Nature

• Dou Qi is the energy cultivated by practitioners on the Dou Qi Continent; cultivation raises a practitioner's strength and realm. Jiang Xing began cultivating it after transmigrating and reached Dou Zong at eighteen. 1
• Ambient Dou Qi can be absorbed from the surroundings. Extremely dense attribute-specific energy, such as the wind-attributed energy within the Gate of Life and Death, greatly accelerates cultivation. 28
• Cultivation can replace sleep. During shallow cultivation, a practitioner can still use soul power to monitor their surroundings and stop safely when needed. 2
• Deep cultivation requires seclusion and is highly vulnerable to interruption; a disruption can waste accumulated Dou Qi or, in severe cases, cause a realm regression. 2

Attributes

• A practitioner can possess more than one attribute. Jiang Xing's Dou Qi has both wind and fire affinities, with his fire affinity described as mixed with wind. 1
• Cultivation methods can alter the appearance and effective strength of Dou Qi. After switching to the Yellow Rank Flame Mantra, Jiang Xing's Dou Qi changed from gold to pale yellow and his realm fell from One-Star Dou Zong to Six-Star Dou Emperor. 12

Cultivation and Advancement

• Dou Qi cultivation is organized into ranked realms with star-based minor stages. Advancement becomes dramatically harder at higher levels, particularly from Dou Venerate to Dou Saint. 1
• A Dou God bloodline makes the transition from Dou Venerate to Dou Saint substantially easier; those without one may remain at the peak of Dou Venerate indefinitely. 1
• Dense energy, cultivation resources, and refined treasures can supplement ordinary cultivation:
  • Fire Pearls contain fire-attributed energy that can be refined into Dou Qi. 39
  • Energy Light Orbs restore expended Dou Qi and can increase strength after refinement. 94 95

Applications

Aura Release

• Practitioners can release Dou Qi as an aura to pressure weaker opponents. Ji Feng's Five-Star Dou Venerate aura forced the sealed Dou Ling-level Hai Bodong to the ground. 3
• Releasing one's aura can also attract creatures capable of sensing it, allowing Jiang Xing and Cai Lin to draw targets to themselves in the Secret Realm. 95

Combat Techniques

• Dou Qi is gathered and shaped to perform Dou Techniques, including palms, fingers, barriers, and long-range attacks. 24 126 130
• Jiang Xing formed Dou Qi into nets and a wall inside his body while restraining the Fallen Heart Flame, though the flame's heat could burn through the nets. 20
• At sufficient strength, Dou Qi can form wings for flight; Dou Wang-level experts used Dou Qi wings to reach the Snake-People Tribe's city walls. 24

Defense and Concealment

• Dou Qi can be shaped into protective barriers, though their effectiveness depends on the user's realm. Yao Xiaotian's barrier shattered immediately under Jiang Xing's attack. 128
• Advanced practitioners may compress, conceal, or freely release their Dou Qi aura. Jiang Xing compressed his Dou Qi during cultivation and later demonstrated the ability to conceal or release his presence at will. 72 188

Limitations

• The amount and control of Dou Qi available constrain a practitioner's combat options. Jiang Xing delayed fusing the Green Lotus Core Flame and Fallen Heart Flame until a recovery pill restored the Dou Qi he had spent. 20
• Powerful techniques can consume excessive Dou Qi. Jiang Xing avoided using the Furious Buddha Lotus Flame against weaker Secret Realm creatures because its expenditure was unnecessary. 95
• High-level advancement through ordinary cultivation is exceptionally slow; Jiang Xing notes that, at the High-Level Dou Saint realm, even a single minor advancement may require decades. 160 169
