A long, long, long time ago.
At this time, the world had just awakened, and all things were emerging from ignorance; at this time, there were no flowers, birds, grass, or trees, no flying birds or beasts, and certainly no so-called humans...
And at the center of the world, a great tree quietly grew, eventually piercing the sky, connecting heaven and earth.
Its branches and leaves spread to every corner of the world, absorbing the waste elements of the earth and sky, and then feeding the world with nutrients, nourishing all things in heaven and earth.
Later, gradually... the first drifting cloud appeared in the sky, the first fleeting sunset glow, the first soaring bird, the first flowing breeze; on the ground, the first blade of grass broke through the soil, the first small beast ran freely, the first babbling river flowed, the first human learned to think.
The first person to see this World Tree exclaimed with admiration and awe:
"This is the Divine Tree."
Naruto followed Jiraiya to the location where Orochimaru was being held.
On the way, they encountered an unwelcome visitor.
Danzō.
"What are you doing here?" Jiraiya asked impolitely. He had no reason to be polite to that old man Danzō.
Naruto frowned. This old man gave him a very sinister feeling. Even though it was daytime, it felt as if there was no light around him.
Danzō remained silent, his exposed left eye narrowing slightly as he looked at the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki behind Jiraiya... this thing left behind by the Fourth Hokage.
He couldn't see any signs of a new Genin on Naruto.
He was calm, composed, and most importantly, the look in his eyes... was surprisingly confident.
Danzō thought again that Orochimaru's contact with him had been completely severed a few days ago.
"Let's go, Naruto." Since Danzō wasn't speaking, Jiraiya ignored him, called Naruto, and continued on their way, passing Danzō.
Danzō remained rooted to the spot, a storm brewing in his left eye. He raised his left hand and pressed it against his right eye, which was wrapped in bandages... this Sharingan of Shisui Uchiha.
"The Demon Fox's chakra that Root sensed during the second exam, combined with Orochimaru's disappearance... He's grown a bit too much, Naruto Uzumaki, or rather... the Nine-Tails Fox..."
"For the safety of the village, do I have to use Shisui's eye?"
"No, this Genjutsu should be saved for that old bastard Madara... But I can't perfectly wield Shisui's Mangekyo Genjutsu. Can I truly reverse Madara's will..."
"Itachi's body... he's going to die sooner or later, he's already lost the value of making me use this eye... Then, Madara, it's still you, Nine-Tails..."
"As long as it's for Konoha, let alone one eye..."
Danzō's expression was blank as his back disappeared down the path.
On the way, Naruto couldn't help but ask, "What exactly does Danzō want to do?"
Jiraiya replied while walking, "He probably wants to confirm... your quality." He paused, "You were too calm when you saw him just now."
Naruto was taken aback, recalling how Danzō had stared at him and exerted pressure.
"What an annoying guy..." He scratched his head, annoyed that the man had gained some information from him without saying a word.
"Don't worry about it, you're still young, and 'that you' hasn't experienced these tricks..." Jiraiya comforted him.
"But if I want to become Hokage, I can't just fall into their rhythm so easily, can I?" Naruto smiled, having figured it out himself.
Jiraiya also smiled and suddenly said, "We're here."
Naruto stopped and looked around curiously. This looked like nothing more than the depths of an ordinary dense forest.
Jiraiya walked around, found a spot, formed hand seals, and slammed his palm onto the ground. With a rumble, a square entrance appeared on the ground.
"Let's go in," Jiraiya said, jumping into the entrance first.
Naruto followed, leaping in.
After winding through the dark corridor, they finally stopped with Jiraiya in front of a door in a deep secret room.
Jiraiya formed hand seals, a complex forty-eight seals, before placing his right hand on the thick iron door. With a heavy thud, the iron door opened, and Jiraiya led Naruto inside.
The iron door closed.
Upon entering, Naruto saw the Third Hokage and Tsunade already inside.
It was a spacious secret room. Powerful lights on the ceiling and surrounding walls illuminated the entire room as if it were daylight, and the focal point of all the light was a square black bench.
Orochimaru sat on the bench.
His hands and feet were firmly bound to the armrests and legs of the bench with black material. His entire body was covered in dense black Curse Marks and runes, and two sets of Curse Marks even crossed directly through his heart, like two black chains binding his heart, securing him tightly to the bench.
"This is something the three of us worked on together for several days and nights to complete. It can completely suppress the chakra within him," Jiraiya explained.
Naruto remained silent. He saw Orochimaru, after his entrance, staring at him with his only exposed, dark yellow, vertical pupil.
His eyes held amusement, excitement, curiosity, sinister intent, and coldness. Naruto had never imagined that a person's gaze could be so complex.
"You truly make me very curious... you little Nine-Tails brat..."
Orochimaru said hoarsely.
"Even in this state, like a stray dog, you're still curious, Orochimaru." Tsunade crossed her arms, mocking him. She couldn't stand this lunatic-like behavior of Orochimaru's.
"It seems you're very curious... why Naruto has been able to grow so quickly." The Third Hokage spoke, looking at Orochimaru, who was securely bound to the chair.
"Oh? It seems you intend to tell me..." Orochimaru said.
Tsunade and Jiraiya remained silent.
The Third Hokage chuckled silently and continued, "You know, Orochimaru... originally, you could have had your wish." A sharp glint flashed in the old man's cloudy eyes. "After disguising yourself as the Kazekage, you could have at least taken this old man's life."
Orochimaru let out a dry laugh and slowly said, "It seems you really know everything? Could it be that you can see the future?"
Jiraiya spoke, "Sometimes your intuition is truly terrifying, Orochimaru."
His snake-like eyes narrowed slightly.
Naruto looked at Orochimaru, who had nowhere left to run, and said, "When I was six years old, that is, six years ago, I did see the future..." After thinking for a moment, he decided there was no need to explain that he had obtained a portion of chakra from his "future self." He continued, "I saw the future all the way until I was 17."
Orochimaru was silent for a moment, then he laughed, "Hahaha... how very interesting... you old guys, and this little Nine-Tails brat..." He stopped laughing. "If that's the case, are you still letting those Sand Village people stay in Konoha?"
Then he answered his own question, "No, I guess..." Orochimaru's yellowish-brown pupils slowly scanned Tsunade, the Third Hokage, Jiraiya, and Naruto before him. "You're probably thinking of capturing the Sand Jinchuriki alive, and then forcing Sunagakure to exchange for their Jinchuriki, right? Konoha also needs its long-lost 'prestige'... Am I right, Teacher Sarutobi?"
Naruto looked at Jiraiya beside him in surprise, then at the Third Hokage and Tsunade. None of them denied it.
Orochimaru burst into laughter on the bench.
"Interesting, truly interesting..."
As they walked out, the Third Hokage walked beside Naruto, both of them silent.
Naruto was displeased with their actions, but he couldn't object. After all, it was for the village's benefit, but he still felt uncomfortable with this approach.
The Third Hokage suddenly spoke, "Naruto, after the Chunin Exams end and you and Jiraiya are about to depart... I plan to have Sasuke accompany you."
"Huh?" Naruto was surprised. It wasn't the surprise of leaving the village "again" with Jiraiya, but the surprise of bringing Sasuke along. Of course, he wouldn't refuse, and he nodded, "That would be great."
The Third Hokage slowly added, "Also, bring Orochimaru along."
"Huh?" This time, Naruto was truly stunned.
