Background / History

Jin Rong was born into an ordinary family and joined the army in her youth. By the time she visited Grandma He's Noodle House in Chapter 3, she had served for nearly two decades and reached Vice Captain entirely through personal merit. Her mother, Grandma He, remained proud of her career but mourned how rarely they could see one another. 3

She previously served as Mao Shucheng's secretary and became one of his longtime subordinates. When the Jaeger Combat Department was created, Mao appointed her head of its Combat Information Analysis Team because of her meticulous work and exceptional tactical-analysis ability. Jin Rong also supported expanding Jaeger synesthetic testing beyond military personnel. 4 5

During Shanlan's attack on Dalian, Jin Rong feared for her mother's life and considered returning without authorization. The military instead reassigned her to Dalian's post-war logistics work in support of the combat forces. Although Grandma He survived, their old home was destroyed; the experience strengthened Jin Rong's resolve to eliminate the Kaiju threat. 3
