Background / History

Yun Chuan arrived in the shinobi world roughly a year before his first recorded appearance and obtained the Villain Template System, which can award villain-derived templates after he defeats or kills individuals with relevant traits. His early survival depended on Shiki Nanaya’s stealth arts and the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception. 2

He retains memories of a past life and pursues revenge against people who wronged him there, including the Scarred Sand Ninja he kills after entering the Land of Rain. 3 He first meets Yahiko and Konan after saving them from Sand Ninja, then later takes in Jiyun and Jiyu and leads the children toward a place “where the sun rises.” 2 9

Yun Chuan develops a fortified settlement in the Land of Rain that grows into Dawn. Its early measures include a difficult-to-forge household-registration system, employment for refugees at double market wages, property stability, concealed security forces, and planned housing suited to the region’s climate. 17 18

After meeting Nagato, Yun Chuan gives him the Tsukimiri surname and completes the Founding of Akatsuki quest. 19 He later expands Dawn’s influence through military, economic, educational, agricultural, medical, intelligence, and weapons-development programs. 108 193 194

Yun Chuan is a youthful-looking man with deep blue eyes and a composed expression. He commonly wears a wide black robe and carries a short blade or Tachi; despite his outwardly harmless appearance, his physique is extensively trained and built for explosive combat. 9 23 25

He kills efficiently, exploits opponents’ psychological weaknesses, and views mercy as a strategic choice rather than an absolute principle. 3 80 83 He believes strength must be earned through training and personal resolve; abilities granted by templates are only potential unless he develops the body and discipline to use them. 25

His stated private motivation is not conventional peace or heroism. He finds the stagnant shinobi world boring and wants to overturn its established order because creating a new world is personally amusing to him. 158
