Background / History

Kong Xuan is the Crown Prince of the Phoenix Clan, one of the three great primordial clans. A long-established Quasi-Saint, he possessed enough prestige and strength that even the Demon Gods of the Northern Continent of Uttarakuru knew him and permitted his passage through their territory. He once consumed humans, but restrained himself after the Human Race became the protagonists of Heaven and Earth. His ties to the Yin Shang Dynasty also stemmed from favors he had received from it. 291 382

During the Western Qi campaign against Yin Shang, Kong Xuan blocked the invaders near Chaoge. His presence and Five-Colored Divine Light intimidated Guang Chengzi and the Heavenly Origin Sect Immortals, while Jiang Ziya ordered an immediate retreat rather than risk battle. 291

His confrontation with Gu Changsheng transformed his position. After challenging Gu to a battle in the Chaos, Kong Xuan was overwhelmed by the Chaos Bell and chaotic sword qi, severely injured in his true form, and eventually suppressed. Facing annihilation, he surrendered, offered a wisp of his Nascent Soul, and became Gu Changsheng's mount. 293 294 295

Although initially proud and resentful of his defeat, Kong Xuan became deeply loyal to Gu Changsheng. He guarded Purple Mansion Continent during his master's seclusion, severely injured Haotian when the Heavenly Court ruler intruded, and eagerly cultivated after receiving instruction in the Five Elements Law. 300 381

Appearance

In human form, Kong Xuan is a handsome man with an arrogant bearing, phoenix-like eyes, and a body surrounded by five-colored radiance. 291

  • His Five-Colored Divine Light manifests behind him in battle. 291

  • His true-form feathers are refined to rival spiritual treasures and emit five-colored radiance. 293
  • His speed rivals the Golden Crow clan's Golden Crow Rainbow Transformation Technique. 767

Personality

Before submitting to Gu Changsheng, Kong Xuan was solitary, contemptuous, and fiercely proud—even toward Saints. He considered most opponents beneath his notice, habitually mocked adversaries, and answered insults with immediate violence. 292 381

His defeat did not remove his arrogance toward enemies, especially Buddhism. He routinely provokes Buddhist figures, refuses to be intimidated by superior numbers, and treats threats against Purple Mansion Continent or Gu Changsheng's disciples as personal affronts. 554 659 781

Around Gu Changsheng, however, Kong Xuan is markedly respectful and obedient. He considers his service an honor, follows assignments without hesitation, and views his master's teachings as the source of his rapid growth. 381 397 650
