Harry, Voldemort Has Always Taken You as His Role Model
Harry understood perfectly well what Dumbledore meant.
Voldemort is a master of curses, so he can definitely break curses too.
As the old saying goes, there is always an antidote within seven steps of poison, and those who can use Dark Magic Curse curses can certainly lift them.
Harry thought for a moment about the level of affection he had for Voldemort.
Then he realized a problem.
Every time they met, he would hurl insults at Voldemort and his mother, and he even personally deflected Voldemort's Avada Kedavra, turning him into a grotesque, inhuman creature—not to mention, he also thwarted two of Voldemort's plots.
If possible, Harry felt Voldemort would rather capture him and cook him into soup than lift any Dark Magic Curse from him.
"You don't actually think Tom will help me, do you?" Harry had a look on his face that said, "Are you kidding me?"
"Anything is possible," Dumbledore said with a smile. "But we should hurry and head to Gaunt Old House."
He took Harry and Apparition them to a road sign.
Harry looked up at the two directions indicated by the road signs.
A road sign on one side reads: Great Hangleton, five miles.
The road sign pointing to the other side reads: Little Hangleton, one mile.
"Gaunt Old House is in Great Hangleton," Dumbledore said to Harry. "Oh, I forgot, you're quite close to Gaunt, so you should know roughly where the Gaunt family is."
"No, I've never heard him say that," Harry replied. "Ominis, though born into the Gaunt family, hated the atmosphere Gaunt family ... I remember him saying that when he was a child, his family forced him to use the Cruciatus Curse on Muggle children..."
"Indeed, they were an extreme family. No wonder they declined like this." Dumbledore seemed to be sighing, or perhaps lamenting.
They followed the wooden sign pointing towards Great Hangleton for a short distance, continuing forward.
Fortunately, the weather has been nice lately, and the ground isn't muddy, so my clothes and shoes won't get dirty.
"Why don't Apparition and take me there, Professor?" Harry asked curiously.
"Gaunt Old House has Anti-Apparition Charm, Harry," Dumbledore said softly. "Fawkes seems to have left with Grindelwald, and I can't bypass the Anti-Apparition Charm to get to Gaunt Old House."
Okay, Harry accepted that reason.
Dumbledore led Harry into a narrow dirt path, flanked by taller and wider hedges than before.
The path was winding, rocky, and rugged, with downward slopes like the one just now, seemingly leading to a dark forest below.
Sure enough, the path disappeared at the edge of the woods.
They walked a few steps forward and came to the front of a courtyard wall.
The walls were covered in moss, and many of the roof tiles had fallen off, exposing the rafters here and there. Thick nettles grew around the house, reaching all the way to the windows, which were very small and filled with thick layers of old grime.
A dead snake was nailed to the door, but the snake had been eroded by time and was now just a skeleton, somewhat incomplete, twisted and coiled on the door frame.
"This is Gaunt Old House," Dumbledore. "You wouldn't believe it, would you? The once sacred Sacred Twenty-Eight are now overgrown with weeds."
He stretched out his wand and shoved a Giant Spider above the door frame aside.
The Giant Spider scurried away without even considering retaliating against the rude stranger.
"Ron will definitely not like this place," Harry commented.
Dumbledore glanced back at Harry, not understanding why the other had suddenly said that.
"Ron is terrified of spiders," Harry said succinctly.
"Being afraid of spiders is nothing to be ashamed of," Dumbledore said with a smile. "When I was little, I also disliked insects, especially the kind with many legs... like centipedes."
After saying that, he pushed open the door and walked into the Gaunt Old House.
The Gaunt Old House had been abandoned for a long time, with weeds growing everywhere inside and thick moss covering the walls.
As soon as Harry entered, he was hit by a strong, musty smell. It was an indescribable smell, but it was definitely overpowering.
"It looks like no one has lived here for a long time," Harry said to Dumbledore.
"Morfin Gaunt, the last heir of the Gaunt family." Dumbledore's eyes gleamed. "He was imprisoned in 1943 for murdering a family of Muggle and is now in Azkaban."
"Is that so?" Harry laughed gleefully. "Looks like he's a traditional Gaunt —you know what I mean, Dumbledore, the kind of cruel, cold-blooded Gaunt."
"Aren't you interested in who he attacked?" Dumbledore asked.
"It's not the Riddle family, is it? That innocent Muggle young master who got seduced by that disgusting woman Merope?" Harry asked.
Dumbledore sighed. "Yes, it's that family—the people living around here told me when I last came to Little Hangleton."
"However," he added, "The last time I came to Little Hangleton, I didn't go into the Gaunt Old House... but now it seems that it doesn't matter whether I come or not. I think we should go to Azkaban and find out the truth."
"For example?" Harry asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I don't think Morfin Gaunt is necessarily the real killer of the Riddle family," Dumbledore said. "Even if he were insane, he wouldn't be..."
"It's hard to say, Professor," Harry said. "You know the rules of the Gaunt family. Logically, Merope should be Morfin's wife... They value pure bloodlines above all else... Ugh..."
At this point, Harry couldn't help but gag.
This was partly due to the Gaunt family's barbaric and backward customs, and partly because the musty smell in the house was just too damn strong.
"We should look for the portrait."
Dumbledore seemed unwilling to continue the conversation, so he took out his wand and used a Lumos.
The two of them continued walking until they reached a small door that seemed to be sealed off.
"Perhaps this is it, Harry." Dumbledore tapped the door with his wand, and the door creaked open.
However, he was wrong; it was just a storage room.
"Not here." After searching for a while, the two of them stuffed all the moldy, green debris back in. "Let's keep looking inside."
Further inside, there was a large hall that resembled a main hall.
The two of them went inside, and before they could even see what was inside, they heard a furious roar.
"Who is it!"
Harry looked in the direction of the sound and shoved his wand into the face of the portrait.
The portrait depicted a strangely shaped, disproportionate figure: broad shoulders, long arms, bright brown eyes, short, stiff hair, and a wrinkled face, making him look like a fierce old monkey.
"You ill-mannered little bastard!" the old monkey roared. "Take your wand away!"
Harry looked down at the picture frame and saw "Marvolo Gaunt" written on the wall.
"Marvolo Gaunt?" Harry ignored his rudeness; he knew the Gaunt family were mentally unstable. "Where's Ominis? Is he hanging in this house?"
Marvolo was about to curse when he heard a familiar name. He asked warily, "Ominis? Who are you? How do you know my brother?"
Dumbledore stood to the side with his arms crossed, ready to listen to their conversation.
"Harry Potter," Harry replied casually.
This work was compiled and uploaded by [author's name].
Upon hearing the name, Marvolo's previously half-closed eyes widened instantly, and he stammered, "Hahaha, Harry Potter? Harry Potter who suppressed the Goblin Rebellion and wiped out the Ashwinder Party?"
"Yes, Ominis is my friend. He left me a letter and told me to come here to find his portrait—so, where is his portrait?" Harry asked.
"His portrait was taken away," Marvolo replied. "It was that Mudblood! That bastard! That bastard!"
"Merope's son?" Dumbledore suddenly asked. "Tom?"
"Yes! Don't mention that name to me!" Marvolo shouted angrily, "It's a disgrace!"
"Which one are you talking about? Merope or Tom?" Harry asked, raising an eyebrow.
"All of them!" Marvolo's anger hadn't subsided. "I really never expected that my daughter—even though she's a Squib —would actually drug a Muggle. She's completely disgraced the Gaunt family!"
"As it turns out, even if she went home and married Morfin, things wouldn't have been much better," Harry said with a shrug. "If I have time, I'll have another portrait bring you a copy of Biology."
After saying that, Harry continued, "Alright, there's one more question—where did Tom take Ominis, and why did he take him? Do you know?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't know," Marvolo said regretfully. "You know, Mr. Potter, my Ominis is the most outstanding young man of my generation in the Gaunt family... In addition, he is your comrade-in-arms and that bastard's grandfather, so that bastard took him away."
"Don't tell me he lacked a father's love?" Harry raised an eyebrow. "I know he was born of a mother but raised without a father, but that doesn't mean he would take Ominis's portrait, does it?"
"I don't know the reason either, anyway..." Marvolo said, looking at Harry with some difficulty, "I only know that the bastard back then was like a madman trying to follow in your footsteps Mr. Potter... He always took you as his role model."
Harry:...?!
No, buddy?
Dumbledore quickly unwrapped the candy in his hand and stuffed several pieces into his mouth before calming down from his speechless state.
As Voldemort's professor, Dumbledore certainly knew that Voldemort had always been pursuing great power and the power of immortality.
But he never expected that Voldemort's lifelong idol would be... Harry Potter?
Before knowing Harry's true identity, Dumbledore thought it was normal... but after learning that the two Harry were the same person, Dumbledore found Voldemort's behavior extremely ridiculous.
Voldemort's worshipped person, nemesis, and enemy are all the same person...
"What's wrong?" Marvolo asked cautiously, seeing Harry's complicated expression.
Harry sighed helplessly.
"I don't know what to say..."
What else can be said?
"Do you have any other clues, Marvolo?" Harry asked again. "Like, where might Tom have hidden the portrait of Ominis?"
"I don't know either, Mr. Potter," Marvolo said helplessly. "Ominis only has one portrait at home, so he usually stays in that one portrait... However, he can come into my portrait, but he has a deep prejudice against me, so he would rather stay somewhere unknown than come back to the Gaunt Old House to visit me."
"Then why don't you go find him?" Harry asked, raising an eyebrow.
"If I could, I would have gone there just now," Marvolo said, "But I don't know where his portrait is, so I can't, I'm sorry, Mr. Potter."
"Okay," Harry nodded.
After exchanging a few more words with Marvolo, Harry and Dumbledore left Gaunt Old House.
"Where do you think the portrait of Ominis is hidden, Harry?" Dumbledore suddenly asked.
Harry gave Dumbledore a complicated look and said, "I think the one among us who knows Tom best is you, Professor, not me, a freshman who just graduated from second year."
"But you're not young, Harry," Dumbledore a smile.
Harry glanced at him again.
"Then why aren't you calling me 'senior'?"
"Yes, senior," Dumbledore said cheerfully, "I've wanted to call you that for a while now—"
"I can tell," Harry said, then turned to Dumbledore and asked, "So where should we go next?"
"Perhaps you should go to the Chamber of Secrets again," Dumbledore said. "The Basilisk is kept there, isn't it? And perhaps the portrait of Ominis is also kept there."
Harry considered it briefly in his mind and then thought it was unlikely.
"Impossible," he said. "Basilisk the Alfonso doesn't know Ominis, which means Ominis's portrait can't possibly be in Chamber of Secrets ... I think we should perhaps go to Azkaban and visit Tom's uncle; maybe he knows something?"
"You mean, go find Morfin Gaunt?"
Dumbledore clearly tempted. He thought for a moment and said, "Okay, but before we go to Azkaban, I think we should be prepared. After all, the Dementor there are still very dangerous—have you learned the Patronus Charm?"
