Background / History

Mu Bingyun was the leader of Bamboo Immortal Island's Seven Elites and was renowned throughout the Qingyuan Realm as the Sword Fairy. Admirers paired her with Maha Hall prodigy Ji Yanran as the “Twin Peerless of the Outer Path.” 37

She first encountered Jiang Chuan while pursuing the fugitive Wan Shanhe. Drawn to the swords he carried, she immediately asked to spar with him; their duel ended with her victory. 37 Her repeated desire to test Jiang Chuan's swordsmanship became a defining feature of their early interactions. She later arranged a future duel at Danfeng Mountain, deliberately allowing time for Jiang Chuan to narrow their cultivation gap. 76 78

Before the Danfeng Mountain battle, Mu Bingyun received the inheritance of the White River Sword Immortal and cultivated the Primordial Sword of Innate Chaos Taiji Myriad Phenomena Origin. Jiang Chuan defeated her by exploiting the incomplete separation of its Yin and Yang aspects with Cloud Severing Azure Sky; she accepted the loss while vowing to win their next encounter. 163 164

Daoist Yunmiao subsequently recognized her as Sword Immortal Bai He's successor and bestowed the Yin-Yang Great Dao stone tablets upon her. The tablets became central treasures for her future Dao. 211 She later used them to empower her sword art and pass Wan Jin Immortal King's trial, receiving a piece of Light Immortal Gold as part of his inheritance. 300

Following years of cultivation and separation from Jiang Chuan, Mu Bingyun advanced rapidly through the higher realms. After her Immortal Ascension Tribulation, Wu Zhe captured her, but the Primal Spirit Divine Lord intervened and accepted her as a disciple. 460 The Azure Emperor later confirmed that she had traveled through the River of Time and inherited the Primal Spirit Divine Lord's Sword Dao in the Middle Antiquity era. 473

Appearance

Mu Bingyun is consistently depicted as an ethereal blue-clad sword fairy whose appearance contrasts sharply with her battle-hungry temperament. 37 152

  • Wears blue robes and carries a silver longsword. 37 152
  • Has waist-length black hair, bright eyes, white teeth, and clear jade-like skin. 37
  • Wears a lotus-shaped jade hairpin that emits a faint blue or cyan glow. 37 523
  • Is frequently compared to an immortal or moon-palace fairy descended into the mortal world. 37 152 378

Personality

Mu Bingyun is direct, competitive, and intensely devoted to the Sword Dao. Despite her graceful and seemingly aloof appearance, she eagerly seeks strong opponents and repeatedly challenges Jiang Chuan to sword duels. 37 76 148 She considers combat an essential means of testing and improving her swordsmanship. 422

She is also caring, loyal, and emotionally perceptive. She provides Jiang Chuan with a scripture to treat his Dao injuries, worries over his safety, and recognizes how deeply he values the people close to him. 243 387 Although she is possessive and easily provoked by suggestions of Jiang Chuan's relationships with other women, she ultimately agrees that Chu Qingyi may be with him because she does not want Jiang Chuan to be left alone should tragedy befall her. 302 387 391

Her loyalty extends to decisive self-sacrifice. She risks her standing with her master to protect Jiang Chuan, abandons an opportunity to attain Great Luo rather than let him die, and ultimately blocks Huntian's fatal blade energy for him. 523 534 537
