Background

Madara was the first person after the Sage of Six Paths to awaken the Rinnegan. Before his death, he implanted those eyes in Nagato and selected him as a tool for his future resurrection. 166

Black Zetsu later arranged Madara’s return because Obito, Nagato, and Akatsuki could not overcome Uchiha Qianyu. It manipulated Orochimaru into locating Madara’s corpse and reviving him through Impure World Reincarnation. 165

Personality

Madara is proud, calculating, and intensely dismissive of anyone he considers beneath him. On returning as an Edo Tensei, he immediately judges Nagato and Obito as failures, takes command of Akatsuki, and treats both as resources for his own plan. 166 167 168

Despite his arrogance, he is not impulsive. He declines to immediately challenge Qianyu, instead conducting power-enhancement experiments and seeking alternative means to reconstruct the Ten-Tails when direct Tailed Beast capture becomes impractical. 168 180 195
