234 Griffon Bulwark
The protests of the Half-Elf grew louder and louder, and more and more elves gathered on the banks of the Stream Valley. They even picked up stones from the bank and threw them into the stream, the splashing water almost landing on the Elf Warrior.
The Silver Moon Elf Warrior finally started to panic. Although the Boundary Marker had been erected by the stream, it hadn't been covered with mud and sand yet, so the Elf Warrior were forced to stop.
Faced with the enraged Half-Elf on the other side, these Silver Moon Elf Warrior were at a loss as to how to respond.
For so many years, the elves have been preaching freedom and equality, and the land in the Pattington Plane has gradually become privatized. The villages of the Half-Elf have been constantly encroached upon, and no Half-Elf have stood up to protest under the decree issued by the elder of the Padesto elves.
Now, the Half-Elf have been driven to the foot of the Griffon Bulwark, and the last hunting grounds have been seized by the Elven Nobles.
The Half-Elf's emotions grew increasingly agitated, and they threw the stones farther and farther away, some of which landed on the shore.
The Silver Moon Elf Warrior retreated.
Roy and Sabrina stood at the back of the crowd, watching the agitated Half-Elf, unsure whether to try to dissuade him or join in...
When the Half-Elf saw several Silver Moon Elf Warrior begin to retreat, some of them stepped into the stream and rushed to the other side in the blink of an eye, knocking down the Boundary Marker standing on the riverbank.
In a panic, the Silver Moon Elf Warrior mounted their horses and retreated into the jungle.
A group of Half-Elf stepped on the fallen Boundary Marker by the river and cheered, releasing their long-suppressed emotions.
Some of the Half-Elf did not cross the valley, and a look of worry appeared in their eyes.
Because they knew that the temporary departure of the Silver Moon Elf Warrior did not mean the matter had ended in victory for the Half-Elf, but rather the beginning of a conflict.
There were many elves like Roy and Sabrina watching from behind. These elves were mostly adventurers, bards, or merchants who were temporarily staying in Bulwark Village. They didn't pay much attention to this, and perhaps they would have already left Bulwark Village by the time a big mess was caused.
The elves by the Stream Valley began to disperse, and Roy and Sabrina followed the flow of people back to the village.
Bulwark Village is really huge.
Calling it a small village is an understatement; it's more accurate to describe it as a border town.
On the sunny side of the valley, treehouses have been built on almost every large tree.
These treehouses, built atop the trees, have an artistic flair. Many of them have unique structures and are nestled in the forest. Combined with the stream in the middle of the valley, they resemble a beautiful pastoral painting.
A horse bell rang in the forest, and in the distance, a strong horse carrying the carcass of a wounded griffin entered the Bulwark Village.
The griffin's wings were tucked together, bound to its body with ropes, its head drooping to one side, and a scorpion tail dragging on the ground...
Several Half-Elf hunters accompanied them gleefully, their faces beaming with joy and pride.
The merchants who had been watching the commotion by the stream all rushed toward the elven hunters. They stopped the hunters outside the village, and one of the elves used an iron hook to pull up the griffin's head and examine its wounds.
"How did you get injured so badly? Skin like that isn't worth much," an Elf Merchants said to the elven hunters, frowning.
The elven hunters could only manage a wry smile, saying, "There's nothing we can do. When it was alive, we didn't dare get close at all. We could only wait until it was completely dead, and that's when its skin turned into this."
"Three Magic Crystal Stone, and you can take the magic core from the griffin... Do you want to sell it? We'll hire a skinner to handle it ourselves." The Elf Merchants seized the opportunity to start a business deal.
"Three Magic Crystal Stone are definitely not enough. The merchant spent five Magic Crystal Stone on that griffin the day before yesterday!"
The elven hunters shook their heads repeatedly...
While they were discussing the price, Roy also came over. It was the first time he had seen an adult griffin up close. Its fine brown fur was tattered from being rubbed by rocks, and it was clear that it had died in great pain. Moreover, there was a fist-sized hole in the back of its head, which meant that the hunters had taken the magic core from its skull.
The griffin has a complete lion-like head, and this is likely a young male griffin with a long mane around its neck.
Its four paws are very thick, almost as thick as a bear's paws.
The claws perfectly conform to the plum blossom shape of felines, with sharp claw tips hidden inside thick paw pads.
The wings were bound to its body. They were a pair of huge fleshy wings with only a thin layer on the skeleton. Even the downy hairs were very short, and you could even see the blood vessels distributed on the fleshy wings.
The most distinctive feature of a griffin is its scorpion tail... but it is not a manticore. A purebred manticore is a level four magical beast, covered in dark red scales, with a sharp horn on its head and a highly venomous tail, making it exceptionally ferocious in battle.
In terms of bloodline, the griffin is related to the manticore and the Spiketail Lion. However, the griffin is one level higher than the Hedgehog Crystal Lion and is the worst level three magical beast. Not only is its combat power inferior to many peak level Tier 2 Magical Beast, but its hide has also been reduced to competing with the hides of level one magical beasts for market share.
As Tier 2 Magical Beast, the Spike-tailed Crystal Lion's leather is quite valuable in the Elven World and is very popular among young Silver Moon Elf.
The griffin had its eyes closed, the blood flowing from the corners of its eyes had dried, its face was somewhat sunken and distorted, and its corpse had begun to attract flies.
Although the elven hunters covered the griffins with mint, some small insects still flew around them.
This griffin is enormous, weighing several hundred kilograms, and is extremely strong.
I've heard that an adult griffin can easily snatch a Unicorn Wild Ox.
The griffin's forepaws were already showing bare white bones, likely from the trap. It was truly hard for Roy to believe that a level three magical beast could fall into a hunter's trap and be unable to escape.
Generally speaking, level one magical beasts possess a certain level of intelligence.
The intelligence of a level three magical beast is almost the same as that of a ten-year-old human child, yet they not only step into animal traps, but once caught, they cannot escape even until death, which is somewhat absurd...
Clearly, classifying the griffin as a level three magical beast is inconsistent with the magical beast power system.
Seeing many elves gathered around the griffin, Roy couldn't resist reaching out to touch its soft, fluffy fur. It felt wonderful to the touch, but its body was a bit stiff and had a faint odor...
By this time, a merchant had already finalized the deal, and the young male griffin carcass was successfully purchased for four Magic Crystal Stone.
Roy recalled that when he was in the caravan, a Half-Elf hunter had said that these griffins could be tamed and used as mounts.
Looking at its enormous body, Roy thought to himself, "It would be really nice to ride a griffin through the sky. It would be much more enjoyable than flying in an airplane."
"Roy, let's go!"
Sabrina walked ahead and noticed that Roy hadn't followed, so she quickly turned around and called to him.
"They're here..."
Roy's daydream was interrupted by Sabrina, who quickly followed after him.
Inside the hotel, Instructor Nora and Guide Majeri had already arranged a route to climb over the Griffon Bulwark.
This time, Majeri finally demonstrated his professionalism as a guide. He was very familiar with the Griffon Bulwark, and on his advice, Instructor Nora decided to climb the Griffon Bulwark from Aperture No.3.
The Adventure Group will pass through many hunting grounds along the way.
According to guide Majeri, places with traps and snares are relatively safe, even though griffins will always appear. If you encounter a griffin, you can lure it into the trap.
The Adventure Group only stayed in Bulwark Village for two nights.
On the morning of the third day, Instructor Nora led the Adventure Group into the deep mountains of Griffon Bulwark.
Although the mountain is covered with weeds and teeming with snakes and ants, there are also many mountain paths. These paths were created by the elf hunters of the Bulwark Village. As more people walk on them, the weeds naturally bend to the sides.
The horses rented by the Adventure Group were left at the inn in Bulwark Village and were taken care of by the inn.
The Adventure Group, fully armed, entered the desolate Griffon Bulwark Mountain Range. Roy emerged from the valley and discovered that the mountain behind him was not the real Bulwark Mountain Range. Behind this mountain, a continuous cliff blocked their way.
Roy followed in the group and could clearly see that only the lower third of the mountain range was covered with vegetation. From the middle of the mountain upwards, there were vertical cliffs that rose straight up into the sky. These cliffs were completely bare and barren, with almost nothing growing except for some rock crevices.
Griffins circled between the cliff faces...
"From here on, we have entered the territory of the griffins. As soon as a griffin spots us, it will attack us. However, they are so large that they rarely rush into the dense bushes, so we will not be attacked for the time being. But we need to be careful once we enter the open area."
Guide Majeri walked at the front, observing the path while explaining it to the young people in the Adventure Group.
Occasionally, other small animals would rush out of the jungle, but many of them were not afraid of the elves. When they saw the Adventure Group passing by, they would even hide in the trees and peek out to observe.
In fact, at the foot of the Bulwark Mountain Range, there are wave after wave of mountain ranges, which pile up higher and higher until the Griffon Bulwark looks like a wall rising from the ground.
Guide Majeri led everyone over two mountain ridges in one go. The closer we got to that cliff, the more we felt how majestic and magnificent it truly was...
During this time, Instructor Eleanor was standing on a boulder at the top of a mountain when she saw a griffin swooping down from the sky.
These griffins are truly ferocious and reckless; they'll charge at the mere sight of the elves...
Instructor Eleanor jumped off the cliff. The griffin, unable to find its target, circled around the area once more before leaving.
