Yet the idea would not immediately stampede through every Tierra's mind like an uncontrollable wild horse. Rather, like a cloud data update, thoughts concerning magically enhanced artificial technology would surface only when Tierra needed them.

For instance, one Tierra who was still staying up late at the British Magical Federation's London office suddenly had this plan appear in his mind. He raised a hand and waved it, and a quill and sheet of paper materialized before him. Tierra began vigorously drafting a proposal for magically enhanced artificial technology.

Meanwhile, in the Forbidden Forest, after walking for another twenty minutes or so, Tierra heard a loud clacking sound.

The loud clacking came from afar, drawing closer and closer.

Something long and furry scooped him up around the waist, leaving him suspended face-down in midair.

Tierra relaxed his entire body. Hanging upside down, he saw that the creature holding him had six bizarrely long legs covered in thick bristles, while two more legs in front clamped tightly around him. Above them was a pair of gleaming black pincers. Countless creatures of the same kind surrounded it, all resembling giant spiders—some larger, some smaller. They eagerly rubbed their mouthparts together, producing excited, greedy whispers.

The spider carrying Tierra moved toward the center of the woods.

About five minutes later, the darkness around them seemed to recede somewhat. Tierra saw that the leaf-covered ground was now densely packed with spiders, large and small.
