As Mash, Ritsuka, and the others cautiously infiltrated the town, the first thing they saw was a woman frantically whipping a man whose neck, hands, and feet were all shackled. The man had already been beaten to the point of barely breathing, yet she showed no sign of stopping, whipping him to death right before their eyes.
The other women nearby watched the scene with excited expressions. Then some of them followed suit, beginning to whip the men beside them. That was right—every woman here had at least one man with a shackle around his neck at her side.
The sight immediately left Mash and Ritsuka stunned. Having experienced Humanity Incineration, they could be considered well-traveled and knowledgeable, but this was still the first time they had witnessed something like this.
