Tang San grew up in Holy Soul Village in poverty and was avoided by other children because of his family circumstances. Yuan Luo was his only childhood companion and supported him during the spirit-awakening ceremony and his later enrollment at Notting Junior Academy 2.

At his awakening, Tang San received Blue Silver Grass as a martial soul. Though it was regarded as useless, he possessed Innate Full Soul Power and remained confident in his potential 2. At Notting Junior Academy, Grandmaster identified him as the possessor of Twin Martial Souls and took him as a disciple 9.

After Tang Hao's departure, Tang San struggled emotionally, but Yuan Luo's encouragement during a visit to Holy Soul Village helped restore his confidence 11. He later entered Shrek Academy alongside Xiao Wu and participated in the assessment battle against Zhao Wuji, where he directed the team's opening strategy with Blue Silver Grass control 36.

Tang San is determined, resilient, and highly protective of his friends. He continues difficult training even when punished, running twelve laps rather than the assigned ten 50.
