My Battle Fortress... had been taken!
That was probably the first thought that flashed through Root of Mars's mind when they faced the charging Annihilation Cannon.
Not long ago, Root of Mars had indeed sensed that the machine spirit left within the Battle Fortress had gone wrong and completely severed its connection with them. Root of Mars had originally thought the Battle Fortress had fully disintegrated in space, taking the backdoor they had left behind with it—though Root of Mars did not realize it fell within the realm of machine spirits.
But Root of Mars had never imagined that the ship had not only remained intact, but had already fallen into someone else's hands.
Despite losing Root of Mars as its core energy source, someone had actually managed to recharge it, halt the ship's self-destruct sequence, and possess enough Psychic Power to control something of such enormous scale...

Freed from the fixed ship-core state and restored to freedom, Root of Mars's Agility had risen from 0 to 40. Their immense Psychic Power also allowed them to achieve telekinetic flight. For a body of such massive size, 40 points of Agility was temporarily enough—enough, at least, for some less intense Ace Combat.
But if Root of Mars wanted to rely on pure telekinetic flight speed to compete with a Battle Fortress capable of freely traveling between Earth and space, that would truly be asking too much of a mushroom.
At that thought, the enormous brain matter exposed to the air began giving off intense psychic fluctuations. The four metal pipes still partially embedded around
