Yichen helped Iwagakure host the Joint Chunin Exams, developed Sage Mode from the Giant Panda’s Natural Energy method, and took on six new disciples. As Iwagakure moved to strengthen its foreign ties, reports of Konoha shinobi disappearing sent Yichen out of the village.

• Yichen secured Amegakure’s participation in the exams, helped develop a controlled Natural Energy method, and repeatedly tested it while studying Sage Arts.
• Yichen drew Kumogakure into the exams by using the Byakugan as bait, then observed the Cloud and Sand ninja clash after Tanimoto Naoto led an ambush against Sunagakure.
• Yichen’s team helped Ikura defeat and capture Tanimoto Naoto, while Sunagakure later agreed to an alliance with Iwagakure during the exams.
• The Joint Chunin Exams concluded with Sunagakure’s Ryosuke winning, and Yichen encouraged his disciples after they failed to place among the top three.
• Yichen and Ikura successfully awakened Yichen’s Sage Mode using the Natural Energy gathered inside the seal, and Ōnoki began training to do the same.
• Yichen selected six new disciples, formed two teams, and arranged specialized training, including ninja-cat partners for Suda Himezuki.
• Ōnoki’s leaders agreed to seek closer ties with the Uchiha Clan and avoid interfering with possible Cloud-Mist negotiations, while approving Yichen’s planned trip to the Land of Water.
• After spies reported that Jiraiya, Minato Namikaze, and other Konoha Elite Jonin had disappeared, Yichen left Iwagakure and entrusted his disciples to Tomoko.

Yichen maneuvered through conflicts among the great villages, helped bring down Jiraiya, and developed Storm Release as war preparations intensified. He returned to training his disciples and was assigned to oversee Iwagakure’s Chunin Selection Exams, where they entered as full teams.

• Yichen infiltrated Konoha, stole Sokai Uchiha, and promised to let him return if the Uchiha became Hokage or moved back to the village center by his graduation.
• Yichen discovered the Mist ninja’s trap for the Third Raikage, stole infant Yuki Haku from Kirigakure, and triggered clashes between Mist and Konoha by blaming Orochimaru for an attack.
• After Orochimaru defected and Jiraiya went searching for him, Yichen defeated Kakuzu, negotiated for Lightning Release techniques, and led Iwagakure’s new Lightning Release research team.
• Yichen helped Ōnoki and the Cloud ninja kill Jiraiya, then Iwagakure prepared for war as Minato Namikaze became Konoha’s Fourth Hokage.
• After Obito Uchiha died in a clash with Kirigakure, Yichen completed his physical evolution and developed Storm Release, becoming the only ninja known to possess two bloodlines.
• Yichen resumed training his disciples, taught Uchiyama Takuhiro Light-Weight Rock Technique, and began teaching Kawazoe Yura Five Elements Sealing Jutsu.
• Ōnoki assigned Yichen to oversee Iwagakure’s Chunin Selection Exams, and more than a month later Yichen’s, Han’s, and Tomoko’s disciples entered the competition as full teams.

Yichen advanced Iwagakure through war, new alliances, and his rise to Fourth Tsuchikage while developing Light Release and confronting Obito. After choosing three new disciples, he secretly seized Takigakure’s Seven-Tails Jinchuriki.

• Yichen helped oversee the Chunin examinations, then developed Light Release with Ōnoki’s help as his disciples completed their training and chose new assignments.
• Ōnoki sent Yichen to investigate the Mist invasion, where Yichen witnessed Might Duy kill four of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist and recovered their swords and Might Duy’s corpse.
• Yichen tracked Obito to Madara Uchiha’s underground base, took Madara’s Sharingan and a piece of the Ten-Tails, and escaped after fighting Obito and Black and White Zetsu.
• After recovering, Yichen negotiated an alliance with Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan to establish the Dark Akatsuki, then returned to Iwagakure to train in seclusion.
• Ōnoki arranged a three-on-three contest between Yichen’s and Ikura’s Jonin disciples to decide his successor, and Yichen’s team won the match.
• Yichen became Fourth Tsuchikage, reorganized village duties, and selected Deidara as one of Ōnoki’s disciples while taking Atsumi Akino, Uzumaki Riori, and Ishinose Kiyoshi as his own.
• After training his new disciples for a month, Yichen flew to Takigakure, defeated the guards protecting the Seven-Tails Jinchuriki, sealed its Chakra, and carried it away.

Yichen helped reshape the balance among the great villages, trained his disciples, and traded techniques with Orochimaru while investigating a spatial seal near Uzushio Village. He returned to Iwagakure with a shark clan and new techniques, as Danzo and Kumogakure turned their attention toward the Hyuga Clan.

• Yichen freed the Seven-Tails over Konoha during Obito’s attack, then stole ninjutsu scrolls as the village fought to contain it.
• After Minato Namikaze and Kushina died, Tsunade became the Fifth Hokage, while Fugaku sought refuge for Uchiha children and Yichen agreed to meet him.
• Yichen joined Nagato and Yahiko in defeating Hanzo, then helped them establish new villages and divide the Land of Rain’s territory.
• Fugaku arranged for thirteen Uchiha children to be exchanged with Iwagakure, and Sokai awakened his Sharingan after reading Fugaku’s message.
• Yichen trained Kawakita in swordsmanship, helped Ogura Saki develop Flame Release, and assigned Atsumi Akino to study Minato Namikaze’s Space-Time Ninjutsu.
• Yichen traveled with three disciples, helped Ishinose Kiyoshi sign a Summoning Contract with the Great Shark, and traded techniques and information with Orochimaru.
• At Uzushio Village, Yichen and Atsumi Akino deciphered spatial runes in a seal, and Yichen trained in its gravity dimension before returning to Iwagakure with hundreds of sharks.
• Danzo searched Hyuga records for secrets of the Byakugan, and Yichen suspected Kumogakure’s peace delegation planned to target the Hyuga Clan.
