Background / History
A purple invitation light crossed into the Origin Primordial World and was intercepted by Bai Yu with the world's Laws. Unable to examine the light with his divine sense, Bai Yu accepted its invitation and entered as the ordinary member Immortal. The Chat Group had originally sent that invitation toward an ordinary Lesser World; Bai Yu's entry from a Grand Cosmos was an unintended anomaly. It initially considered expelling him out of fear that his world's Heavenly Dao might trace the connection back to it, but an inexplicable sense of danger caused it to hesitate. 5 435
In its early period, the Chat Group mainly supported messaging and red envelopes. Its limited function set was attributed to its low membership count, while its later upgrade added shared files, announcements, livestreaming, and a transaction platform. The initial Group Shop was empty and lacked a common currency, prompting Bai Yu to negotiate directly with the Chat Group. 6 9 23 26
Bai Yu's offer of Sacred Spirit Stones established the Group Shop's currency system and earned him administrator status. He subsequently added the Group Warehouse and Group Check-in functions. Although Shi Yueyao remained the Group Master, Bai Yu could communicate with the Chat Group itself and access higher-level permissions unavailable to her. 26 27 431
The Chat Group's caution became central during its conflict with the Multiverse Exchange City. It initially refused Bai Yu's proposal to confront the city and deliberately entered dormancy when Bai Yu entered the city. Once the city became vulnerable, however, the Chat Group used its Great Dao power to overwhelm it, seize its origin, and turn it into a subordinate institution. 110 114 120
After acquiring Multiverse City, the Chat Group gained a major resource and trading hub while retaining a more selective recruitment model. It continues to avoid directly recruiting from Grand Cosmos worlds despite locating their coordinates, preferring slower development over the perceived risk of attracting powerful Heavenly Dao attention. 215 263 435
Multiverse City eventually became more useful to many members than the Chat Group's own functions. After a lengthy recruitment lull, the group began admitting newcomers again; by the time Bai Yu later reviewed it, it had grown large enough that he did not recognize many newer members. 356 357 382 634
The Primordial Heavenly Dao became aware of the Chat Group attached to Bai Yu but regarded it as a damaged treasure of little use to itself. Its assessment identified the Chat Group as an Innate Supreme Treasure containing several complete Great Daos, though probably only part of its core survived. 470 472
As members advanced, the group's connection to Bai Yu also carried risks. Members who adopted the Primordial World's cultivation system acquired marks and causal ties traceable by its Heavenly Dao. Access to that system gave them a path forward, but did not give the Chat Group authority to shield them from the originating world's influence. 489 490 561
Abilities & Functions
Recruitment and Cross-World Communication
The Chat Group sends purple-light invitations to prospective members in other worlds and creates a mental chat interface upon acceptance. 5 79 168
- Members can exchange messages with people from different worlds and cultivation systems. 5 28
- Invitations can be sent across vast spatial boundaries and allow the Chat Group to obtain the recipient world's coordinates. 43 76
- Its usual recruitment targets are Lesser Worlds; Grand Cosmos worlds are considered too dangerous to approach directly. 263 435
- The Group Master can access basic member panels and has authority to invite or remove members. 6 26
- The Chat Group can locate Grand Cosmos worlds without recruiting their inhabitants; it has passed such coordinates to Multiverse City instead. 263
- Membership gives access to a shared thirty-six-tier ranking system. Ordinary members can inspect their own basic information, while the Group Master can inspect other members' panels. 7
Red Envelopes and Item Transfer
Red envelopes allow members to send objects across worlds. 6
- The function enabled early cross-world trade before the Group Shop existed. 6 23
- Bai Yu exploited recipients' acceptance of his red envelopes to obtain their world coordinates through his own Dimensional Gateway. The Chat Group did not detect this at the time. 6 19
- Red envelopes remained useful for distributing cultivation resources and treasures after the Group Shop was established. 25
- After becoming an administrator, Bai Yu could use his deeper karmic connection to members to obtain newcomers' world coordinates without first sending them red envelopes; the Chat Group did not block this. 76
Time Regulation and Traversal
The Chat Group interferes with the time flow of member worlds, preventing extreme differences in cultivation seclusion from making communication impractical. Its influence is limited in Bai Yu's Grand Primordial Cosmos. 19 60
- Time flow among member worlds is irregular due to the Chat Group's intervention. 19
- It can activate a Transversal Function for group missions, allowing coordinated travel between worlds when coordinates are available. 43
- Group members later gained the ability to travel openly between member worlds through the Transversal Function and related tokens. 117
- Members can freely enter Multiverse City after its incorporation. 122
- Its presence in the Primordial World does not grant it unrestricted passage out of that world: the Primordial Heavenly Dao's permission is required for it to open a spatial passage and teleport Bai Yu away. 470
Group Systems and Economy
The Chat Group provides shared administration and commerce tools, many of which expanded after its first upgrade. 23 26
- Group Announcement — Group Master-exclusive channel for important notices. 23
- Group File — Shared archive for world histories, cultivation information, and newcomer guides. 23 29 79
- Group Live Stream — Immersive livestreaming rather than ordinary video transmission. 23
- Group Shop — Originally a member-to-member trading platform; later merged into Multiverse City's commercial system. 23 116
- Group Check-in — Awards Spirit Stones, Immortal Spirit Stones, or Sacred Spirit Stones based on cultivation level and check-in frequency. 27
- Group Warehouse — Provides each member with an initially 100-cubic-meter personal storage space; expansion is possible through further resource expenditure. 27
- Member access to Multiverse City — Members can open shops in its core area, an advantage they would not ordinarily qualify for on the basis of cultivation alone. 122 489
- Limits of direct cultivation support — The Chat Group does not directly raise members' cultivation through points or similar functions. Its early communication tools offered little advancement assistance to already-powerful members such as Yang Jian and Chonglou; their later opportunities came chiefly through Bai Yu's contributions and Multiverse City. 357 522
Great Dao Authority
The Chat Group wields Source Great Dao-level power, most visibly through its control of Time-Space authority. 114 120
- It can resist and suppress other Time-Space Great Dao manifestations when it chooses to act. 114
- It seized the Multiverse Exchange City's Great Dao origin and refined its core fragment in minutes. 114 120
- It granted Multiverse City authority to use Time-Space Great Dao power after annexing the city. 120
- It later granted Multiverse City access to the Karma Source Great Dao. 225
- Its highest assessed mission level reaches Tier 36; the Exchange City conflict triggered a mandatory mission assessed at least at Tier 30. 112
- Its surviving core retains several complete Source Great Daos and Great Dao Sources despite severe damage. Bai Yu considers it a top-tier system but cannot yet investigate or claim it in depth. 470 472 529
- The Primordial Heavenly Dao's authority limits what the Chat Group can do inside the Primordial World, despite the Great Daos it contains. 470
Operational Traits
The Chat Group is not treated as a fully sentient individual. Its responses to Bai Yu's negotiations are described as cold, mechanical, and governed by benefit analysis, though it also displays primitive self-preservation and a drive to grow stronger. 26 122
It is exceptionally cautious. It avoids unnecessary confrontation, temporarily conceals itself under pressure, slows recruitment after Bai Yu's anomalous arrival, and refuses to invite Grand Cosmos beings despite possessing relevant coordinates. 110 114 263 435
Its concern for ordinary members is limited. It does not normally protect a member's world or guarantee the member's survival; in severe crises, its response may be limited to issuing a group mission. 60 122 431
Its cooperation with Bai Yu is also a long-term investment. Knowing that he might eventually outgrow its assistance, it nevertheless granted him authority over its currency and cultivated their relationship in the hope of future benefits. 431 432
Relationships
- Shi Yueyao — Group Master bound to the Chat Group. She can manage members and use Group Master functions, but cannot normally communicate directly with the Chat Group itself. 6 26 431
- Bai Yu / Immortal Exalted — Administrator, currency issuer, and direct collaborator. The Chat Group granted him high-level permissions in exchange for Sacred Spirit Stone-based development, while remaining wary of his Grand Cosmos origin and System. He later came to value it chiefly for its Great Dao authority and ability to gather world coordinates. 26 122 263 431 434 634
- Multiverse City — Subordinate institution after the Chat Group defeated the Multiverse Exchange City and seized its Great Dao origin. It became the principal resource hub for many group members. 114 120 357 429
- Group members — Recruited individuals from different worlds who receive communication, trading, storage, traversal, and Multiverse City access through membership. Some also bear traceable ties to the Primordial World after adopting its cultivation system. 5 27 122 489
- Multiverse Exchange City — Rival organization defeated and absorbed by the Chat Group during the Tier 30 crisis. 112 114
- Primordial Heavenly Dao — Aware of the Chat Group's attachment to Bai Yu, but uninterested in the damaged treasure. Its authority prevents the Chat Group from freely opening a passage out of the Primordial World, and it can trace causal ties formed by practitioners of that world's cultivation system. 470 489 561
Trivia
- The Chat Group was originally named after Shi Yueyao before its current more dramatic name was adopted. 173
- Shi Yueyao considers the Chat Group—not Multiverse City or its members—to be her true Golden Finger and prioritizes keeping all members included in its development. 311
- Bai Yu repeatedly calls the Chat Group an “Old Six” because of its secretive, risk-averse behavior and tendency to conceal its capabilities. 120 225
- Bai Yu once expected that mastery of a Source Great Dao would let him readily create treasures like the Chat Group. He later recognized that the uniqueness of each Source Great Dao prevents mass production of Thirtieth-Tier Great Dao Treasures. 263 431 565
