The line dividing his expulsion from Greece marked the point where Herpo the Foul's art of rule before and after seemed like that of two entirely different men.

This further confirmed the existence of the so-called "Karkaroff," because all the knowledge that supported Herpo the Foul in launching his powerful empire was not something he could have gleaned from the life experience of a savage warlord, nor could it have come from divine revelation. Though the myths and legends believed by the Ancient Greeks were filled with barbaric tones that defied human ethics, they would never have handed knowledge capable of shaping a golden age to a brutal warlord, then allowed him to use that knowledge to accomplish evil deeds.

We still do not know what exactly happened in that ancient seaport of Alexandria. Some said Herpo the Foul sacrificed the people of an entire city to complete his Dark Magic. Some said he gained Egypt's support at the cost of betraying Greece's interests. Some said he truly opened the Veil to the Underworld there. But archaeology in Alexandria tells us that the city was founded after that war ended, as if before then, no one had ever set foot on that beach.

We do not know what that brief period of preparation buried, to the point that even the thousand years of recorded history of Alexandria were covered over, but what we can know is this: four months after he fled, a sea route straight from Egypt to Greece was opened. The history books described it as "a corridor-bridge paved with white bones, propped up by the skeletons of Dragons and sea serpents." His cruelty brought him the strength to launch a counterattack.
