Background

Nagato was found by Yun Chuan unconscious in a ruined village beside the bodies of two Konoha ninja. By then, Nagato's parents had already died, leaving Yun Chuan unable to recruit them as well. Initially withdrawn and isolated, Nagato watched Yun Chuan build the City of Daybreak and gradually became more involved with its people. 20

Yun Chuan deliberately kept Nagato close because of the Rinnegan and his rare Uzumaki potential. Nagato came to view his eyes as “cursed,” particularly after discovering that a White Zetsu had been parasitizing him without his notice. The incident made him suspect that both his parents’ deaths and the origin of his eyes were tied to manipulation from the shadows. 20 27 39
