Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Elite Chunin | 8 | Reached this strength half a year before returning to the compound. Tajima then allowed him onto the battlefield, where he established a reputation against the Senju. |
| Peak Elite Chunin; Sharingan awakened | 12 13 | Killed an Akimichi Jonin despite suffering a broken arm. Awakened the Sharingan at ten—five years earlier than in the original timeline. |
| Approaching peak Jonin | 33 | At eleven and a half, his physical strength and chakra had reached Jonin level. His evolved Sharingan brought his overall strength close to peak Jonin. |
| Major chakra and physical breakthrough | 116 | Fear for his wounded father and endangered brother triggered an explosive surge that drove back their pursuers. No precise rank is given. |
| Mangekyō Sharingan | 119 120 | Awakened after Tajima’s body was returned to camp. |
| Susanoo manifestation | 121 | Manifested a blue Susanoo arm to stop Koji’s dangerous attack. Also demonstrated overwhelming taijutsu while using only his Three-Tomoe Sharingan. |
| Sage body cell integration | 159 | Yayoi transplanted Kyosuke’s cells. Lost ocular power began recovering, total ocular power slowly increased, and Madara gained greater freedom to use his soul-based abilities. |
| Fourth Form Susanoo | 162 | Used against the newly released Nine-Tails, then further transformed it with additional arms and swords. |
| First Nine-Tails jinchūriki; middle Super Kage | 163 | Acquiring the Nine-Tails brought his strength just into the middle Super Kage range. |
| Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan | 179 180 249 | Izuna bequeathed his eyes before dying, and Madara was preparing to obtain the Eternal Eye when Kyosuke revived Izuna. The Eternal Mangekyō is later explicitly confirmed; the completed transplant is not shown in the supplied passages. |
| Senjutsu-enhanced peak Super Kage | 248 | Returned from training at Ryūchi Cave. Combining the Nine-Tails, sage body, senjutsu chakra, and Susanoo let him contend with initial Six Paths-tier opponents. |
| Tomoe Rinnegan; middle Six Paths | 249 | Hagoromo’s pure yin power transformed his Eternal Mangekyō. Limbo increased from four shadows to eight, and his abilities allowed him to challenge a high-tier Six Paths opponent. |
| Ultimate Susanoo | 270 | Combined his Perfect Susanoo with those of eight Limbo copies. Overpowered Kinshiki and an enhanced Momoshiki, but the strain killed his already injured body. |
| Resurrected with Indra’s ocular power | 306 307 311 | Returned through Impure World Reincarnation after receiving Indra’s accumulated power in the Pure Land. His enhanced Limbo eventually produced twelve complete copies. |
| Baryon Mode; temporary Divine Fire-level power | 313 | Activated Kyosuke’s chakra-consuming transformation, overwhelmed Armand in a ten-minute taijutsu assault, and killed him. The borrowed power could not be sustained indefinitely. |
Background / History
Clan Heir and the Three Prodigies
Madara is Tajima’s eldest son and the intended successor to the Uchiha leadership. Although he disapproves of his father’s manipulation and factional politics, his early ambition is to unite the clan’s divided forces against the Senju. He befriends Kyosuke after recognizing a fellow prodigy who is similarly isolated from those around him 5.
During an attack on the weakened Uchiha compound, Madara kills an Akimichi Jonin and awakens his Sharingan. He and Izuna subsequently become known alongside Kyosuke as the Uchiha Three Prodigies. Their growing fame brings underground bounties and attempts to eliminate the clan’s promising younger generation 11 12 13.
The Dream of a Village
Madara’s friendship with Hashirama leads him to consider peace with the Senju. Kyosuke’s proposal—that inherited hatred could diminish if future generations grew up together—gives both boys a practical framework for their hopes. At the future Hokage Rock, Madara supports Hashirama’s vision of a village where clans coexist and children no longer fight 33 34 36.
Tajima rejects the idea and threatens Kyosuke’s life to force Madara’s obedience. Under his father’s pressure, Madara reluctantly attacks Hashirama during the river ambush. Even afterward, he continues to hope for a world that will protect Izuna and spare children from war 36 37 38.
Uzumaki Campaign
Madara commands the Uchiha Main Force on the western front. He and Kyosuke help break the Uzumaki lines, but repeated fighting and superior enemy numbers wear down Hiroki’s corps. Caught in a sealing trap with Izuna, Madara uses Garuda Flame to destroy the barrier and ambushers, badly burning himself in the process. Kyosuke arrives and escorts the brothers to safety 38 43 54 55.
Later, Madara joins Kyosuke and Yayoi in disrupting supply convoys and infiltrating Uzushiogakure. News of Hashirama’s Wood Release and battlefield success renews his determination to finish the campaign and move to the Uchiha–Senju main front 60 61.
Succession to Clan Leadership
After a failed assassination operation leaves Tajima missing, Madara returns to camp and secures Kyosuke’s promise of support. Elder Koji exploits the uncertainty to challenge his authority. Tajima’s body then arrives, and Madara’s grief awakens his Mangekyō Sharingan 119.
Madara settles the succession dispute through a public duel with Koji. He refuses to use his gunbai, dominates the elder in genjutsu and close combat, and intervenes when Koji endangers nearby clansmen with an S-rank fire attack. With Izuna’s help, he defeats Koji without killing him and becomes the undisputed clan leader 120 121.
Kyosuke helps stabilize the clan over the following three months. Madara offers him an elder position, accepts his advice on useful political alliances, and pledges support for his ambition to lead the future village 122 123.
The Nine-Tails and Izuna’s Return
As Hashirama and Kyosuke grow stronger, Madara becomes frustrated by his own limitations. Yayoi’s transplant of Kyosuke’s sage body cells begins repairing his depleted ocular power. Kyosuke then persuades him to pursue the Nine-Tails’ chakra and healing ability; Madara insists on fighting the beast before becoming its first jinchūriki 157 159 162 163.
During Kyosuke’s prolonged absence on the moon, Madara shoulders the clan’s political burdens and decides to attend Hashirama’s wedding rather than allow the Senju gathering to isolate the Uchiha. Later, Tobirama mortally wounds Izuna, who bequeaths his eyes to Madara and warns against an alliance with the Senju 170 179.
Izuna’s death nearly drives Madara to abandon his emotional attachments. Kyosuke instead resurrects him, restoring the person Madara considers most important in the world. The reunion takes place at the Moon Palace, where Madara also meets Kyosuke’s children 180.
Konoha and the Battle with Isshiki
Madara remains a major figure in Konoha’s leadership and personally welcomes the Hyuga alongside Hashirama. He also joins Kyosuke in secretly confronting Jigen, recognizing his responsibility to protect the village, his clan, and Izuna despite his enjoyment of dangerous combat 204 216 218 219.
When Isshiki attacks Konoha, Hagoromo grants Madara yin power and a Tomoe Rinnegan. Madara lands several Limbo-assisted blows but cannot defeat Isshiki alone; Hashirama arrives to reinforce him. The battle leaves lasting injuries that even his sage body cannot heal 249 264.
Madara subsequently withdraws underground, sustained by the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path. He continues to deter attacks on Konoha and prepares for his eventual resurrection. When Hashirama approaches death, Madara offers to revive him with Rinne Rebirth, but Hashirama refuses to exchange his friend’s life for his own 260 264.
Death, Resurrection, and Earth’s Defense
Against Kinshiki and Momoshiki, Madara unveils Ultimate Susanoo. He destroys Kinshiki’s lower body and defeats Momoshiki even after the latter consumes Kinshiki’s Chakra Fruit. His final spear thrust wounds Momoshiki and forces him to escape, but Madara dies immediately afterward. In the Pure Land, Indra offers him his power and urges him to guide the world 270.
Izuna later summons Madara through Impure World Reincarnation using a body prepared to contain his strength. Madara returns with greater ocular and spiritual power, asks Yayoi to arrange Hashirama’s resurrection, and prepares for another Ōtsutsuki invasion 306 307.
During the Enforcement Squad’s attack, Madara takes over the fight against Armand after Konoha’s other defenders are defeated. He activates Baryon Mode, kills Armand, and reunites with the resurrected Hashirama to confront Zhen’s colossal serpent form 311 313.
Appearance
- Spiky hair: Present from his first direct appearance; Kyosuke initially wears a similar Uchiha hairstyle 4 9.
- Rapidly developing physique: Becomes increasingly tall and imposing as a young battlefield fighter 8 33 93.
- Red armor: Wears red or dark red armor in major combat appearances, often carrying the Uchiha Gunbai on his back 42 248.
- Purple Tomoe Rinnegan: The light of his eyes remains visible in his dark underground refuge 264.
- Temporary bandaged eyes: Appears sightless with bandaged eyes during Izuna’s resurrection at the Moon Palace 180.
Personality
Madara is proud, blunt, and intensely competitive. He insists that his greatness comes from being Madara Uchiha rather than from inherited status, weapons, or special eyes. Powerful opponents excite him, and he repeatedly describes combat as a “dance” 43 93 120 219 313.
His confidence does not exclude restraint or responsibility. He spares Koji, protects spectators during their duel, and refuses an immediate invasion of the weakened Senju despite pressure from influential clansmen. He also recognizes enemy strength rather than dismissing it out of clan prejudice 121 153 186.
Madara’s guarded manner conceals strong attachments. He notices Kyosuke’s discomfort at a gathering, risks severe burns to protect Izuna, and grieves openly when his brother dies. His longing for peace centers on family safety and ending children’s participation in war 6 38 54 179.
Kyosuke’s teasing frequently disrupts his imposing image. Marriage and parenthood make him uncomfortable, and he becomes visibly flustered while looking after Yuto and Nagisa. Nevertheless, he later regards both children as people under his protection 157 180 258.
Abilities & Skills
Chakra and Close Combat
- Exceptional reserves: His enormous chakra supply underpins his physical strength and powerful ninjutsu; Kyosuke identifies Indra’s reincarnation as a major advantage 120 121.
- Swordsmanship: Deflects Kyosuke’s angled shuriken throws and kills an Akimichi Jonin in a direct fight before awakening his Sharingan 9 12.
- Taijutsu: Overwhelms Koji and Chō in close combat; later kills Armand through sustained hand-to-hand attacks in Baryon Mode 121 153 313.
- Battlefield tactics: Uses the Nine-Tails as a distraction while infiltrating Senju ranks and attacking their fighters personally 185.
Fire Release
| Technique | Applications and Limits |
|---|---|
| Majestic Destroyer Flame | Produces a fan-shaped sea of fire that impresses other Uchiha Fire Release specialists 73. |
| Dragon Flame Song Technique | Unleashes five fire dragons hot enough to vaporize enemies 54. |
| Garuda Flame | S-rank forbidden technique used to concentrate destructive power against a sealing barrier. Destroys the trap and ambushers but badly burns Madara 54. |
Sharingan and Genjutsu
- Genjutsu mastery: Defeats Koji in an illusion contest while deliberately passing up an opportunity to finish him 121.
- Nine-Tails control: Uses genjutsu to control the beast during the war against the Senju 185.
- Ocular deterioration: Years of Mangekyō use significantly damage his eyesight before the sage body cell transplant 159.
- Unconfirmed theories: Kyosuke’s early speculation about a passive ability or special aptitude for Infinite Tsukuyomi is not established as Madara’s actual Mangekyō power 121.
Soul Dojutsu
- Soul perception: Senses the distinctive presence of a Mangekyō wielder in Chō and perceives changes in Kyosuke’s spiritual power 153 157.
- Right-eye ability: Explicitly activates Soul Dojutsu through his right Mangekyō at the Fire Temple 159.
- Spirit Projection: Can separate his spirit from his body and still use ninjutsu, though with slightly reduced power 159.
- Soul-embedded ocular power: Can summon Susanoo without activating his Mangekyō because its power is engraved in his soul 159.
- Combat tracking: Uses soul perception to estimate Jigen’s movements when ordinary Sharingan observation is insufficient 218.
- Post-resurrection sensing: Scans Earth and the moon in under ten seconds to determine that Kyosuke is absent 307.
Limbo: Border Jail
- Shadow duplicates: Creates copies that shield his body, ambush opponents, and strike with enough force to incapacitate a tailed beast 249.
- Increasing numbers: Hagoromo’s yin power raises the number from four to eight; Indra’s accumulated power later increases it to twelve 249 311.
- Independent power: Limbo copies consume no chakra and function as complete duplicates rather than conventional clones 270 311.
- Position exchange: Switches places with a Limbo shadow to avoid Armand’s lethal attack 313.
- Limits: Isshiki forcibly destroys five of his eight shadows during their battle 249.
Susanoo and Ultimate Susanoo
- Partial manifestations: Uses individual limbs and defensive forms without always summoning a full construct 121 127.
- Fourth Form: Battles the Nine-Tails with a developed Susanoo and adds further arms and swords to counter its Tailed Beast Bomb 162.
- Ultimate Susanoo: Merges his own Perfect Susanoo with those of his Limbo copies; its debut combines nine near-equally powerful constructs 270.
- Destructive power: Overpowers Kinshiki, enhanced Momoshiki, and Momoshiki’s lava golem 270.
- Limits: Its debut fatally overtaxes his damaged body. After resurrection, Armand can progressively break through it 270 313.
Sage Body, Senjutsu, and Nine-Tails Chakra
- Cellular enhancement: Kyosuke’s transplanted cells restore depleted ocular power and gradually expand its total capacity 159.
- Senjutsu training: Returns from Ryūchi Cave with senjutsu incorporated into his fighting strength 248.
- Jinchūriki power: The Nine-Tails supplies a major increase in chakra and combat strength 162 163.
- Summoning: Summons and resummons the genjutsu-controlled Nine-Tails during battlefield operations 185.
- Limits: Neither his sage body nor later support prevents the lasting damage caused by fighting Isshiki 264.
Baryon Mode
- Origin: Developed by Kyosuke by combining Ten-Tails chakra with the user’s chakra 313.
- Combat enhancement: Lets Madara easily block Armand’s strongest attack and overwhelm him in taijutsu 313.
- Duration and cost: Consumes chakra; the resulting Divine Fire-level power is temporary 313.
Rinne Rebirth
- Proposed use: Prepares material to resurrect Hashirama 264.
- Cost: Would exchange Madara’s life for Hashirama’s. Hashirama refuses, so Madara does not perform it 264.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
