Background / History

Selyne was sent with Chaya to Planet Selma to eliminate its native race. Though initially discouraged after learning that many natives possessed combat powers near or above her own, she resolved to train harder so they could complete the mission and return home sooner. The two established a hidden shelter, hunted for food, and trained daily amid Planet Selma’s dangerous wildlife. 5 6

Under Chaya’s guidance, Selyne began training without relying on her Scouter, developing her combat technique and rudimentary awareness of Ki. She delighted in battle and showed the Saiyans’ natural brutality while hunting, though Chaya attempted to guide her away from needless cruelty. 6 7 13

During a full moon on Selma, Selyne transformed into a Giant Ape and attacked Chaya without recognizing him. Her rampage devastated their home valley and severely injured him before he cut off her tail, ending the transformation. She was devastated upon learning what she had done, but accepted that losing her tail was necessary to prevent another loss of control. 8 9 10

After three years on Selma, Selyne travelled with Chaya to Earth through his Instant Transmission. There, she trained under Korin, Kami, and Mr. Popo, learning Ki control, energy suppression, and martial-arts discipline. She entered the Hyperbolic Time Chamber before Chaya, emerging after a year with power near 10,000. 12 15 17 20

Selyne later returned to Planet Vegeta with Chaya, concealing her true power. She reunited warmly with Rebecca and Adri, joined Chaya Squad for missions on Dotalia and Longju Stars, and helped conceal Chaya’s activities while he investigated Planet Frieza. 26 32 35 38 46 47

Appearance

Selyne is a dark-haired female Saiyan who grows rapidly during her training on Earth. After leaving the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, she has long, cloud-like hair, phoenix-like brows, bright eyes, and a youthful but increasingly mature build. 20

Personality

Selyne is energetic, direct, and highly food-motivated. Even as a young child, danger and frustration could quickly be displaced by the prospect of a meal. She is mischievous at home, openly complains when annoyed, and takes obvious pleasure in Earth’s cuisine and scenery. 5 6 23 24

Like many Saiyans, she enjoys combat and carries considerable pride in her strength. She is competitive with Chaya, eager to show off her gains, and initially dismissive of opponents she considers weak. However, she listens to Chaya, Rebecca, and Adri when they warn her about caution or combat awareness. 20 22 33 46

Despite her pride, Selyne is affectionate toward her family. She trusted Chaya completely after the Selma incident, worried about taking all of his Senzu Beans, and was eager to reunite with her parents on Planet Vegeta. 10 20 26
