Background / History

After surviving the destruction of Namek, Goku reached Planet Yardrat aboard a nearby Ginyu Force spacecraft. He spent the intervening period learning the planet's unusual techniques, including Instant Transmission, before returning to Earth shortly after Trunks defeated Frieza and King Cold. 314 320 322

When Trunks privately disclosed the impending Android threat, Goku accepted his warning and the medicine intended to treat a future heart disease. He then joined the other Z Fighters in three years of preparation. 321 322

Goku confronted Android No. 19 despite feeling the onset of his illness. Although he transformed into a Super Saiyan and initially pressed the attack, No. 19 absorbed his Kamehameha and his worsening heart disease left him unable to fly, use Ki effectively, or sustain his transformation. Vegeta ultimately rescued him. 325 326 327

Naruto later cured Goku with a special Senzu Bean and helped him reassess his fighting methods. Goku trained in Afterimage Fist under Naruto's guidance, then entered the Hyperbolic Time Chamber with Gohan to seek power beyond Super Saiyan. 338 340 341 347
