History
In a 2007 feed accessed through the data world, Tony notices Lin Feng briefly seize control of his computer. Lin Feng subsequently orders his monsters to capture Tony to test whether the apparent time travel is real; Tony attempts to flee before being rendered unconscious. 4
Tony later meets Lin Feng during the battle with Obadiah at Stark Industries. Lin Feng saves Tony from Obadiah, carries him out of the line of fire, and disables Obadiah's armor with a kick. Tony's gratitude for the rescue becomes the foundation of their alliance. 7
When S.H.I.E.L.D. imprisons Lin Feng aboard its helicarrier, Tony mounts a solo armored extraction. He breaches the carrier, locates Lin Feng through Jarvis, and escapes with him through anti-aircraft fire. 24
Tony seeks Lin Feng's help after palladium poisoning from his reactor threatens his life. With Lin Feng's insight into Howard Stark's Expo model and help operating the collider, Tony creates a replacement element. He publicly presents it as a joint discovery with a Chinese scientist. 26 28 29
After verifying Hydra's infiltration of S.H.I.E.L.D. through hacking, Tony works with Lin Feng against Project Insight. He prefers to wait until Hydra acts openly, intending to expose the organization publicly rather than immediately dismantle it. 29 30
Tony later builds extensive city defenses: massive mechanized walls, mounted cannons, and patrol robots. The defenses automatically target Lin Feng until Tony orders the robots to stand down. 114
During the conflict with Thanos, Tony fields increasingly advanced bio-armor and fights beside Lin Feng. He withstands bombardment with a shield configuration, regains his confidence after the Reality Stone disrupts their initial attack, and uses Bullet Dive to wound Thanos at great personal cost. 132 134
After successfully transferring his consciousness into a clone body, Tony celebrates his rebirth with Lin Feng and Loki. He plans to study alien technology and provide advanced armor to help protect humanity. 129
Appearance
Tony is most often seen in gold-and-red Iron Man armor. Earlier armor can make its faceplate transparent to reveal his face; later living armor bonds closely to his body and appears as gold-red striping around a bright chest light. 254 131
- Middle-aged with graying hair at his temples during his later reunion with Lin Feng. 186
- Retains his familiar appearance after awakening in a clone body made from his own cells. 129
- Favors high-profile armored entrances, often arriving at high speed with visible thruster trails. 59 129
Personality
Tony is intensely curious about unexplained technology and biology. He repeatedly asks to study Lin Feng's abilities and DNA, even after Lin Feng warns that the Blacklight Virus is too dangerous to investigate. 22 28
He is proud, theatrical, and motivated by public recognition. His plan for Hydra involves exposing its members in front of the world so that his role will become part of history, while his new-element presentation turns a scientific breakthrough into a major public event. 30 29
Despite his ego, Tony is protective and persistent. He risks conflict with S.H.I.E.L.D. to rescue Lin Feng, returns to battle Thanos despite fear of the Infinity Stones, and focuses on rebuilding the city after destruction leaves civilians trapped in the ruins. 24 132 137
Abilities & Skills
Engineering and invention
Tony possesses exceptional innovative ability, especially in energy, armor, robotics, and biological technology.
- Designs and constructs the collider that produces the new element replacing his palladium reactor. 28
- Identifies and develops the Expo model's hidden new-element design after Lin Feng's suggestion. 26
- Creates living armor by combining research from the Blacklight Virus, Extremis Virus, and Super Soldier Serum. 131
- Builds fortified city walls containing internal machinery, cannons, and autonomous patrol robots. 114
- Investigates Hydra by hacking into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s core systems. 29
Armored combat
Tony's Iron Man systems provide flight, energy weapons, defensive shaping, and high-speed impact attacks.
- Uses palm repulsor rays and airborne maneuvering in combat. 59
- Forms a smooth red bio-armor shield to withstand fire from Thanos's ship. 132
- Uses Bullet Dive to strike Thanos with meteor-like speed and force. 134
- Can be outmatched by opponents such as Lin Feng; his advanced bio-armor begins failing after only a brief exchange. 189 191
- Bullet Dive's recoil damages his arms and leaves him injured despite the armor's shock resistance. 134
Artificial intelligence and robotics
Tony relies on Jarvis for analysis, surveillance, navigation, security, and armor support.
- Jarvis locates Lin Feng within the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier during Tony's rescue operation. 24
