Waterfall on the Da Nei River
"Roy, what are you humming?"
Klayr immediately sat down on the grass and asked Roy.
"This is how the melody of the Da Nei River at night should be..."
Roy said vaguely.
He blushed slightly and spoke with a lack of confidence, after all, this was his first time plagiarizing.
"I need to write this down, Roy. Can you hum it again?" Klayr grabbed Roy's arm, nearly shaking the wooden chopsticks out of his hand.
"Of course you can, but the way you hum this time might be a little different from the first time."
Roy could only remember the first half of the melody, and even that was very blurry.
As the melody came out of Roy's mouth again, Klayr squinted, listened quietly for a while, and then quickly wrote it down in her Parchment Booklet.
"Roy ...this melody is really great!" Klayr said excitedly.
He even had an impulse to jump straight into the shimmering Da Nei River...
Roy smiled faintly, put his arm around Klayr's shoulder, and said:
"Am I right? As long as you immerse yourself in this place, you will gain beautiful sounds!"
Although he felt a little guilty, he also felt a secret joy inside.
Roy has now entered an infinite loop mode, holding the Parchment Booklet, tapping his own hand to keep time, and humming along like Roy.
"I'm going to write it down tonight..."
Klayr said excitedly.
After saying that, he picked up the Parchment Booklet and ran towards the camp.
Roy stood up from the grass, brushed the grass clippings off his bottom, and said, "Whatever. I've eaten a bit too much, I'm planning to walk around a bit before I sleep."
On a moonlit night, a person walks along the riverbank, the moonlight spilling onto the water's surface, creating a shimmering effect.
The river flows merrily, and a cool breeze blows.
Occasionally, you can even see elves...
After a walk along the river, Roy returned to camp.
After he lay down in the tent, he heard Klayr humming and moaning at the tent entrance for most of the night.
I don't know when I fell asleep.
Early in the morning, Roy was woken up again by Klayr, whose eyes were bloodshot from staying up all night. He poked his head out of the tent, looked at Klayr had already packed up the tent, and stared at him with a puzzled expression.
Klayr, however, seemed incredibly excited, and even her voice became a little hoarse, probably because she had been humming too much last night.
It was so early, and the campsite was still quiet.
Inside the camp, most of the elves were sleeping in their tents at this time.
Klayr said to Roy, "Roy, we should go. I really can't take it anymore. Every day, people come to me for all sorts of reasons. I didn't think much of it before, but last night I realized that it's having a huge impact on my writing. Roy, there are still two weeks left before the outdoor practice course ends. We need to hurry up and get to the Da Nei River."
Roy shook his still somewhat dizzy head, agreeing with Klayr's assessment, and then said:
"Alright, it's time to go."
Klayr urged immediately, "I've packed my luggage... Shall we set off now?"
"Let me pack my things!" Roy nimbly popped out of the tent.
"I'll help you..."
After Klayr finished speaking, she began to help him take down the tent...
With only a few belongings, the two hurriedly left the Da Nei River camp before sunrise.
We walked upstream along the path worn into the Da Nei River.
The road here is very easy to walk on, and the surface is not muddy. The entire road is hidden under the shade of trees, and the Da Nei River flows swiftly on one side...
Klayr showed no signs of fatigue, walking and looking at the music he had composed. When they rested along the way, he even took out a recorder and played a tune for Roy.
Then, beaming, he asked Roy, "How do you feel?" Without waiting for Roy to express his feelings, he said to Roy, "Roy, I think you should give this piece a name."
Roy rolled his eyes, wanting to tell him that the piece already had a very famous name.
However, after thinking about it, considering that Klayr had only made a secondary creation on this melody, she said:
"I only let you hear a simple rhythm to give you some inspiration. You composed the whole piece, and you named it yourself."
Klayr didn't say anything, she just kept staring at Roy.
Roy was getting annoyed by Klayr's silent protest. He scratched his head helplessly and said:
"Alright, if I really had to name it, I'd call it Blue Da Nei River!"
Klayr happily agreed, "Okay, that's what we'll call it!"
Throughout the rest of the journey, Klayr worked on perfecting the piece. Occasionally, when she found herself going astray, she would pick up a paintbrush to clear her head.
Actually, Klayr's sketch assignment was almost finished, but he liked to get into a state of focused concentration, and after a while, he would break free from this state of absorption and then appreciate the piece of music again, which would give him a different feeling.
Sketching allows him to enter a state of focus very quickly, while sculpting takes longer, but he can persist for a long time without feeling tired.
Whenever this happens, Roy is responsible for finding food nearby to solve both of their lunch and dinner problems...
Just as Instructor Nora said.
The journey upstream along the Da Nei River is easy.
Moreover, walking along the river makes it less likely to get lost.
The only problem is this path, which is also the path that most elf students will choose.
Nowadays, most elven students pass through here, and all the edible berries along the way have long been picked clean by the elven students who passed by earlier.
Even unripe berries are hard to find, let alone the berries on the tree that taste like red wine and coffee, which are impossible to find.
The Da Nei River is rich in fish, Roy can fish there, but Klayr doesn't like it.
After a brief discussion, the two decided to re-enter the Malaga Jungle, where they could find more berries to eat.
This time, the two became much more cautious when entering the Malaga Jungle.
They were always very careful when camping, and Roy even learned how to set up a warning line from other elf teams.
It took the two two weeks to emerge from the Malaga Jungle and Da Nei River.
The two walked to the Da Nei River and looked down into the valley, only to find that it had long been a gathering place for students from the Elf Academy.
Actually, this is not the true source of the Da Nei River.
But just ahead is a huge waterfall, and the elves' Flying Fish Boat can no longer go upstream. In fact, five rivers converge above the waterfall to form such a magnificent waterfall. There are large swamps above the waterfall, so it is no longer the Malaga Jungle.
Standing on the cliff top, you can see the mist rising from the waterfall, with a rainbow stretching across the entire valley through the mist.
For the elves, this is the most ideal place to live.
However, this place is located deep in the Malaga Jungle.
During the time when the elves were fighting against the Naga Sea Clan...
All the elves who lived deep in the mountains abandoned their peaceful seclusion and joined the army. The war lasted for more than two hundred years.
After the war, the elves who had emerged from the depths of the mountains did not return; instead, they chose to settle in the new city built by the sea.
The source of the Da Nei River bears many traces of what was once inhabited by elves.
However, most of the abandoned treehouses have been reduced to huge dead tree stumps. Only two treehouses are still relatively well-preserved. One is now a sentry post set up by the Seventeenth Silver Pegasus Legion, and the other is the reporting office of the Elf Academy.
All students from the Elf Academy who arrive here must report here, then camp here, waiting for the ship arranged by the Academy to return to Castleton City.
As Roy and Klayr reached the entrance to the valley, they saw several small teams emerging from the Malaga Jungle.
The two blended into the crowd and didn't attract much attention.
Along the way, Roy and Klayr ate wild berries almost all the time. Klayr seemed to be doing better, as she was already quite thin.
But Roy's appearance had changed drastically; he was not only dressed in rags, but he had also lost a lot of weight due to hunger.
In fact, almost all the elf students who came to register were like this.
Some of the Half-Elf, like Roy, had their clothes torn and tattered by the vines.
However, the day before Roy arrived, he spent the entire night stitching up the damaged parts with needle and thread. Now it looks like he's covered in centipedes. Although it looks a bit disgusting, at least his clothes and pants are intact.
Everyone had to line up to register next to the treehouse in front of the waterfall.
"Name?"
"Wagner Klayr!"
The instructor looked up and gave Klayr a deep look, nodded, and without asking any questions, stamped a red seal on the map Claire handed him.
"Name?"
"Roy!"
The instructor took Roy's map and quickly stamped it.
As the two were leaving, they noticed that the instructor had actually nodded at them...
The elf students behind Roy and Klayr thought the reporting process was that simple. They stood excitedly in front of the instructor, readily took out their maps, and placed them in front of him.
"Name?"
"Tim.Martin!"
"Where's your map showing the route through the jungle? Also, take out your backpack; I need to check it..." the instructor demanded, glaring at Martin.
Martin paused slightly, turned to look at Roy and Klayr, who had already reached the treehouse door, and asked somewhat indignantly, "Instructor, why didn't you check those two students in front?"
The instructor snatched the Parchment Map from him and roared:
"Because they don't need to be checked, idiot. Any other problems? If not, just redo your roadmap and come report here again."
"Yes, Instructor!"
Martin left the cabin looking dejected.
Seeing Roy and Klayr walking side by side, chatting and laughing ahead, she planned to run over and question the Half-Elf, asking why he received preferential treatment from the instructor while she didn't.
Then Edith and several elf girls came out of a tent and greeted Klayr and Roy warmly, inviting them to pitch their tent over there...
