Lord of the Nine Realms (Happy New Year)
With the death of Vilgax, the War of the Realms finally came to an end.
However, too many worlds have been destroyed by war. Even when Malekith was still alive, he had already caused unrest in the Nine Realms. The original Nine Realms are now practically defunct.
Asgard was transformed into a land of death, and one of the two underworlds was shattered by Ben. Even though Bant later pieced it back together, it was still a broken land. Jotunheim had been in ruins for who knows how long.
Currently, the only one in the Nine Realms that has suffered relatively little damage is Vanaheim.
Loki, under Malekith's orders, attacked Vanaheim, but he was actually disobeying orders. Before he even broke in, he cleared out a wave of enemy troops. Later, a significant portion of the warriors who came to Earth's aid were warlocks from the Vanaheim Gods.
Therefore, after the war ended, Ben didn't need to focus on rebuilding Earth, but instead had to concentrate on reshaping the Nine Realms.
"Shouldn't you be the one to handle this?"
Ben glared at Odin and said irritably.
This old man, not only has he become younger, but he's also become increasingly lazy. The Nine Realms are originally ruled by Asgard, yet he, Lord of the Nine Realms, doesn't care about anything but dragging Ben into being a laborer. Is that reasonable?
The Ancient One, standing to the side, lowered his head, silently sipping his tea, a contented expression on his face.
You two go ahead and do your work, I'm going to lie down.
The Ancient One felt very happy. Although she hadn't found Doctor Strange to succeed her, judging from the way she dealt with the crisis of Vilgax, the sorcerers and Plumbers of the Sanctum Sanctorum cooperated quite well. Her disciples all played a significant role. Even if she left it to her own devices, the Sanctum Sanctorum wouldn't have any major problems.
There's even less to worry about invasions from the Dark Dimension or other dimensions.
The Earth of today is not the Earth of the past. Dormammu and Shomammu, you think you're Dimensional Demon God?
If you dare come, you'll never leave alive!
I don't have to do any chores; retirement is just wonderful.
She took a leisurely sip of tea, squinting as she watched Ben and Odin shift blame onto each other.
"The Nine Realms have been Asgard's territory since ancient times. Now that such a big thing has happened, you can just abandon it and leave it at that. Now that Vilgax is dead, shouldn't you, the policeman, come out and sweep the floor?" Ben said irritably.
"That's not how it works. What do you mean by 'since ancient times'?" Odin had a different opinion. "That's not true at all. The Nine Realms have only submitted to Asgard in the last few thousand years, and it was only because my daughter Hela was ignorant and fought against them. I've always denied it. Now Hela has been captured by you, and Asgard has been destroyed. Logically and morally, you should be the Lord of the Nine Realms."
This old man is frantically shifting blame, abandoning the country he worked so hard to build.
What about the King of King of Sakaar, the Lord of Destiny, the Lord of the Nine Realms taking turns, today it's Sakaar... After a string of nice words and lame phrases, the gist is always the same—from now on, the Nine Realms are yours to control, and you'll have to clean up this mess yourself.
Thousands of years have passed, and Odin has come to terms with it somewhat.
The title of Lord of the Nine Realms had long been of no use to him, and in fact, he had not managed any of the kingdoms outside of Asgard in the past one or two thousand years.
Asgard is his root; he doesn't really care about anything else.
Now, the Yggdrasil, which was so old that it was rotting, has finally completely decayed with the death of Vilgax. The new Yggdrasil will take root and sprout under the nourishment of the Energy of the Universe, becoming the vein that sustains the energy of the Nine Realms and even the universe.
It can be said that the Nine Realms have long since changed hands, and that's something he can't change.
"This too is a cycle. Ragnarok, has begun and ended invisibly," Odin said. "The seeds of the Yggdrasil that I once sowed with the Odin Force have now become the Manna Seed. The old Nine Realms are shattered, and the new Nine Realms will surely be born in your hands."
"Moreover, the reason why the lords of all realms initially recognized Asgard as their sovereign was because I promised to help them in times of crisis. However, that promise has been broken, and the Nine Realms are no longer subordinate to Asgard. On the contrary, the Galactic Plumbers has provided them with assistance this time. I believe that Eitri and the others are now willing to acknowledge Sakaar as their king, aren't they?"
The old man spoke with such seriousness, but Ben couldn't help but think he was just trying to slack off.
However, Odin was not wrong.
"The dwarves do indeed have the idea of submitting to me and begging for my protection," Ben said helplessly. "And they're probably terrified of being beaten; they absolutely refuse to return to Nidavellir and are begging me to let them settle underground on Sakaar."
Sakaar has plenty of land.
The native Sakaarans and Korbinites each number only a few million, which is extremely rare on such a vast planet.
Needless to say, the dwarves, if all of them were added together, would probably only number in the tens of thousands. Moreover, they would live underground and would not occupy any space on the surface. The cave furnace that was temporarily built on Sakaar and could lead to the Giant Stomach would become their home.
Considering the dwarves' usefulness, Ben agreed to let them stay.
Each dwarven craftsman possesses extraordinary skill. Now that Sakaar is being rebuilt, their help will not only speed up the process but also ensure that the rebuilt Sakaar will have a unique appearance.
But ruling over the Nine Realms...
Ben really didn't know what value it held.
The scope and territory of the Galactic Plumbers are already quite large, and more and more planetary civilizations are joining, but those civilizations are essentially still in a state of autonomy, so he doesn't need to worry about them.
However, a dilapidated Nine Realms might very well consume much of his energy.
"Actually, you can't think of it that way," the Ancient One interjected. "After you destroy Vilgax, the power he absorbed won't disappear. As the new Yggdrasil takes root and sprouts, it will return to the Yggdrasil's immense energy flow, ultimately reshaping those broken worlds. At that time, as the ruler of the Nine Realms, you will also receive positive feedback. As long as the Nine Realms are not destroyed, you will be immortal and possess infinite power."
This is considered a characteristic of the Asgard pantheon.
And coincidentally, Ben himself is capable of transforming into Asgard warrior— Cosmigod.
Although the Cosmigod is a hero that Ben has hardly ever used, it actually has great potential. If it were to be bound to the Nine Realms, it could immediately surpass the current Odin and become a major force in battle.
However, Ben's combat power increased too quickly, so he wasn't that concerned.
"Alright, I'm leaving the Nine Realms to you now, I'm getting out of here!" Odin slapped Ben on the shoulder and then dashed off.
He faked his death not long ago, mainly to trick Thor and awaken Thor.
A flawless version, checked one by one!
Now that Thor has indeed come to his senses and gained even greater power than before, Frigga tells him the truth.
Thor couldn't hold back anymore.
That old bastard, all he ever thinks about is messing with his son. Fueled by both old and new grudges, Thor decides to make a decision that shows filial piety to his son—he's going to teach Odin a lesson!
These past few days, Thor has been using his divine power to fly the Bifrost all over the universe, specifically to catch him.
Even if Odin hides in Legerdomain, it won't work. Thor's divine power has long since merged with the Energy of the Universe, and his Bifrost is also Energy of the Universe version, allowing him to enter and exit Legerdomain freely.
He decided to spend the next few days hiding in the Pantheon.
Odin abandoned his post and ran away, leaving the responsibility of Lord of the Nine Realms to Ben.
It's pretty much what Odin said: now, apart from Sakaar, no one is qualified to be the Lord of the Nine Realms. However, restoring the Nine Dimensions to their former state is a problem for Ben.
Fortunately, although the Ancient One has retired, she is still someone you can talk to.
While holding her tea and refining her Energy of the Universe, she added absentmindedly, "Of the Nine Realms, Jotunheim, Niflheim, and Nidavellir can be said to have completely ceased to exist."
The giants of Jotunheim were all slaughtered, leaving behind only an empty shell of a kingdom. After the dwarves settled on Sakaar, Nidavellir became a true legend.
"But conversely, Sakaar and Legerdomain can be integrated into the Nine Realms," the Ancient One said.
In fact, Legerdomain showed signs of merging with the Nine Realms from the very beginning. When Odin moved, he wanted to bring the Yggdrasil Yggdrasil with him, intending to gradually change its nature. However, Vilgax's actions were like chopping off all the rotten branches with an axe.
"The shattered land of Niflheim can merge with Helheim. One world of the dead is enough, but Heaven can be returned to its former glory," the Ancient One said.
The angels of Heaven, though also enemies, have now surrendered and become prisoners.
The Fire Demon of Muspelheim and the remaining Dark Elf of Svartalfheim were in the same predicament; with the defeat of Vilgax, they surrendered without hesitation.
There's no need to eliminate all of these people, but they do need to be controlled; if left unchecked, another Malekith could very well emerge.
After discussing it, Ben and the Ancient One decided to hand over these troublesome matters to the right people.
Odin can shirk his responsibilities without a problem, since his child is in Ben's hands anyway.
Besides, this old man has many children; dividing them among the Nine Realms would be about right.
As for that Heaven that has fallen into Knowhere, Ben intends to transform it into the long-abandoned Null Void.
