History

Settlement and conquest

Vermillion Bird Star was originally a desolate cultivation star inhabited by the rune-wielding Immortal Remnant Clan. After the Vermillion Bird Kingdom rose to Sixth Grade, the Cultivation Alliance granted it control of the star. The kingdom fought the Immortal Remnant Clan for hundreds of years, eventually prevailing at the cost of hundreds of Soul Transformation cultivators. 53

The first Vermillion Bird, Ye Wuyou, established Vermillion Bird Mountain as the control center for the Vermillion Bird core after the conquest. Successive Vermillion Birds used their authority to prevent subordinate Fifth-Grade Cultivation Nations from advancing to Sixth Grade, preserving the kingdom’s absolute dominance. 53

At one point, the star contained eighteen Fifth-Rank cultivation kingdoms, each required to possess a Nascent Soul Transformation cultivator. The Giant Demon Race also held a kingdom after migrating from beyond the territory under an agreement with a former Vermillion Bird. 21

Rule of the Fourteenth Vermillion Bird

The fourteenth Vermillion Bird Successor ruled as the star’s strongest cultivator, holding peak Soul Transformation cultivation. His control relied on the Star Control Crystal and Star Control Heart, which contained the life souls of cultivators below the Soul Transformation stage; activating the system could cause those cultivators to explode and die. 67 140

Seeking to escape his dwindling lifespan, the fourteenth Successor attempted to seize Lin Che’s body or devour his lifespan. He attacked the Snow Domain Kingdom with other Soul Transformation experts, destroyed Glacial Ice City with Vermillion Bird Sacred Fire, and wielded the Immortal Treasure Vermillion Bird Sword. 72 73 76

After Blood Fiend sacrificed hundreds of millions of Vermillion Bird Kingdom mortals and cultivators during his battle with Lin Che, the Successor considered crushing the Star Control Crystal and taking the cultivators of Vermillion Bird Star with him. He ultimately surrendered the crystal and Vermillion Bird Seal to Lin Che, accepted responsibility for his actions, and died. 158 159

Li Qiqing’s succession

Lin Che later entrusted the Star Control Crystal and the Guardian Azure Dragon bloodline to Li Qiqing. The crystal transferred the operating secrets of the star array and the inheritance memories of former Successors into Li Qiqing, confirming him as the fifteenth Vermillion Bird Successor. 162

Under Li Qiqing’s administration, Vermillion Bird Star became more prosperous, while the Immortal Remnant Clan followed its agreement with Lin Che not to attack the star’s cultivation nations. 193

Spiritual-energy crisis and invasion

Centuries later, Vermillion Bird Star’s spiritual energy was intercepted and its mines sealed, reducing its available spiritual energy to less than one-tenth of its former level. The crisis threatened cultivation across the star and gave the Immortal Remnant Clan an opportunity to consider reclaiming control. 300 301

The Star Hunters subsequently invaded through a spatial rift under Sikong Zhen’s orders. Li Qiqing and Immortal Remnant Ancestor Mei Ji defended the star alongside its cultivators. 302 303

Star Control Crystal and Star Control Heart

The Star Control Crystal is the core treasure of Vermillion Bird Star and was historically held by each Vermillion Bird Successor. The Star Control Heart controls it through the Successor’s lifespan. 140 162
