Under Ben's gaze, the surface of the Little Broken Watch was covered in black on both sides, with only a small area in the center turning yellow.
The method for collecting genes was simple. He only needed to bring the gene into contact with the watch, and it would be automatically recorded.
However, before fully loading the data, the watch would first analyze the gene to determine whether it belonged to an intelligent life-form or whether it was of the same species as the watch's wearer. If so, it would automatically delete the gene.
That was why Ben had been unable to extract Superpowers from the Radioactive Spider and Peter.
He first took out a strand of Thor's hair.
He had secretly cut it from Thor while transformed into Ghostfreak, using his claws.
After roughly half a minute, the watch sounded another notification.

Hearing that, Ben was initially stunned. He thought the Little Broken Watch had malfunctioned and could not record the data. It took him a moment to realize that it simply could not connect to the cloud.
The Little Broken Watch was now like a computer disconnected from the internet. It could not save data online, so it could only store it locally.
That was not much of a problem for Ben.
As long as Capture Mode still worked, that was enough.

Then came a crisp chime. The watch turned green, and as its pattern shifted, two black silhouettes appeared side by side.
