Background / History

Born from one of thirty-six dragon eggs, the Nefarious Dragon King was the weakest hatchling and was abandoned by his mother. Nefarious Dragons were despised even by the wider Dragon race: their black-purple coloration and six claws set them apart from ordinary dragons. Left to endure repeated suffering, he eventually fell into the Taiyin Long River, where he survived and strengthened his blood essence and physique. 421 423 461

During his time at the Taiyin Long River, he encountered the Moon Laurel Tree. He drank from the river, consumed its leaves, and later received Moon Laurel Fruits from the tree. This upbringing created his lasting attachment to the Taiyin Star Lord and his vow that no one but her would ever ride him. 425 461 462

He later entered the Six Desires Demon Realm, became one of its Six Desires Heavenly Demon Kings, and rose to become its strongest figure. Following the destruction of that realm, he escaped to the Nine Heavens World to seek the Candle Dragon Tendon, Candle Dragon Eyes, and the Taiyin Star Lord. 421 424 425

Appearance

The Nefarious Dragon King can assume a horned human form, but his true body is a colossal six-clawed dragon whose coloration lies between black and purple. When serving as the core of the Six Desires Demon Formation, he can coil into an armored, pangolin-like defensive shape. 421 423 446

  • Possesses six claws, unlike the five-clawed dragons of the Dragon race. 421
  • Can expand into a dragon body of roughly one hundred thousand zhang. 370
  • Wears black clothing in human form and has prominent dragon horns. 421
  • Has jet-black scales capable of regenerating after being shattered. 446 447
  • Retains a skeletal dragon body even after his flesh and blood are destroyed. 448 449

Personality

The Nefarious Dragon King is fiercely prideful and treats fame as more valuable than survival. When Su Changqing offers him the Candle Dragon Tendon and help toward the Grand Luo Emperor realm in exchange for becoming a mount, he refuses repeatedly, believing submission would ruin the Dao and reputation for which he suffered his entire life. 423

He is cruel, arrogant, and openly contemptuous toward weaker dragons, especially the Four Sea Dragon Kings. He seized the East Sea Dragon Palace, demanded turtle soup, and later used the Ancestral Dragon's inheritance to pressure Dragon Kings into supporting his new realm. 422 492

Despite his viciousness, he is capable of loyalty and gratitude. His devotion to the Taiyin Star Lord comes from her Long River and the Moon Laurel Tree's aid during his childhood. He ultimately recognizes Su Changqing's overwhelming ability, serves him as a subordinate, and invokes Su Changqing's name to legitimize the Dragon Realm. 424 425 493
