Function and Operation
- The Bifrost projects seven-colored energy that tears open space and transports a target across cosmic distances. Heimdall activates it through an incantation and channels the same energy through his hand. 85
- It is Asgard’s primary means of travel to Earth and other realms. When it is broken, Asgardians are unable to use it to escape their infected homeland or summon Thor from Asgard. 66 101
- The bridge itself is a multicolored, glass-like structure marked by golden magical arrays and runic patterns. 85
- Heimdall’s golden greatsword, the Bifrost Sword, is used to activate the system and carries major symbolic weight among Asgardians. 102 159
- An unprepared activation can be hazardous: Sun Wukong’s rune-engraved Ruyi Jingu Bang triggered a Bifrost transport that swept both him and Lin Feng into turbulent time-space currents, separating them and ejecting Lin Feng onto Sakaar. 81
- The energy released in the accidental activation pierced Lin Feng’s base and overwhelmed his defenses. 23
History
The Bifrost’s technology was incorporated into Lin Feng’s early spatial research. By combining it with his virus and components from Dark Elves’ Black Hole Grenades, he created a Space Bracelet containing a roughly one-hundred-square-meter pocket space. Lin Feng later acknowledged that his understanding of Bifrost technology remained only preliminary, though it was enough to produce the bracelet. 3 138
At one point, the Bifrost was broken and only partly restored. When Lin Feng first arrived in Asgard, the bridgehead remained incomplete and unusable; Heimdall nevertheless guarded it and attacked Lin Feng with the Bifrost Sword. 66 83
During Lin Feng’s later conflict with Odin and Heimdall, the half-repaired bridge was damaged again. Heimdall agreed to transport Lin Feng to Earth, but instead used the Bifrost to send him to a lifeless, scorching planet. 85
Lin Feng subsequently weaponized the system against Asgard. Using a Sling Ring portal, he sent a genetically modified zombie to Heimdall’s post and fired energy rays into the Bifrost’s core, causing the recently repaired structure to explode. 99 100
During Asgard’s zombie outbreak, the bridge remained unusable and survivors looked to Bifrost engineers in the city center as their only prospect of restoring an escape route. Lin Feng later devoured an engineer and gained the knowledge needed to study Asgardian technology, including the Bifrost. 101 112
The Bifrost was eventually repaired again, but Thor’s delayed use of it contributed to his late arrival at the devastated dwarven realm. 91
Technology
Spatial Transportation
The Bifrost can transport individuals through cosmic space in a beam of rainbow energy.
- Heimdall used it to send Thor to Earth. 91
- It can leave a circular rune mark at the destination point. 85
- Its transit route passes through unfamiliar star systems at extreme speed. 85
- Uncontrolled passage exposes travelers to violent spatial and gravitational forces. 81
Bifrost-Based Engineering
Bifrost principles can be adapted for other spatial technologies.
- Lin Feng used Bifrost technology to carve out and stabilize pocket space inside his Space Bracelet. 3
- He considered Bifrost technology to contain elements of quantum technology. 195
- After acquiring Asgardian engineering knowledge, Lin Feng intended to deduce most Asgardian technologies through Bifrost research. 112
- A dwarven-forged Ruyi Jingu Bang was fitted with a Bifrost-summoning function. 81
Associated Entities
- Heimdall — Asgard’s gatekeeper and principal Bifrost operator; carries the Bifrost Sword and can activate the bridge through dark magic. 83 85
- Bifrost Sword — Heimdall’s golden greatsword, used to activate the Bifrost and later wielded by Lin Feng. 101 102
- Asgardian engineers — Specialists capable of repairing the damaged Bifrost; they were located in Asgard’s city center during the zombie crisis. 101 112
- Thor — Uses the Bifrost to travel from Asgard to Earth; repair delays prevented him from reaching Nidavellir in time. 91
- Sun Wukong — His dwarven-forged Ruyi Jingu Bang can summon the Bifrost, though its first activation caused an uncontrolled transport incident. 81
- Lin Feng — Studied and repurposed Bifrost technology, was transported by it several times, and sabotaged its core during his revenge against Asgard. 3 85 100
