Yichen advanced from an early Academy entrant to a capable young ninja by developing unusual Chakra control, sealing skills, and practical techniques. After helping save the Five-Tails’ Jinchuriki, he focused on survival and prepared for missions while seeking stronger abilities.

• Yichen passed the Ninja Academy’s early assessment and entered the Advanced Class, where he began intensive training and formed bonds with his classmates.
• Yichen developed Quasi-Yin Attribute Chakra, learned basic techniques, and joined Iwagakure’s Barrier Team, where he advanced his sealing studies.
• Yichen discovered a Kirigakure spy, escaped his attacks, and killed him, earning village rewards and recognition for his Water Clone insights.
• Yichen defeated classmates in sparring and introduced them to the Will of Stone as the Second Shinobi War neared its end.

Yichen grew from a young genin into a Chunin while studying Sealing Jutsu, completing missions, and helping the Barrier Team harness Natural Energy. After Team Five disbanded, he joined Anbu Team 18 and took part in an attack on a merchant caravan.

• Ōnoki used Yichen’s plan to seize Uzumaki Sealing Jutsu and people with Uzumaki blood, while manipulated intelligence drew Konoha and other villages into conflict over the Land of Whirlpools.
• Yichen studied the seized scrolls, joined the Barrier Team’s research, graduated into Team Five, and learned to work with Tana and Shinohara under Kitsuchi.
• Team Five completed missions together, defeated rogue ninja, and recovered Little Sumire from Yakushi Nonō, whom Yichen persuaded to provide Medical Ninjutsu records.
• Yichen passed his Chunin assessment by defeating Kenbon, then trained his Water Release and fought alongside Team Five against Imamura Kosaku, Kono Oda, and Yuki Kagami.
• After two years of pursuit missions, the war ended and Team Five disbanded, with Yichen and Tana assigned to Anbu while Shinohara became a captain.
• Yichen helped Ōnoki and the Barrier Team test a seal that gathered Natural Energy, volunteered to live in its enclosed area, and reported that his affinity for Natural Energy might be growing.

Yichen grew into a Special Jonin and squad leader while Iwagakure and Konoha clashed over Sasori and Sunagakure. After leading Team 7 through a successful border mission and training them as a unit, he chose to return to the Land of Rain and check on Yahiko, Nagato, Konan, and the Akatsuki Organization.

• Yichen exchanged his Water Pressure Line Jutsu for free techniques, learned new Yin Release abilities, and joined Team 18 on a mission to assess the Land of Rain.
• Yichen helped Yahiko obtain food for refugees, then warned Team 18 that Konoha was secretly involved in the Land of Rain as the team investigated a compromised intelligence drop.
• Yichen and Team 18 killed Root cleanup forces, captured Sasori after he poisoned an Iwa outpost, and received S-rank mission rewards.
• Yichen trained his Genjutsu, swordsmanship, and ninjutsu, then helped Ōnoki locate Konoha forces during the exchange of Sasori for supplies with Sunagakure.
• Ōnoki’s ambush devastated Konoha’s forces, White Fang returned with few survivors, and Hiruzen removed him from his positions before White Fang died by suicide.
• Yichen received a Special Jonin promotion, formed Team 7 with Kaede, Qingtian, and Sumire, and led them on a successful raid against Konoha squads.
• Yichen submitted a report urging Iwagakure to exploit Konoha’s internal divisions, and Ōnoki sealed it as a high-level secret and named Yichen a candidate for future leadership.
• Yichen trained Team 7, defeated the three members in a hunting exercise, and chose a mission to the Land of Rain to visit Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan.

Yichen built a trade network and Supply Station linking the Land of Earth and the Land of Rain while developing his abilities and earning promotion to Jonin. After learning that Danzo’s Root was preparing to move against the Akatsuki Organization, Yichen went to the Land of Rain to investigate and ended the stretch facing a Root Uchiha with Rain Style: Heavy Rain Jutsu.

• Yichen gained Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan’s cooperation by funding the Akatsuki Organization and proposing safer trade routes and broader access to goods.
• Yichen developed new Water Release techniques, led caravans between the Land of Earth and the Land of Rain, and helped establish a growing trade network with the Akatsuki Organization.
• Yichen led ten Chunin squads through an ambush, defeated two Jonin, and began building a fortified Supply Station at the border.
• Yichen expanded the trade route’s defenses and operations over nearly two years, then returned to Iwagakure and discovered that Dango was absorbing Natural Energy.
• Yichen reported that Root had contacted the Rain Village, earned promotion to Official Jonin, and used his Contribution Points to obtain the Light-Weight Rock Technique and a secret Chakra Fusion scroll.
• With Ōnoki’s guidance, Yichen mastered flying with the Light-Weight Rock Technique and combined it with Camouflage Jutsu before heading alone to the Land of Rain.
• Yichen warned the Akatsuki Organization about Konoha and discovered that a Root Uchiha’s Sharingan could see through his concealment.
• Yichen fled the Root squad, lured the Uchiha into using the Great Fireball Jutsu, and launched Rain Style: Heavy Rain Jutsu as the pursuer closed in.
