatter molecules or atoms 64.
• Fourth-ring Advanced Material Deconstruction and Seventh-ring Great Disintegration Spell mark the thresholds associated with Great Wizard and Legendary advancement respectively 64.
• Great Wizards can conduct complex chemical transformations rather than only simple elemental arrangements 567.

Combat Power

Great Wizards are regarded as decisive high-level combatants.

• Fifth-circle spells are considered capable of causing widespread destruction, while Great Wizards are described as able to stand alone against an army 56.
• Great Wizard-level combat commonly relies on concealed trump-card spells, as known spell mechanics can be studied and countered by enemies 370.
• Their power remains far below that of a true Legendary Wizard; after gaining an Energy Body, Vittorio easily defeated several Great Wizards simultaneously 476.

Reclassification of Legendary Wizards

Vittorio’s successful advancement established that true Legendary status requires an Energy Body forged through a high-risk ritual 473 474.

• The ritual demands immense energy, computational power, and willpower 474.
• A wizard who completes it becomes a Seven-Ring Wizard rather than merely holding the former honorary title of “Legendary” 474.
• Great Wizards who have not completed the ritual are classified as Sixth-ring Wizards or pseudo-legendaries, regardless of their previous title 474.
