This was not a battlefield. This was hell!
The First Fleet Sefrans Tann had sent out earlier had indeed achieved its objective. They had encountered the Galactic Empire's Northern Fleet, led by Thrawn, and engaged them in fierce battle.
But judging from the current state of the battlefield, they had plunged headfirst into Thrawn's carefully arranged trap without any preparation whatsoever!
The Galactic Empire's entire Northern Fleet was here: 300 capital ships and over 2,000 small and medium warships. On the Milky Way Galaxy's current battlefields, where fleets of over a thousand capital ships were commonplace, this force could no longer be considered particularly powerful. But on the Northern Territory battlefield, where both sides had suffered heavy losses, it was still an extremely formidable force.
And trapped within layer upon layer of encirclement was the First Fleet, with barely one-sixth the strength of the Imperial fleet!
They had only 50 capital ships and 200 Light Cruisers. Surrounded like this, they had fought desperately for a full four hours! Had their formation not included five Oracle-class battleships, by the time the Emissary Titan warship arrived, it would likely have found nothing but debris filling the sky.
Even so, the First Fleet had suffered catastrophic losses and was practically wiped from the rolls!
The five Oracle-class battleships had been singled out for concentrated attack by Thrawn's Executor-class Super Star Destroyer. Against the Galactic Empire's mainstay, the Imperial-class Star Destroyer, Oracle-class battleships held an almost crushing advantage. An Imperial-class Star Destroyer simply could not last long against an Oracle-class battleship, while the Imperial-class Star Destroyers' Turbolasers were utterly helpless against the Oracle-class battleships' Voltage Armor Coating.
However, once the Executor-class Super Star Destroyer appeared before the Oracle-class battleships, the situation became entirely different.
