Background / History
Chaos and the Heaven-Opening
Pangu was born in Chaos with all three thousand laws and condensed them into the Great Dao of Strength, becoming the supreme existence among the Chaos Demon Gods. Even figures such as Yang Mei had to avoid his might. 269
Seeking to transcend the Great Dao, Pangu attempted to open the heavens. His plan required the Origins of countless Chaos Demon Gods, making his Heaven-Opening a threat to their survival rather than a purely altruistic act of creation. 548 The Great Dao allegedly manipulated events by inducing Pangu to begin early and leading other powerful Demon Gods to obstruct him. 570
Pangu came close to proving the Dao but failed when the resentment of slain Chaos Demon Gods became a curse. That resentment gave the previously impartial Will of Heaven and Earth a consciousness, creating the Heavenly Dao, whose final backlash forced Pangu to support heaven and earth with his body and transform his Dao into all things. 41
Contingencies for Revival
Pangu's transformation did not constitute complete death: all things in the Great Desolation retained a connection to him. He left behind multiple revival contingencies, including the Three Sovereigns—Cangli Shi, Yuejian Shi, and Jiutou Shi—to restrain the Heavenly Dao's authority. 41
The Three Pure Ones originated from Pangu's Primordial Spirit, while the Twelve Ancestor Witches inherited his essence blood and physical lineage. Both groups were ultimately components of his resurrection plan. 499 581 Pangu's True Spirit Consciousness was also concealed within the true spirits of all living beings in the Great Desolation. 582
Return and Full Revival
The Three Pure Ones first gathered their essences to manifest Pangu's Primordial Spirit against Luohu. Unlike the Witch Race's Pangu True Body—which was residual physical power—the being that emerged was Pangu's reborn consciousness. 498
After merging his True Body and Primordial Spirit, Pangu repelled Luohu effortlessly. His manifestation later dissipated, but a fragment of his True Spirit entered Cihang's sea of consciousness, intending to use Cihang's evolving Creation Green Lotus Origin for recovery. 499 500
Cihang resisted the True Spirit's attempts to develop his sea of consciousness into a miniature Great Desolation. Their conflict ultimately forced Pangu to negotiate rather than simply consume Cihang's Origin. 501 502 538
Pangu was fully resurrected when Cihang refined Pangu Hall back into Pangu's Heart, the Three Pure Ones gathered their Primordial Spirits, and the True Spirit Consciousness within all living beings returned to him. Cihang supplied primordial Chaos Qi to prevent Pangu's awakening from draining the Great Desolation's Origin. 582
Appearance
Pangu is consistently depicted as an immense, ancient, and majestic male figure whose presence inspires instinctive reverence. His aura is powerful enough to suppress Spiritual Treasures, halt Heavenly Punishment, and strain the Great Desolation itself. 499 500
- His true form is associated with an overwhelming creator-god aura that causes cultivators to bow involuntarily. 210 211
- During his revival, his restored body is formed around Pangu's Heart and primordial blood. 582
- His manifested figure can grow vast enough to fight the Great Dao across Chaos. 595
- His gaze is described as deep and unreadable toward Cihang, while later appearances show affection and tolerance toward the beings of the Great Desolation. 499 584
Personality
Pangu is fundamentally driven by the pursuit of the Great Dao. His original Heaven-Opening was undertaken to escape the Great Dao's restraints, even though it required the Origins of other Chaos Demon Gods. 548 He does not regard this as a moral failing; when challenged over competing for the Great Dao's Origin, he frames such conflict as the natural struggle for enlightenment. 598
His attitude toward lesser beings is initially domineering and utilitarian. He entered Cihang's sea of consciousness without consent and considered Cihang's assistance in restoring him to be a matter of course until Cihang developed enough power to threaten him. 538 Pangu also forcibly absorbed allies and Chaos Demon Gods during the battle with the Great Dao, then attempted to retain that power for himself. 595 597
Following his complete revival, Pangu shows a more protective disposition toward the Great Desolation and its inhabitants. He destroys the Heavenly Dao's consciousness, restores the Ancestor Witches' bodies and bloodlines, forgives the Three Pure Ones, and agrees to postpone his conflict with Shichen in favor of confronting the Great Dao. 584 585 586
Abilities & Skills
Way of World Creation
Pangu's principal Dao combines destruction and creation. His Heaven-Opening attacks can destroy worlds and laws while simultaneously generating vitality and new worlds. 501
- Created the Great Desolation through his original Heaven-Opening. 41
- Repeated the process unconsciously within Cihang's sea of consciousness, creating a growing miniature world. 501
- His Way of World Creation is especially effective against the Great Dao. 593 595
- His power within the Great Desolation draws upon the faith, laws, and collective strength of the world he created. 584
Sky-Opening Strike
Pangu's defining offensive technique is a world-cleaving axe strike capable of severing Dao and destroying Dharma. 595
- Can manifest through Pangu's True Body as an axe-shaped, sky-splitting attack. 301
- Reforged the Sky-Opening Axe from the Taiji Diagram, Pangu Banner, and Chaos Bell before fighting the Great Dao. 595
- The full Sky-Opening Strike severed the Great Dao's power and destroyed its Dharma body. 595
- Its greatest effectiveness depends on the Sky-Opening Axe; after the axe shattered, Pangu's ability to threaten the re-forming Great Dao was severely diminished. 596
True Spirit and Origin Assimilation
Pangu's True Spirit is distributed throughout the Great Desolation and can use its beings, bloodlines, and Origins as foundations for resurrection and empowerment. 582
- The Three Pure Ones' merged Primordial Spirits can condense Pangu's will. 499
- The Ancestor Witches can supply his physical power and bloodline through Pangu Hall. 507 582
- His True Spirit can parasitize a cultivator's sea of consciousness and draw upon its Creation Origin. 500 538
- He can merge numerous cultivators and Chaos Demon Gods into himself to amplify his combat power. 595 597
- This assimilation can provoke resistance from the absorbed beings, as Cihang's prepared formation enabled millions of trapped Gods and Demons to rebel against him. 597
Creator God's Authority
Pangu possesses exceptional authority over objects and forces derived from his legacy.
- The Taiji Diagram, Pangu Banner, and Chaos Bell react to manifestations of Pangu's True Body. 211
- Pangu Hall suppresses the Pangu Banner and Taiji Diagram through the Pangu will it contains. 288
- He froze Heavenly Punishment with a glance and caused the Eye of Heavenly Punishment to dim. 500
- He destroyed the consciousness of the Heavenly Dao with ease, leaving its impartial laws intact. 585

Relationships
- Cihang — Initially an unwilling host for Pangu's fragmented True Spirit; later a crucial collaborator in Pangu's full revival. Their relationship remains guarded, especially after Pangu attempts to use Cihang's Origin and later competes with him for the Great Dao's Origin. 500 538 584 597 598
- Three Pure Ones — Manifestations of Pangu's Primordial Spirit and key components of his revival. Pangu forgives their reluctance to sacrifice themselves but favors them far less than the Ancestor Witches. 499 581 585

- Hongjun — A Chaos Demon God who sought to control the Great Desolation after Pangu's fall. Pangu recognizes Hongjun's role in benefiting from his legacy but postpones further conflict. 289 585
- Great Dao — Pangu's ultimate adversary. The Great Dao schemed against Pangu's original attempt to prove the Dao, and Pangu later led the alliance that destroyed it. 570 595 596
Story Role / Major Arcs
Witch–Demon War Legacy
The Witch Race repeatedly manifests Pangu's True Body through the Twelve Heavens Array of All Fiends. Empowered by Buzhou Mountain, this manifestation overwhelms the Great Zhou Celestial Array and breaks it despite being only a remnant of Pangu's physical power. 211 The same power later battles Zhunti at Mount Sumeru without Buzhou Mountain's reinforcement. 215
Reappearance Through the Three Pure Ones
When Luohu threatens the Three Pure Ones, they merge their essences and summon Pangu's Primordial Spirit. Pangu returns as a true reborn consciousness, suppresses Luohu, and briefly reunites his body and spirit. 498 499
Pangu True Spirit Parasitism
After Pangu's temporary manifestation ends, his fragmented True Spirit enters Cihang's sea of consciousness. Pangu's Heaven-Opening Dao inadvertently strengthens Cihang, but his continued absorption of Cihang's Origin makes him Cihang's greatest hidden danger. 500 501 538
Destruction of the Heavenly Dao's Consciousness
Cihang, Houtu, the Three Pure Ones, and Pangu Hall restore Pangu's Heart, body, and True Spirit. Once awakened, Pangu destroys the Heavenly Dao's consciousness and ends its domination over the Great Desolation while preserving its impartial laws. 582 584 585
Great Dao Tribulation
Pangu remains absent while Cihang, Shichen, and Yang Mei delay the Great Dao's Incarnation, finally intervening when the alliance faces annihilation. 594 He gathers the power of the Great Desolation, Chaos Demon Gods, Cihang, Shichen, and Yang Mei to reach Great Dao-level combat power and sever the Great Dao with the Sky-Opening Strike. 595
Contest for the Great Dao's Origin
After the Great Dao falls, Pangu immediately seeks its Origin in order to become the next Great Dao. He fights Cihang, Shichen, and Yang Mei, using merged Gods and Demons and the Great Desolation's world Origin until the imprisoned Gods and Demons rebel against him. 597 The arrival of extraterrestrial threats forces all sides to use the Great Dao's Origin as a defensive barrier, ending the immediate contest. 597 598
