Background

Cihang was originally a White Lotus born on Mount Luojia in the South Sea. When Hongjun attained the Dao, Cihang took human form beneath the Dao’s holy light, left Mount Luojia, and spent one hundred thousand years traveling to Kunlun in pursuit of the Dao 1.

In his original future, he entered both the Chan Sect and Buddhism, regained the Grand Unity Dao Fruit after ten thousand cycles of reincarnation, and became one of the West’s Three Saints and Four Great Bodhisattvas. Despite this standing, he was used to gather merit and was ultimately forced to sacrifice himself to stabilize Buddhism’s declining heavenly fortune 1.

He awakens at Jade Void Palace as a newly initiated Mysterious Immortal, retaining the memories and emotional scars of that future. Although he cannot determine whether this is genuine rebirth or a vision of the future, he treats the memories as real and rejects both Yuanshi’s path and Buddhism, vowing to forge an independent Dao 1 2 5.

Cihang later learns that he is the reincarnation of the Twelve-grade World-Purifying White Lotus, which once endured a tribulation for Yang Mei. Yang Mei leaves him a portion of his will in a willow branch, the inheritance of a Chaos Demon God, and the Life Demon God’s origin—gifts that become the foundation of Cihang’s Life and Primordial Chaos cultivation 14 15.

He is cautious even when receiving great opportunities. He accepts Yang Mei’s inheritance while remaining wary of the willow branch’s hidden purpose, prepares layers of defenses before cultivating in Chaos, and refuses to treat power or goodwill as proof of trust 5 120 268.

His compassion is selective but genuine.
