"Vegeta!"
After hearing Adri's remarks, Chaya could not help narrowing his eyes. Vegeta's birth meant that Planet Vegeta's destruction by Frieza was not far off.
It might happen within the next two or three years.
He recalled the original story. When Planet Vegeta was destroyed, Vegeta had been around five or six years old—perhaps five. Next, Chaya needed to keep an eye on Bardock's family. By his estimate, Son Goku's older brother, Raditz, had likely been born around this time as well.
Son Goku had been born on the very day Frieza attacked Planet Vegeta. What gave Chaya a headache, however, was that Bardock's family did not live in the region where he currently was. In other words, he had no way to learn about Bardock's family for the time being. That was rather troublesome!
"And Vegeta truly is one of the Saiyans' greatest geniuses. His power level was already this high at birth. In a few more months, it should break 500. Tsk, tsk. More than 500 power level at just over two years old... at this rate, he might reach 1,000 before Planet Vegeta is destroyed. No wonder Frieza took him away as a hostage to study the Super Saiyan..."
Chaya silently calculated.
If events continued along this path, Vegeta's power would definitely surpass 10,000 by adulthood. That was not much different from the original story. In other words, this butterfly had yet to stir up any changes in the plot!
Of course, that was only natural. His own origins were insignificant among the Saiyans, and he had left Planet Vegeta at a very young age. The influence he could have caused was indeed limited.
Comparing it to his own training, Chaya felt somewhat emotional.
Vegeta's starting point had been far higher than his, yet the time at which they reached a power level of 1,000 would be nearly the same. Chaya had broken through 1,000 at just over five years old, while in the original story, Vegeta could defeat a Saibaman at that age as well. Their breakthrough times were almost identical, but Chaya should actually have been ahead, because he had trained his way up from a power level below 100.
After that, however, the gap between them had clearly widened. Chaya had gone to Earth and trained in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, allowing his power level to surpass 10,000 far earlier. That was an achievement Vegeta would only possess after reaching adulthood.
If I hadn't chosen to go to Earth and had returned directly to Planet Vegeta instead, King Vegeta and the others might already have set their sights on me...
Chaya pondered quietly, feeling pleased with his own foresight. There were not so many what-ifs in life. Even if King Vegeta wanted to deal with him now and eliminate him to preserve his rule, he would still have to see whether he possessed the ability to do so.
"By the way, Uncle Adri, what do you think Frieza's attitude toward us Saiyans is?" Chaya asked deliberately.
Adri clearly had not expected Chaya to ask such a question. He looked at him in surprise, then frowned slightly after thinking for a moment. "Lord Frieza is the undisputed emperor of the universe. The Saiyans have always found success working under Lord Frieza, but... Lord Frieza's attitude toward us..."
"It's very cold. He even seems somewhat disgusted by us!"
Adri was a perceptive man. The reason the Saiyans and Frieza had joined together was largely because each had what the other needed. The Saiyans were warlike and needed the various networks supported by Frieza's vast power, while Frieza valued the Saiyans' desire for battle and used them as tools. It was unrealistic to say there was much affection between them.
Adri had long seen through Frieza's nature. He also knew that in the eyes of the emperor of the universe, the Saiyans were nothing more than insignificant dogs and ants. What he did not realize was that Frieza's attitude toward the Saiyans was not merely disgust. His madness and malice ran so deep that he wanted nothing more than to destroy them personally.
"But what worries me is that King Vegeta has always been dissatisfied with Frieza, who stands over him. I fear that King Vegeta will eventually lead the Saiyans in rebellion!" Adri abruptly stopped there. This topic was no longer suitable to continue.
Chaya looked at Uncle Adri in surprise. He had not expected this burly man, who appeared so rough on the outside, to be capable of peeling back the layers and seeing the heart of the matter! Such talent was rare among Saiyans.
"What if King Vegeta really starts a rebellion?" Rebecca asked worriedly. The other side was known as the emperor of the universe. Could the Saiyans truly claim the final victory with their strength? Victory would be fine, but what if they failed? Would the Saiyans still have room to survive?
"If we can't win, we can run away!" Selyne said carelessly.
"What nonsense are you talking about? How can Saiyans flee without fighting? Would we still be Saiyans then?"
Adri frowned and rebuked her.
Yet Chaya thought Selyne was right. As long as the hills remained, there would always be firewood to burn. He should give Adri and Rebecca a warning, which would also make things easier for him later. After thinking for a moment, he said, "But I heard that Frieza has actually harbored ill intentions toward the Saiyans all along. The only reason he keeps the Saiyans by his side is because he fears that the legendary Super Saiyan might appear among us and threaten his rule!"
"The legendary Super Saiyan? Heh, that's just a legend!"
Adri smiled and shook his head in disbelief. Such rumors had always circulated among the Saiyans, but no one had ever seen a Super Saiyan. As time passed, fewer and fewer people believed the legend.
"But you're right about one thing. The Saiyans and Frieza ultimately cannot coexist! King Vegeta must have been preparing for a long time already," Adri murmured.
"Unfortunately, they do not know Frieza's true strength. This rebellion will ultimately fail! And the result of that failure will be the destruction of Planet Vegeta."
Countless tangled thoughts flashed through Chaya's mind.
The next day, the sun shone brightly.
After sleeping comfortably beneath the covers, Chaya got up early and began training in the backyard.
Although this low-intensity exercise could not offer him much help, he still performed every movement meticulously, as if it had become a habit. Soon, Selyne joined him. The two exchanged blows back and forth without pause, having a wonderful time.
A fierce whirlwind swept through the backyard, gently bending the surrounding vegetation.
A short while later, the blazing sun had climbed high into the sky. The two stopped where they stood, their breathing calm and steady, their faces neither flushed nor strained, as though they had not exercised intensely at all.
Those movements from before had not even counted as a warm-up.
Rebecca was still inside preparing breakfast. A delicious fragrance drifted over, and Selyne's eyes immediately lit up at the scent. She abandoned Chaya and ran toward the kitchen alone.
"What a little glutton," Chaya murmured softly. After Selyne left, he sat alone on a stone bench at one side of the backyard, closed his eyes, and quietly cultivated himself.
"Jingle, jangle!" A string of bell-like sounds rang out.
"Hey, you there. Is Master Adri home?" an arrogant voice called.
Chaya opened his eyes, and a sharp glint flashed through his dark pupils. Entering his sight was a small figure wearing a compact battle suit.
"Hey, I'm talking to you! Did you hear me?" The figure grew impatient, her voice turning shrill.
"If you want to ask someone something, be more polite. With that attitude, I won't answer you." Chaya closed his eyes again, with no intention of paying her any attention.
"You..."
Her voice caught, then she snorted coldly and said proudly, "Hmph, I get it. So you're that Mid-Class Warrior from Master Adri's family. Let me tell you, I'm an Elite Warrior, not someone you can afford to offend. If it weren't for you people, Master Adri would already have taken me out on a mission today!"
So she's the Saiyan child Uncle Adri leads. Just a little brat!
