Background

Tang San was originally the most outstanding genius of the Tang Sect’s outer branch. After stealing and memorizing the inner branch’s secret manuals, including the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record, he leapt from a cliff and reincarnated on Douluo Continent with his memories intact. He intends to recreate the Tang Sect’s hidden-weapon legacy in his new world. 2

He was born in Holy Soul Village to Tang Hao. His mother died in childbirth, and Tang San spent nearly a year learning the language of his new world. Tang Hao worked as a blacksmith but drank heavily and left most household responsibilities to his son; Tang San cooked, accepted work orders, and maintained their home from an early age. 2 3

Tang San began cultivating the Mysterious Heaven Skill shortly after his first birthday. Before awakening his Martial Soul, he trained the foundations of the Tang Sect arts, including his hands, eyes, movement, and forging ability. 3 5

Appearance

After the Blue Silver Emperor awakening, Tang San’s complexion becomes fairer, his eyes turn a bright dark blue, and he gains medium-length dark-blue hair. His features become notably more striking while retaining a resolute expression. 143

  • Eight Spider Lances can emerge from his back; each is over three meters long, purple-black at first, and sharp-tipped. 63
  • His Blue Silver Grass changes from blue-black to a lustrous blue-violet after his third Soul Ring. 63
  • The awakened Blue Silver Emperor bloodline significantly alters his appearance and presence. 143

Personality

Tang San is disciplined, patient, and intensely self-directed. He spends spare time cultivating rather than socializing, does not consider himself a natural genius, and attributes his progress to persistent work and the knowledge he retained from the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record. 7 69 88

He is guarded about his origins and capabilities. The first rule he follows from the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record is never to expose the full extent of his strength to anyone not completely trusted; this principle guides his concealment of his Twin Martial Souls and hidden weapons. 11 16

Tang San is also deeply protective of those close to him. He risks his life to pursue Lan Xue after the Titan Giant Ape takes her, withstands an over-limit Soul Ring absorption with her safety in mind, and consistently acts as a stabilizing strategist for the Shrek Seven Devils. 60 63 76 82

Abilities & Skills

Blue Silver Grass / Blue Silver Emperor

Tang San’s primary Martial Soul initially appears to be ordinary Blue Silver Grass, despite his Innate Full Soul Power. It is later revealed to possess the dormant bloodline of the Blue Silver Emperor. 9 143

  • Entanglement — Binds opponents with Blue Silver Grass; against similarly ranked foes, its paralytic poison can weaken and immobilize targets. 57 103
  • Parasite — His second Soul Skill, used through Blue Silver Grass. 70
  • Spiderweb Restraint — His third Soul Skill creates a dense, five-meter-wide Blue Silver Grass web for large-area restraint. It consumes substantial Soul Power. 65
  • The Man Faced Demon Spider Soul Ring makes his Blue Silver Grass tougher and grants it enhanced poisonous thorns and corrosive venom. 65 75
  • His plant-type Martial Soul is vulnerable to fire; Ma Hongjun’s Phoenix Flame rapidly burns through its bindings. 35 65
  • As the Blue Silver Emperor, he is recognized by Blue Silver Grass throughout the forest as their emperor and can receive their gathered power of faith. 143

Black Hammer Martial Soul

Tang San’s second Martial Soul is a small, patterned black hammer manifested in his left hand. It is extraordinarily heavy and consumes far more internal strength than Blue Silver Grass. 11

  • Tang Hao orders him never to attach Soul Rings to it, reveal it, or disclose his Twin Martial Souls except in a life-or-death emergency. 16
  • By the Man Faced Demon Spider battle, the hammer weighs roughly five hundred jin; Tang San can accurately throw it within ten meters. 60
  • Pouring his Soul Power into a throw produces more than a thousand jin of force, enough to launch the spider into the air. 60
  • Contact with the hammer softens metal, greatly assisting his hidden-weapon forging, but its use drains his Soul Power and stamina. 88

Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record

Tang San retained the Tang Sect’s supreme manual from his previous life. Its six martial arts form the basis of his cultivation and hidden-weapon mastery. 2 3

  • Mysterious Heaven Skill — Internal cultivation method that becomes closely linked with his Soul Power after Spirit Awakening. 9 11
  • Mystic Jade Hands — Toughens his palms, prevents blistering during forging, and grants resistance to toxins. 5 13
  • Purple Demon Eyes — Cultivated at sunrise; heightens vision and allows him to track fast, deceptive attacks. 5 57
  • Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon — Grappling and force-redirection technique based on borrowing force against force. 14 74
  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — Movement technique used for rapid footwork and evasive repositioning. 17 74
  • Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer — Tang Hao’s forging method, which Tang San learns through repeated hammer strikes and later masters during two years of special training. 14 142

Eight Spider Lances

Tang San acquires eight spider-like appendages while absorbing the Man Faced Demon Spider’s third Soul Ring. Master identifies them as an External Soul Bone rather than a Martial Soul mutation. 63 66

  • The lances carry potent poison; Ma Hongjun is poisoned after touching one, though Tang San neutralizes the toxin. 63
  • They can retract into Tang San’s body as streams of energy connected to his ribs. 63
  • Their activation consumes comparatively little Soul Power. 66
  • Opening his First Meridian greatly improves their speed of use and retraction. 96
  • Tang San uses the lances alongside the Godly Zhuge Crossbow to defeat Tai Nuo, an opponent stronger than himself. 120

Hidden Weapons and Forging

Tang San is an expert in Tang Sect mechanical hidden weapons and combines that knowledge with blacksmithing learned from Tang Hao. 2 12 15

  • He creates a Sleeve Arrow from Iron Essence, making it his first hidden weapon in this world. 15
  • He defeats Meng Yiran in a hidden-weapon contest using Soul Piercing Blades and teaches her to favor Bone Penetrating Needles instead. 62
  • His Godly Zhuge Crossbow demonstrates exceptional firing speed and destructive power. 63
  • He develops the Flying Sky Divine Claw, a custom steel claw used for movement, retrieval, and pulling Soul Beasts into Dugu Bo’s poison formation. 88 127
  • He secures a manufacturing partnership with Tie Xin’s blacksmith family to produce hidden weapons in quantity. 68 69

Ice Fire Yin Yang Well Tempering

Tang San consumes the poisonous Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass and Infernal Delicate Apricot, then enters the Ice Fire Yin Yang Well to endure their opposing energies. 107

  • The process inflicts pain surpassing his third Soul Ring absorption. 107
  • The herbs and well continuously temper his body; his skin and internal organs become far tougher than those of an ordinary person. 121
  • The lingering ice-and-fire medicinal power continues to be absorbed over time. 121

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges — Storage Soul Tool given to him by Master. 113
  • Ruyi Treasure Sack — Storage Soul Tool gifted by Dugu Bo; unlike the Moonlit Bridges, it can store living things. 113
  • Sleeve Arrow — First hidden weapon he forges in this world. 15
  • Godly Zhuge Crossbow — Rapid-fire mechanical hidden weapon with dangerous offensive power. 63 87
  • Soul Piercing Blades — Throwing blades used in his contest with Meng Yiran. 62
  • Sub-Mother Soul Chasing Life Stealing Bullet — Hidden weapon that releases Bone-Melting God Needles upon collision or external interference. 113
  • Flying Sky Divine Claws — Custom-made steel claws distributed to his Shrek companions. 88

Relationships

  • Tang Hao — Father and first forging teacher. Tang San cares for him despite his alcoholism and follows his order to conceal the black hammer and Twin Martial Souls. Their reunion leads to two years of intensive training. 3 16 142
  • Lan Xue — His sister and closest companion. They cultivate, forge, fight, and travel together; Tang San risks his life to find her after her abduction by the Titan Giant Ape. 5 60 63
  • Master (Yu Xiaogang) — Tang San’s formal teacher and a father figure after Tang Hao disappears. Master guides his Martial Soul development and protects the secret of the Eight Spider Lances. 21 65 96
  • Shrek Seven Devils — His teammates and closest peers. Tang San often serves as their strategist, battlefield connector, and morale leader. 76 82 84
  • Dugu Bo — Initially captures Tang San and Lan Xue in retaliation for Dugu Yan’s defeat. Their relationship shifts after Tang San treats Dugu Bo’s poison and helps cure his granddaughter; Dugu Bo later becomes a senior advisor at Shrek Academy. 103 113
  • Ning Rongrong — Friend and business partner. Tang San supplies her sect with mechanical hidden weapons and later gives her the Spirit Condensation Wisdom Skull after the elite competition. 64 87 140
  • Titan — Initially pressures Tang San in a wager over Tailong, then recognizes his black hammer and addresses him as “Young Master” because of Tang Hao. 121
