Background / History

Queen of the Tagor Desert

As queen, Medusa sought to lead the Snake-People Tribe out of the Tagor Desert and secure territory better suited to their survival. Her companion soul was the sixth-rank Amethyst Nether Serpent, which carried a trace of ancient bloodline. The tribe’s ancestral evolution technique offered a way to stimulate that bloodline with a Heavenly Flame, despite the danger posed by the conflict between the snake-people’s yin-cold constitution and the flame’s yang nature 3 6 7.

Before meeting Jiang Xing, she tried to obtain the Green Lotus Core Flame near Shi Mo City. Injuries inflicted by the flame and nearby magical beasts forced her to leave it behind 6.

Marriage Agreement and First Evolution

Jiang Xing offered to lend her the flame in exchange for marriage, later adding a promise to find a suitable homeland for her people. Medusa initially distrusted the proposal, but the Four Great Elders supported it. She agreed on the condition that her evolution came first and that Jiang Xing would not harm the tribe if she failed 6 7.

She began evolving on a small island using the Green Lotus Core Flame and Ice Spirit Cold Spring. When Gu He’s group attacked to interrupt her breakthrough, she asked Jiang Xing to defend the tribe. He and the snake-people killed the intruders, allowing her to continue 8 9 10.

Her successful evolution triggered thunderclouds and lightning. The lightning destroyed her large purple serpent body, leaving a tiny Seven-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python. Although she had reached Dou Zong, the python soul temporarily controlled the body. Jiang Xing cared for the small snake and fed it Amethyst Accompanying Source while awaiting her awakening 10 11.

Awakening at Misty Cloud Mountain

While Medusa was dormant, the tribe relocated to Misty Cloud Mountain after the defeat of the Jia Ma Royal Family and Misty Cloud Sect. She awakened two months after Jiang Xing entered the Gate of Life and Death. Concerned for him, she attempted to enter the gate herself, but could not make it respond 26 29.

When Jiang Xing returned, she recognized her feelings for him and initiated a kiss, recalling his protection, care, and fulfillment of his promise to her people. She subsequently refined the Soul Fusion Pill and completely merged with the python soul 29 30.

She resumed handling tribal business, including reports of conflict with humans. Jiang Xing urged her to delegate minor matters and prioritize cultivation, arguing that her strength was the tribe’s best protection 34 35.

Joining the Jiang Family

Medusa accepted the name Cai Lin while traveling to the Central Continent with Jiang Xing. She met his grandfather, Jiang Cheng, who welcomed her and gave her a Storage Ring as a meeting gift 50 51 52.

Her pregnancy was confirmed after Jiang Xing returned from Dragon Island. She then met his parents, Jiang Heng and Su Qian, and the couple held their wedding. Su Qian personally selected Cai Lin’s bridal jewelry 62 63 64 65.

Cai Lin arranged for the Great Elder to manage tribal affairs while she remained with the Jiang family during pregnancy. She nevertheless worried about her people, prompting Jiang Xing to accompany her on a visit. Their daughter, Jiang Yue, was born without Dou Qi. Unlike the alternate outcome discussed by Jiang Xing, Cai Lin had completely fused with her companion soul rather than transferring it to her child 138.

Secret Realm Expedition and Bodhi Ancient Tree

Cai Lin trained diligently before entering the Jiang Clan’s Secret Realm with Jiang Xing. Inside, they hunted creatures and refined the Energy Light Orbs left by their corpses. They eventually defeated a Dou Saint-level creature; Cai Lin encouraged Jiang Xing to refine its orb alone so that he could reach Advanced Half-Saint 79 89 94 96 97.

At the Bodhi Ancient Tree, she guarded Jiang Xing while he was absorbed in enlightenment. When a group attacked from multiple directions, she transformed into her Seven-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python body to shield him. She killed a Nine-Star Dou Venerate but sustained worsening injuries as the siege continued. Nine-Colored Evolution

After reaching Dou Saint through Bodhi Seed refinement, Cai Lin traveled with Jiang Xing to the Nine Nether Yellow Springs. He had obtained a Nine-Colored Origin Stone for her evolution and later supplied a drop of Yellow Springs Demon Saint’s essence blood. Beneath the springs, Cai Lin discovered a nest of Seven-Colored Heaven Swallowing Pythons and received their inheritance. Her early dealings with Jiang Xing are guarded and pragmatic. She recognizes that his strength and background exceed anything the tribe can oppose, and carefully manages her reception of him to avoid provoking a disaster. Familiarity gradually brings affection, playfulness, and vulnerability, though she is still easily embarrassed by public displays of intimacy 6 35 40.

Her loyalty does not make her passive in combat. When Jiang Xing is threatened beneath the Bodhi Ancient Tree, she kills an instigator, confronts a surrounding crowd, and continues defending him despite severe injuries. She is considerate about the demands she places on Jiang Xing.
