Background

Robin survived the destruction of Ohara and spent more than two years fleeing bounty hunters, employers, and others who sought to claim her bounty. After a new employer recognized and betrayed her, she escaped while injured, collapsed in Feng Ye's residence, and awoke healed. Believing he did not know her identity, she presented herself as a homeless orphan and offered to cook and perform chores in exchange for shelter. 339

For six months, Robin concealed that she was the “Child of the Devil,” expecting Feng Ye to betray her as others had. When bounty hunters traced her to his home, she prepared to escape with the Flower-Flower Fruit; Feng Ye instead eliminated the pursuers and confirmed that he had known her identity all along. He took her with him when he left the island, promising protection regardless of her status. 340 341
