Background

Jiang Chuan entered the Warrior Monk Institute after placing 198th in Bodhi Temple’s assessment. Early in his cultivation, he traveled to the East Sea seeking information on Ji Xinyu, attempted to purchase intelligence from the Heavenly Dao Pavilion, and planned to sell a Qingyuan Realm Fairy Directory for funds. Elder Jingyun recognized his talent despite his poor assessment ranking. 4

As a Bodhi Temple disciple, Jiang Chuan formed a unique contract with the Great Sun Divine Bell—the only such contract in the temple’s recorded history. He later left the temple’s orthodox path, inherited the Dark Universe Demonic Venerable’s legacy, and developed formidable demonic arts, though he repeatedly rejected the label of “demonic cultivator.” 135 158 181

His connection to the Jiang family of Taicang was strained. Jiang Wenyuan was identified as his father, but Jiang Chuan had few memories of the family and refused to regard himself as a member. His search for Jiang Yingyue revealed that she was not his blood sister; they later acknowledged one another as senior sister and junior brother through their shared link to the Candle Illumination Immortal Codex. 167 168 270

Appearance

Jiang Chuan is repeatedly described as a handsome, tall young man with a commanding presence. At the Jiang Residence, his bearing was compared to that of a youthful deity walking out of the river of time. 167

  • Black hair, often falling loosely over his shoulders. 167
  • Usually carries a sword, including the Biluo Sword in later battles. 218
  • Wore the Jiangshan Dao Yi, whose mountain-and-river motifs enhanced his imposing demeanor. 167
  • Possesses a powerful, highly trained physique described as resembling divine metal tempered a thousand times. 244
  • His demonic aura, when released, has been compared to a peerless demon king descending from the heavens. 135

Personality

Jiang Chuan is confident, calculating, and frequently irreverent toward authority. He uses information, simulations, formations, and tactical retreats rather than relying only on direct force. When overwhelmed, he is willing to withdraw and return better prepared, as shown during his escape from Ji Yanran and his retreat from Hundred Aspects City. 80 205

Despite his arrogance and habit of calling himself “Patriarch Jiang” or comparing himself to historic supreme figures, he does not consider himself indiscriminately violent. He avoids unnecessary fights when possible, but responds decisively when threatened. 168 292

He is fiercely driven by the need for greater strength, especially after encountering opponents beyond his current level. His concern for allies and willingness to confront wider threats coexist with his opportunism, greed for treasures, and tendency to provoke others through blunt remarks. 213 313
