Avengers Meeting
Avengers Tower.
Several months later, Steve returned to the place, his heart filled with mixed emotions.
The world is changing so fast.
It was so fast that he couldn't keep up.
During the time it took him to climb out of the ice, he struggled to emerge from a world from a century ago and slowly begin to accept this new world.
Hydra, prehistoric creatures, gods, alien wars...
One thing after another kept challenging his worldview.
But after going through so much, Steve has finally developed some ability to accept things.
At that time, he told himself that at least, no matter how the world changes, it needs him, and the people of this country need him.
But just a few months later, he found that even that had changed.
Tony Stark created Ultron Robot completely replaced Super Hero, instantly ushering in a crime-free era for New York and the entire world.
Although he didn't think it was right to arrest potential criminals prematurely, since no one could be sure that Ultron's predictions were 100% accurate, his opinion didn't count.
Ultron was eventually activated.
As we've seen, all the Super Hero are now unemployed.
He also retreated behind the scenes, working with Sam to help veterans recover from the trauma of war—he didn't know what else he could do.
Actually, this is nothing. If peace can truly be achieved, Steve doesn't care.
But he remained very uneasy.
Tony said that people can't be trusted because some people can fall into depravity. Hydra has been destroyed, but human greed hasn't. Steve thought he was right.
However, this does not mean that machines are necessarily trustworthy.
Now his worst fears have come true— Ultron has turned his attention to former Super Hero, viewing those who once protected Earth as a threat.
This was unbearable for Steve.
During this time, he saw too many veterans who were abandoned by the country after leaving the battlefield.
Their past honors are worthless. They wear medals and bear wounds, yet they don't even have the money to buy a bottle of Self-Healing Serum. They wander the streets like homeless people, dragging their broken bodies.
They had nothing and no security.
Steve felt that Super Hero seemed to be facing the same situation, or even worse.
Ultron's view of them as a threat is tantamount to discarding them after they have served their purpose.
This time, they even attacked Spider-Man- Man; it's simply incomprehensible!
Steve and Peter had quite a few interactions. In his eyes, Peter was a very good kid—responsible, strong, but never thinking of using his abilities for bad things. He was also very gentle. Although his personality became a bit more flamboyant after putting on the Venom suit, he was still a good kid.
He's at least a hundred times better Tony.
If we're talking about threats, Steve thinks Tony himself is a big threat.
Stubborn and headstrong!
Steve admitted that Tony was indeed very smart, smarter than anyone he knew, perhaps only Ben could compare to Tony.
But he also understood a crucial point: intelligent people are not infallible.
When a person believes that he is the only one with foresight and that everyone else is a fool, that is precisely when he is in the most danger.
Especially intelligent people.
Because once they make a mistake, it's often a colossal one.
Just like the Operation Paperclip that Howard once executed.
Howard meant well; he valued the talents of Hydra and believed their intelligence could make the country stronger.
And indeed, it became more powerful, except that it was Hydra that grew stronger.
Regardless of the circumstances, this matter needs to be addressed.
He and Sam walked into Avengers Tower together.
Sam was just an extra, but he was indeed one of the Avengers. He made an appearance during the fight against Hydra, but he was insignificant and didn't stand out much.
The reason he came with Steve is partly because Steve is indeed among the Avengers meeting attendees, and partly out of a sense of shared fate. This time it was Spider-Man who was attacked by Ultron, but who's to say it won't be Falcon next time?
"Long time no see, Captain."
As soon as the two entered, they ran into Natasha.
Natasha wasn't dressed like a secret agent; she looked more like a stylish office worker, her fiery red hair slightly curled and falling over her bulging suit jacket.
Steve wasn't surprised.
Super Hero are out of work, and the agents aren't much better off. Since Ultron's launch, even H.A.M.M.E.R.. hasn't received funding from the Security Council.
Norman didn't fly the aircraft carrier around all the time; instead, he just dropped it into the sea and left it to linger in the Pacific Ocean. Although the maintenance costs were still very high, it was still better than flying it in the air.
Those agents had nothing to do, and they couldn't just collect their salaries for nothing, so Norman sent most of them out to earn extra money.
Natasha now works at Primus, where she teaches Mary Jane how to manage the company.
This was a small matter for her, not to mention that Primus paid for her six types of insurance and two types of housing fund. Natasha was quite satisfied with her current life and had long since given up on going back to being a secret agent.
However, this does not mean that she supports Ultron.
Natasha also had a good impression of Peter. Although she herself had crawled out of the mud and was, to put it mildly, filthy, she still felt a sense of goodwill towards clean children.
Ultron can even take on Spider-Man now; if we really settle accounts, she wasn't exactly a good person before.
Steve and she were already quite familiar with each other, so there wasn't much small talk. He went straight to the point and asked, "How's the situation now? Has Benny arrived?"
"It should be on its way."
Natasha shrugged.
Ben has rarely appeared on Primus lately; he's practically been stationed on the Space Station. I really don't understand what the Galactic Plumbers have to be so busy with these days.
Natasha sighed and said, "I think Tony's in for trouble this time."
She knew better than anyone that Ben was no easy person to talk to. Nick Fury had suffered a lot at Ben's hands back then, and was eventually kicked out in disgrace, and now he was completely gone—she didn't know that Nick Fury had long since left Earth and gone to wander the stars with his Skrull wife.
Now that Ultron has targeted Peter Parker, it would be terrible if it caused a conflict between the Galactic Plumbers and Tony.
After all, the leader of the Galactic Plumbers is Ben Parker, so they don't need to worry about him being detrimental to Earth.
Natasha glanced behind Steve and Sam, and finding no one else around, asked in surprise, "T'Challa didn't come with you?"
Bucky is one thing, since he's not Avengers, but it's a bit strange that Black Panther didn't come, considering that even Daredevil was there today.
"He went back to Wakanda," Steve said.
He and T'Challa do have a good relationship; they get along very well in terms of personality.
However, after Ultron, T'Challa felt that Black Panther was no longer needed there, so he returned to his country.
Wakanda was also being monitored by Ultron, but he was unaware of it. The Ultron Robot seemed oblivious to the unusual nature of the country and had never set foot in that world.
Natasha nodded and then told Steve and Sam about the current situation.
"Now Harry Osborn, along with Peter's uncle and aunt, have arrived. Harry Osborn is furious that his friend was attacked and is launching a vicious attack on Tony. Tony refuses to back down, and the chief is trying to mediate."
That's what they say, but in reality, Norman was definitely on Peter's side.
Peter was also a promising junior of his; if it weren't for Ben, he would have been Norman's favorite child.
However, he actually received a secret message from Ben, asking him to try to act as a peacemaker.
Norman didn't know what Ben was planning, but he trusted Ben a great deal. Since Ben his own plans, Norman naturally didn't say anything more.
Therefore, when Steve and the others entered the conference room, this is what they saw—
Norman Osborn, dressed in a black suit, sat with a stern face at one end of the long table in the conference room. To his left sat members of the Galactic Plumbers. The first seat was empty, followed by Harry, then the Parker Family, and then Daredevil. Felicia did not sit down; she had one foot on the edge of the table, her claws gleaming, ready to tear the person opposite her apart at any moment.
On the other long side, Tony Stark sat alone, but behind him were rows of Ultron Robot like terracotta warriors, standing firm as if they were an indestructible wall of bronze and iron.
The Galactic Plumbers had a large and powerful force, but in reality, only Harry was constantly attacking Tony.
Uncle Ben and Aunt May aren't the type to argue with others, but of course, they couldn't stand by and watch their nephew be bullied. So they sat there steadfastly, demanding an explanation from Stark.
Harry was much more aggressive.
Since receiving the serum and becoming the CEO of the Osborn Corporation, his personality has changed drastically; he is no longer as timid as before.
So what about Tony Stark?
Osborn may not be your match, but Primus and the Galactic Plumbers are not afraid of you!
"Stark, your robot attacked the Galactic Plumbers's Plumbers without provocation! You need an explanation!" Harry glared at Tony and Ultron, angrily stating, "I demand you immediately terminate the Ultron program and issue a public apology!"
"I told you, Ultron's target was that little black thing!" Tony leaned back in his chair, showing no sign of backing down, and pointed at Peter in his suit, adding, "And he didn't do it without cause; he violated the New Traffic Law."
Actually, Tony was also having a lot of headaches.
He had no idea that Ultron had attacked Peter, otherwise he would never have allowed Ultron to act as he pleased.
No matter what, Peter is Super Hero and Ben's brother, so his identity is very special.
Actually, he didn't want to strain his relationship with Ben. When he had Contradiction with Steve, Ben had stood up for him—in fact, Ben stood up for both sides—but he's the kind of person who responds better to gentle persuasion than force.
When Felicia arrived with the wrecked Ultron Robot, smashing through the building's windows, and joined Harry and the others to demand an explanation, it was clear that this Contradiction was irreconcilable.
Tony isn't the type to readily admit his mistakes; he's the kind of person who needs others to give him a way out before he can let things slide, which is quite awkward.
Ultron had calculated this precisely, which is why he was certain he could further escalate the Contradiction between the two sides.
Perhaps Tony will back down once Ben Parker appears, but the rift between the two sides will only become more pronounced.
"You've gone too far, Tony!"
As Steve entered, he overheard Tony not only refusing to admit his mistake, but also turning around and accusing him.
This made him frown. Relying on his friendship with Howard, he felt that he was Tony's elder and had a responsibility to prevent Tony from going astray.
"You're wrong about this. Even putting Spider-Man aside, the Symbiote and we are allies. Venom helped us a lot in the war, but you treated it as an enemy and a dangerous element!"
He sat down with Sam to Norman's left, and Natasha, though not saying a word, also sat down.
Everyone expressed their stance in their own way, and even those who didn't speak could be clearly seen from their positions.
No one supported Tony in this matter.
Even if Peter don't exonerate Peter, they still have to think about their own future.
"That's right! As expected of the captain, your righteous heart shines brighter than your shapely butt!" Venom was thrilled and popped his head out to thank Steve for speaking up for justice.
Steve really wanted to give him a shield and shut him up!
"I don't deny that, but you have to admit, this black guy who looks like one of those things is very dangerous!"
Tony immediately retaliated.
Sam rolled his eyes; he felt offended.
In the Ultron Robot, one of the robots took a step forward and projected images from its eyes.
Upon closer inspection, everyone realized it was a personality analysis of Venom.
Ultron was clearly prepared. He had eavesdropped on everything Venom said and recorded Peter's actions while he was wearing the Venom suit and moving around the city. He then compared these images with those of Spider-Man and played them directly.
Then, everyone witnessed this black monster constantly urging Peter to eat heads, pointing and whispering to passersby on the street, debating which head looked the most appealing and which was best for frying...
After being rejected by Peter, they set their sights on the criminals' heads.
Of course, Peter wouldn't eat people, but Venom is a real bastard, doing a lot of bad things behind Peter's back—like secretly teaching strangers a lesson, and stealing things from corners Peter can't see...
Meanwhile, everyone noticed that Peter's behavior had become more violent since being possessed by Venom, causing considerable damage and becoming more ruthless towards criminals.
Even Uncle Ben and Aunt May frowned after seeing this.
Clearly, Venom is a terrible friend; it's making Peter worse and is a classic example of making the wrong friends.
After presenting all the data, Ultron immediately drew a conclusion:
"Based on analysis, the Symbiote Venom exhibits extremely antisocial tendencies and is a highly dangerous target that needs to be contained. If left unchecked, there is a 100% chance it will cause massive destruction."
