After drinking a mouthful of Spirit Spring Water, Lin Le immediately felt a bone-piercing coolness radiating from within his body.
With the water, Lin Le swallowed the fine medicinal herbs he had gathered, mouthful by mouthful.
The Dao Guide circulated, swiftly refining the spiritual energy released by digestion and transforming it into streams of incomparably pure True Qi, stored within the secret realm.
At times like this, Lin Le rather envied Qingli's huge mouth. With one gulp, hundreds of pounds of medicinal herbs were gone. He, on the other hand, had to eat them bite by bite.
As though it sensed what Lin Le was thinking, the Hun Tian Ling roaming within his body suddenly emerged and transformed into a ribbon seven zhang long, wrapping up all the medicinal herbs.
Blood flames surged to the heavens, refining the herbs into a pool of medicinal liquid within a few breaths before gathering it up and delivering it to Lin Le's mouth.
Lin Le looked at the medicinal liquid, then at the Hun Tian Ling, which seemed almost fawning, and tipped back his head to drink it.
"Your bonded artifact is quite amusing." Qingli leaned over and looked at the Hun Tian Ling. "This is the first time I've seen an artifact with such abundant spirituality."
"Maybe it's because it was transformed from my blood and qi." Lin Le beckoned, and the Hun Tian Ling burrowed back into his body.
"Is that so? Why do I remember that Yellow Court ones are generally more lively, while Spiritual Platform ones are more sluggish?" Qingli asked doubtfully.
The golden ring on Lin Le's wrist suddenly hummed. You're the stupid one. Your whole family is stupid!
Lin Le stared at the golden ring on his wrist and fell silent. So it was the Spiritual Platform one. He had always thought the Hun Tian Ling was the Spiritual Platform one.
Back then, because he could not control the spiritual lights, Lin Le had no idea which of the three lights was which, nor where each had gone after shooting into his body.
Then are you the Yellow Court one?
Lin Le tried sending this thought to the Hun Tian Ling.
But the Hun Tian Ling suddenly swam to the Numinous Palace, indicating that it had come from there.
The Heavenly Gate?
Lin Le glanced at the Yin Yang Fish within the inner landscape. Then you're the Yellow Court one?
The Yin Yang Fish leaped from the water, affirming it.
Lin Le was speechless. The three of them had really each found their own place.
Ignoring the three little troublemakers, Lin Le continued refining resources. It had to be said, this place was far wealthier than Steward Lu and Gentry Cai.
It took Lin Le three days to finish digesting all the resources here.
Yet his cultivation progress had only risen from ten percent to thirty percent. Still, that was merely the progress of building the tower, because Lin Le had put most of his True Qi into nourishing his body.
At this point, his physical strength had reached twenty-two thousand two hundred jin, nearly double what it had been when he first entered the realm!
But this was also his limit. Lin Le could feel a shackle locking down his body. If he forcibly broke through it, his fleshly body seemed at risk of collapsing.
Lin Le summoned the Hun Tian Ling. Several tiny patterns had appeared on its silk-smooth surface. As Lin Le's body strengthened, it too, being blood and qi by nature, had become a low-grade artifact.
Using the Inner Vision Divine Ability to inspect his inner landscape, Lin Le looked at the lotus and lotus root:
Current Human Dao merit: 198 points. Earthly Dao merit: 5 points. Killing karma: 185 points.
Spending one hundred points of Human Dao merit, Lin Le used One Thought, Three Years to perfect the Thirteen Revolutions of Fighting Heaven.
When he came back to himself and picked up the Tiger Bone Spear, Lin Le felt as though he were holding an ordinary toothpick.
I need to reforge it. Otherwise, it might snap with the slightest carelessness.
Lin Le walked out of the mountain cave where he had hidden for the past three days.
After so many people had been killed, the townsfolk were not fools. They would certainly investigate all outsiders who had arrived in recent days. Naturally, Lin Le would not remain in town waiting for them to find him.
Thirteen Revolutions of Fighting Heaven: Star Point!
His spear thrust down like a hawk diving on its prey, pursuing the vital point that would kill.
Thirteen Revolutions of Fighting Heaven: Leakless!
The spear moved in a circle, impenetrable and seamless, like rain lashing banana leaves—yet not a single drop leaked through.
Lin Le repeatedly performed the first through fourth forms, seeking that sliver of opportunity, but he could never find it.
Combining one force with another is even harder than I imagined. Lin Le stopped his spear, thinking with slight regret.
That opportunity was far more elusive than he had imagined. During One Thought, Three Years, he had worked out the third and fourth forms in three months. Yet the fifth form had consumed more than two years with little progress, leaving him only the faintest hint of a beginning.
Fortunately, his understanding of force had deepened further, so it had not been in vain.
I hope that town chief is a little stronger.
Lin Le licked his teeth, eagerness stirring in his heart.
According to the scraps of information he had picked up at the tavern, that town chief was a Third Layer Spiritual Platform cultivator.
And according to the information Qingli had given him, if one was merely an ordinary Spiritual Platform cultivator, a Third Layer cultivator's physical strength was only around twenty thousand jin.
However, Third Layer cultivators had already begun refining two types of Five Elements Qi. As the Five Elements generated one another, the power of their methods would rise to another level.
But Lin Le had comprehended force, so the power of his methods was no weak thing either. Back then, he had easily shattered Steward Lu's move with a single strike.
Heading down the mountain, Lin Le made straight for the town chief's residence.
Meanwhile, Town Chief Yan, who was eating, found his eyelids twitching wildly. He kept feeling as though something bad was about to happen.
Have those bandits set their sights on me?
This thought suddenly sprang into Town Chief Yan's mind. In his view, whoever had wiped out Gentry Cai, Steward Lu, and the Xiang Family's Medicine Manor had to be a gang of bandits. Otherwise, how could they have stripped the places so clean?
When he had gone to handle the aftermath for those three households, apart from fixed houses and large items difficult to deal with, his total gains had not even reached one hundred taels—and all of it had been scattered copper coins.
With his family present, Town Chief Yan could not appear too panicked. He set down his bowl and chopsticks, called over a maid waiting nearby, and gave her a few quiet instructions.
The maid nodded and immediately left.
The other Yan family members paid it no mind, assuming Town Chief Yan had merely sent the maid to handle some trivial matter.
After leaving the room, the maid immediately found a man and whispered, "Captain Wei, Master has ordered you to send someone to invite those Xiang Family members over. He says he wants to treat them to a simple dinner tonight."
The Xiang Family's Medicine Manor had been destroyed, so the Xiang Family naturally had to send people over to investigate. Town Chief Yan knew his own martial strength was insufficient, so he set his sights on the Xiang Family members.
"Invite the Xiang Family members?" Captain Wei frowned in confusion. They had already been invited once when they arrived, so why invite them again?
But this was Town Chief Yan's decision. He was merely a guard responsible for watching the household, clearly unqualified to voice objections.
"Understood." Captain Wei nodded and turned to take care of it.
Just as several guards left the Yan residence, they brushed past a man carrying a long spear on the road.
"Yan Household." Lin Le glanced at the plaque above the gate and walked straight inside.
Seeing this, the two gate guards crossed their spears and blocked Lin Le. One of them shouted, "Stop! The Yan Household is under lockdown. Visitors must state their purpose!"
"To wipe out your entire household," Lin Le said softly.
"What?" One guard thought he had misheard. Just as he was about to shout, "Say that again," he saw Lin Le exhale.
The swords shot forth like long arrows, instantly piercing through both guards' heads.
A strip of red silk wrapped around Lin Le's shoulders, then each end coiled around the hilts of the Yin-Yang Twin Swords.
With two ringing clangs, the twin swords embedded in the stone wall were pulled free and danced with the red silk.
Bang! With one kick, Lin Le blasted open the gates and began killing everyone he saw.
"Where did this fiend come from, daring to run wild in the Yan Household?" Captain Wei, rushing over, roared in fury at the sight.
Lin Le glanced at him and flicked a finger. The golden ring on his wrist immediately shot out.
Captain Wei swung his broadsword and slashed through the air. True Qi surged like a ferocious tiger, crashing straight into the golden light.
He looked to be a First Layer cultivator.
But the gap between one First Layer cultivator and another could sometimes be as vast as the difference in build between a small mountain and a great mountain.
Bang! Bang!
One impact destroyed the ferocious tiger; the other shattered the Six Yang Crown.
A headless corpse crumpled limply to the ground.
Lin Le withdrew his gaze and looked toward the approaching Town Chief Yan.
