Harry: I Need an Explanation!
Harry thought for a moment and decided to put the wand back in his pocket, since he still needed the Goblin to take him to the vault to retrieve something.
He truly hadn't expected that after not seeing the wand for so long, this Old Pal seemed to have acquired some additional functions.
Perhaps it's because it absorbed Runcorn's energy?
But then again, countless Goblin have indeed died under this magic wand.
Although Harry was once a kind person who was afraid of hurting ants even when sweeping the floor, he abandoned his inappropriate kindness after witnessing the Goblin massacre a village.
Despite Gringotts' repeated claims that Runcorn's actions had nothing to do with Gringotts ' Goblin, Harry still felt that Gringotts ' Goblin were no good either.
When Harry put his wand away, the Goblin finally fled from their fear.
"My God, what is this...?" The Griphook swallowed hard.
"Don't ask questions you shouldn't ask," Harry said calmly. "Now that I've presented the token, shouldn't you take me to the vault?"
"Yes, Mr. Potter, this way please," said the Griphook respectfully.
He led Harry along, one hand behind his back gesturing to the other Goblin.
Harry noticed his little movements, but he didn't pay much attention to them.
Before arriving at Gringotts, he had prepared a Portkey in his bag, which, once activated, would quickly take him back outside the Leaky Cauldron.
Harry followed the Griphook to a narrow stone corridor, the passageway illuminated by burning torches.
The stone corridor is a steep downhill slope with a narrow railway winding its way forward on the ground.
The Griphook blew a whistle, and a moment later, a small cart rushed toward them along the railway track.
"Come on in, Mr. Potter," said the Griphook, turning around before taking the first seat.
Harry went up and sat down, casually placing a miniature Shield Charm —just enough to shield his face from the wind, but not enough to cover the Griphook.
Along the way, we also passed an Underground Lake, covered with huge stalactites and stalagmites, some of which even hung down to the ground.
Finally, the cart stopped in front of a small door. The cart seemed to be under some kind of magic, as it always managed to stop steadily in front of the vault it wanted to go to.
"We've arrived, Mr. Potter," Griphook as he jumped out of the car, speaking respectfully.
Harry got out of the car and looked up at Vault 313.
To be honest, just looking at the door, it's much more impressive than the door to the Potter Family's vault.
"A total of 2,763,215 Galleon." Griphook said calmly, holding a piece of paper. "In addition, there are some antiques and treasures, all from the Austro-Hungarian Empire royal family's collection a hundred years ago—let me see, it says... there are also some precious alchemical materials, and even rare things like Angel Feather. I really don't know who the lady of the vault is."
backing?
Harry thought for a moment, and it seemed that Veratia had an aunt nicknamed "Cici" who was married to a man named Joseph, who was said to have some power in the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
But... two million Galleon?!
Is this what Veratia meant by "a little bit of money"?
He was still marveling to himself, but his expression remained unchanged as he said to the Griphook, "Open the door."
Griphook, he stepped forward and touched something on the door. The lock was then opened, and a thick plume of green smoke billowed out from inside.
After the smoke cleared, Harry peered inside...
After a while.
Harry blankly pulled his gaze away from the empty space...
This... this isn't right, is it?
Where is the money you mentioned?
He searched carefully in the vault and finally found a poor Knut in a corner.
There was also a silver-white Princess crown hanging at the very back of the vault.
"This is the two million Galleon you were talking about?!" Harry pointed at the empty vault, his blood pressure soaring.
No, are you fucking kidding me?
Galleon are fine, they're gone, so be it.
Antiques and rare artifacts don't matter to Harry; he doesn't care about that either.
But where the hell is my Angel Feather?!
Veratia is here, but what about all those Angel Feather?
Harry never believed Veratia would lie to him, especially since the list detailed everything inside.
Hearing Harry's words, Griphook turned around.
He took a deep breath and his face showed a look of horror.
"Mr. Potter, this is a major incident. I need to... I need to notify the higher-ups at Gringotts..."
Harry didn't say anything, just stared at him coldly, took out the Ageing Potion from his pocket and took a sip.
"Now please come back with me. I think..." Griphook swallowed hard. "I think the higher-ups at Gringotts will give you a reasonable explanation."
"You'd better be!" Harry said, getting back into the car.
Retracing his steps, Harry returned to Gringotts ' main hall.
As soon as he entered the hall, he was stopped by two Goblin in suits.
"Mr. Potter, the Chairman invites you," the two Goblin said respectfully.
Harry looked down at them and pointed to the ground.
"Send him to see me here."
"This..." The two Goblin exchanged a glance, both showing a troubled expression.
"My vault has been burgled, and all the treasure is gone!" Harry scoffed. "I demand an explanation from Gringotts! Was it the Goblin ' negligence, or did they steal from me?"
Upon hearing Harry's words, the once quiet Gringotts Hall instantly erupted into a frenzy, like a pot of boiling oil.
As is well known, Gringotts has been known for its security since its inception.
Or rather, this is the foundation upon which they stand in the Wizarding World.
Suddenly, someone openly claimed in the lobby of Gringotts Bank that the treasure in his vault had vanished.
Even the Goblin who accompanied him to retrieve the treasure lowered their heads and tacitly acknowledged this...
It's easy to imagine the magnitude of the impact on Gringotts ' employees and the wizards who came to deposit and retrieve their treasure.
The Goblin stared at Harry and whispered among themselves.
The wizards who came here to conduct their business were also filled with doubt and suspicion, glancing at Harry one moment and then at Griphook the next.
They were very eager to know what was going on.
The two Goblin in suits sighed, turned around, and left Gringotts ' main hall.
"Mr. Griphook, I think I need a reasonable explanation," Harry said calmly. "Or rather, if you can't give me a satisfactory explanation, then I'll have to call an old friend to talk to you."
"No, no, no, Mr. Potter," Griphook forced a smile. "Please come with me to the VIP lounge. We promise you a reasonable explanation regarding what happened in Vault 313!"
"Hmph." Harry snorted and followed the Griphook into the VIP lounge.
A moment later, two Goblin waiters came in, trembling, carrying red tea and desserts.
They served Harry attentively, but their expressions were unusually serious, and upon closer inspection, they even carried a hint of fear.
"What's with those faces?" Harry glanced at the two Goblin. "I remember the standard for the service industry is to smile. Why aren't you smiling? Don't you like to smile?"
The two Goblin servants muttered to themselves, "Gringotts doesn't have this kind of rule..."
But faced with this wand wielder whose hand was stained with the blood of countless Goblin, they still resolutely chose to follow their hearts and forced out a reluctant smile.
A short while later, there was a knock on the door, and after Harry gave his permission, the two Goblin in suits walked in one after the other.
Then, a cross-eyed Goblin walked into the room.
"Mr. Potter," the cross-eyed Goblin bowed to Harry, "We've finally met."
Harry gave him a polite nod and asked, "Do we know each other?"
"I'm sorry, Mr. Potter, although we don't know each other, I grew up hearing your name."
Bodric shuddered as he said this.
"Let me introduce myself. I am 'Cross-Eyed' Bodric, the president of the Goblin Brotherhood."
"You're not from Gringotts?" Harry asked, looking displeased.
He had assumed the visitor was Goblin from Gringotts, which was why he hadn't refused to see him earlier.
But right now I'm having a huge fight with Gringotts, what are you doing here getting involved?!
Seeing the displeasure on Harry's face, Bodric felt a chill run down his spine.
He quickly smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry, Mr. Potter, I know you have important matters to attend to, but I still want to bother you a little..."
After all, you can't hit someone who's all smiles. If Bodric had been arrogant from the start, Harry would have pulled out his wand long ago.
But Harry has always been someone who responds better to gentle persuasion than force. Since Bodric has adopted such a humble attitude, he can't very well use some Harmless Minor Curses to talk to him.
"I'm pressed for time, so speak quickly." Harry tapped his fingers on the table.
"Well, Mr. Potter," Bodric said, trying to control his words, "We... well, we've all heard of your illustrious reputation back in the day. Now that you've returned to the Magical World you've always been loyal to, we Goblin would like to... clear up any misunderstandings we may have with you."
"Indeed, the misunderstanding should be cleared up," Harry casually wiped his nails. "We had a few minor disagreements with you Goblin, and we exchanged some opinions frankly and openly—though that wasn't my intention. But if any more of you Goblin were to covet Ancient Magic and indiscriminately kill innocent people..."
At this point, Harry said meaningfully, "I'll be keeping an eye on you."
Upon hearing Harry's words, a sharp explosion shot through Bodric's mind.
A minor unpleasantness?
And they even exchanged opinions fully and frankly?!
You call that a minor unpleasantness?
Good heavens! The thousands of Goblin who followed Runcorn back then were all wiped out by you!
Bodric still remembered how his elders described it—those students who would throw green spells at each other, and a young boy and girl who knew Ancient Magic ...
Countless Goblin have died under your wand alone—otherwise, why would it issue such a terrifying threat to Goblin?!
but...
Bodric was quite satisfied with Mr. Potter's reply.
As long as he doesn't intend to escalate the problem to involve all Goblin, that's fine...
"Thank you for your leniency, Mr. Potter." Bodric quickly patted his chest in thanks. "Your leniency is enough to light up the entire Magical World."
"Let's put that aside for now. I have more important things to discuss with you Goblin."
Harry spoke softly, but his words carried immense weight in the ears of the Goblin.
Is there something more important to discuss?!
Suppressing the Goblin Rebellion was just a minor unpleasantness; Bodric really couldn't imagine how serious the "more important matter" would become.
"Please speak freely, Mr. Potter," Bodric said respectfully. "We, the Goblin Brotherhood some influence in Gringotts and will certainly give you a satisfactory answer."
Harry nodded and called over the Griphook beside him.
"A hundred years ago, my friend deposited a fortune in Gringotts, but when I went to collect it today, the fortune had vanished."
Harry gave Griphook a look, Griphook forward and handed the list to Bodric.
"I need an explanation now: where did my treasure go?"
Bodric took the list, and a mask of pain immediately appeared on his face.
This... this can't be described as just a fortune!
Even for Gringotts, two million Galleon is an Astronomy sum, not to mention the many precious alchemical materials and antique artifacts contained within...
He dared not even think about what would happen next if Gringotts couldn't give a suitable answer.
"Rest assured, Mr. Potter!" Bodric immediately replied, "I will definitely urge Gringotts to give you a satisfactory answer!"
Harry nodded, quite satisfied with Bodric's attitude.
Just then, the head of Gringotts rushed into the room and ran up to Harry, clearly making a sudden stop.
"Mr. Potter, Mr. Bodric." He blinked his small eyes. "Regarding your matter, Mr. Potter, I've already heard a recap from the relevant personnel. I'll now urge the teller to verify this matter and will definitely give you a satisfactory answer!"
"Then I'll wait," Harry nodded, speaking very reasonably.
The person in charge breathed a sigh of relief when Harry did not cause a Gringotts.
Harry simply had no idea what these Goblin were thinking, otherwise he would have scoffed at them.
Having lived under Headmaster Black's tutelage for over five years, even a stone would have developed a bit of a smell from it.
This is a society governed by the rule of law, and Harry will try his best to maintain a respectable image no matter what.
Soon, Gringotts tellers filed in, each carrying a thick stack of documents.
They sat down a short distance from Harry and began to carefully examine the documents.
Harry didn't urge them; he simply sipped his tea leisurely and calmly, waiting for the final result.
Sure enough, he didn't have to wait long.
Half an hour later, a Goblin stood up, waving a stack of papers in her hand.
"Here! I found it!"
