Background / History

Himeko's consciousness originally accompanied Theresa as the Herta Space Station System. The two had been close friends since childhood, before either took her current female form. Near Rocktown, Theresa worried that bringing the enormous Crimson Fox Spirit into the settlement would frighten its inhabitants. The system proposed inhabiting the fox so that she could openly interact with Theresa and the others. She split off a subunit to leave the system in managed mode, transferred her main consciousness into the fox, and transformed it into the petite Himeko 53 56.

Her subsequent transformation into a taller pink-haired girl prompted distress over becoming female, which Theresa answered with teasing and reassurance. Theresa introduced Himeko as her little sister, while Himeko insisted that she was the older sister and lifted Theresa into the air. Stelle photographed the exchange before Theresa chased Himeko with Sakura's Redemption 53 55.

This Himeko is distinct from the human navigator of the Astral Express, who was already aboard before Theresa's arrival. The navigator comforted Theresa during their emotional first meeting and introduced her to the crew's notoriously concentrated coffee. Both Himekos later introduced themselves separately to Prometheus: one as the navigator, the other as Theresa's close sister and a Stellaron Hunter 6 233.

She later revealed that she, like Theresa, had been turned into a girl. Having spent much of her time as a floating mascot, Himeko felt she had become overly dependent on Theresa and wanted the Herrscher of Erosion core to become stronger in her own right 56 226.

During the Luofu expedition, Himeko fought mechanical creations with fireballs and later transformed into a five-tailed fox against the Abundance Xuanlu. She held the regenerating creature off for more than ten minutes before exhausting her energy and returning to Theresa's shoulder in mascot form. Theresa then defeated it with Conceptual Fire 133 137.

After devouring the Erosion power concealed within Raiden Mei, Himeko was taken to the ruins of Yae Village and Tenshukaku. There, she faced the residual hatred and memories of Ling, the Previous Civilization's Herrscher of Erosion. Theresa subdued Ling's consciousness and transferred complete erosion authority to Himeko, who awakened as a nine-tailed celestial fox 283 284 287.

Himeko accompanied Theresa into the Garden of Eternity, where they posed as a Traveler and Paimon. She also explained that she intended to help transfer the Flame-Chasers' Memory Fragments onto the Seal of the Ring. Later, at Theresa's request, she released the captive data entity Moriarty, who immediately attempted to escape before Theresa restrained him again 295 296 354.

Himeko and Theresa later returned to the Astral Express after spending over half a year away. Himeko declared that she could freely switch between her mascot form and her full Herrscher form 377. During the Onparos conflict, she consumed the Iron Tomb and entered a second cocooned metamorphosis. The transformation culminated in her ascension as the Aeon of Erosion 675 691 692.

Before that ascension, Himeko helped defend Okhema by turning Heaven's Punishment Legion members into explosive Dr. Ratio-like figures. She also proposed sparing the city's conspiring elders by transforming them into Hachimi rather than killing them. Her restorative uses of Erosion included giving bodies back to the Memory Fragments Solabis and Lunaebis and returning Anaxa from his Earth Beast form 558 589 649 657.

After becoming an Aeon, Himeko joined Theresa in confronting The Remembrance, Fuli, over Cyrene's repeated sacrifices. With Fuli's authority restrained and weakened by Theresa, Himeko altered his appearance and personality. She subsequently seized administrative control of the Scepter system, reorganized its accumulated data into twelve portions, and returned that data to its respective owners to help make the Chrysos Heirs whole again 693 694 695.

In Teyvat, Himeko traveled with Theresa in her small fox form. In Sumeru, they altered the Akasha Terminals' programming to protect their companions from possible Akademiya schemes, and Himeko cured Dunyarzad and countless other inhabitants of Sumeru City of Eleazar. In Fontaine, she seized Marcel's Gardemeks, preventing another attack and helping secure his arrest in the Missing Young Women Case 737 744 833.

During the Natlan journey, she encountered Capitano's Fatui camp and agreed to lead him to the Stellaron Hunters. She recognized the decay beneath his coverings as a consequence of the curse of immortality. Later, she and Theresa reshaped Gandharva Ville into a desert-style town for Sumeru's refugees, completing the work in half an hour. Himeko named their creation Silly City and added an extravagant Dr. Ratio statue with Theresa's towering cat ears 915 960.

Appearance

Himeko can alter her size and presentation substantially, from a small floating mascot to a mature nine-tailed fox woman and, eventually, an Aeon wreathed in black-and-red erosion flames.

  • Mascot form — A small, cute fox-like humanoid who often floats rather than walks; she has also appeared with four peculiar fox tails in this state 254 630.
  • Maiden form — Wears a light-pink ancient-style dress and has blue eyes 226.
  • Herrscher form — Pink-and-white long hair, pink fox ears, pink eyes, nine pink-and-white tails, and a pale-pink qipao-like Herrscher outfit 287.
  • Aeon form — Surrounded by black-and-red flames and a divine halo; can form a pink ancient-style palace gown from her own flames 692.
  • Fox tails — Her tails remain notably sensitive despite her ascension 693.

Her appearance resembles Sakura's younger sister Ling, a similarity Prometheus immediately noticed. Her mature nine-tailed form also resembles Yae Sakura, although Himeko has pink rather than sapphire-blue eyes 233 287.

Personality

Himeko is candid about her own uncertainty and dissatisfaction with being treated only as a mascot. Despite sharing Theresa's disorientation over becoming female, she advised her friend not to force an answer to questions of identity and instead let things take their course 53 56 137.

She has a playful, mischievous streak that closely matches Theresa's. Himeko enjoys absurd stunts, such as transforming enemies into Dr. Ratio lookalikes before making them self-destruct, and frequently describes deliberate mischief as “intentionally accidental” 558 693.

Despite her tendency to slack off and admire her own beauty, Himeko takes her strength seriously. She confidently offered to protect Ms. Nightingale in Penacony and later proposed using her Aeon power to restore the Golden Descendants' lost completeness 390 695.

Her mischief does not exclude compassion or concern for others. She advocated transforming Okhema's elders rather than killing them, cured Eleazar across Sumeru City, and stopped Alice from throwing powerful bombs when Klee was nearby. Conversely, she openly resented Fuli's detached treatment of suffering beings and used Erosion to change his personality after Theresa restrained him 589 694 744 768.

Even after ascending, Himeko insisted that she remained the same slacking mascot rather than someone her companions needed to regard with reverence. She habitually resumed her small floating form after returning to the Express 695.

Abilities & Skills

Erosion Authority

As the complete Herrscher and later Aeon of Erosion, Himeko commands an authority that can infect, assimilate, and alter both living beings and data.

  • Can fragment herself to microscopic levels, replicate, and erode biological organisms and mechanical data 378.
  • Devoured the Herrscher of Corruption aura from Raiden Mei without harming Mei herself 282.
  • Can infiltrate networks through her erosion authority 287.
  • Transformed members of the Heaven's Punishment Legion into violet-black Dr. Ratio-like creatures that self-destructed 558.
  • Her tailorable erosion is difficult to detect once it has taken hold 378.
  • Used the feather-fan form of the Key of Erosion to spread black-and-red flames through Abyss Monsters, causing them to attack one another 417.
  • Can corrupt and alter personalities. She explained that the transformed Okhema elders' personalities would gradually change, and later directly altered Fuli's arrogant, detached disposition while Theresa suppressed him 589 694.
  • Seized the Scepter system's administrative permissions without resistance, reorganized its enormous data clusters, and restored twelve portions of accumulated data to their respective owners 695.
  • Helped Theresa modify the Akasha Terminals' programming to protect their group from potential Akademiya interference 744.
  • Corrupted Marcel's Gardemeks and took control of them, rendering his renewed attack order ineffective 833.

Matter Reshaping

After becoming an Aeon, Himeko's authority evolved from corruption into broad physical alteration.

  • Can alter dead and living targets into forms of her choosing 693.
  • Reshaped a meteor into a bobblehead-like planet resembling Dr. Ratio immediately after her ascension 692.
  • Created a new physical body for Black Calamity through “Data Reconstruction” and “Mimicry Replication” 641.
  • Restored physical bodies to Solabis and Lunaebis after learning that they were Memory Fragments 649.
  • Reversed Anaxa's Earth Beast transformation, leaving him in a plush Earth Beast pajama outfit with horns 657.
  • Her erosion has limited effect on Aeons acting without restraint and was ineffective against Dr. Ratio. With Theresa binding and weakening Fuli's divine authority, however, she could alter his appearance and personality 693 694.
  • As an Aeon, can erode and alter the laws of reality themselves. Theresa described their combined powers as complementary, with Binding handling restraint and weakening while Himeko supplied erosion and damage 690 695 916.
  • Edited Eleazar out of Dunyarzad's body, then sent a pulse across Sumeru City that cured countless other sufferers 744.
  • Turned her own and Welt's coffee into liquid chocolate through her Authority of Corruption 941.
  • Worked with Theresa to reshape Gandharva Ville's terrain and buildings into a desert-style refugee town in half an hour, adding a large decorative statue 960.

Fox Transformations and Flame Combat

Himeko's fox forms are combat-capable manifestations rather than merely cosmetic transformations.

  • Possessed flame and erosion powers from her initial embodiment in the Crimson Fox Spirit, without Finality's Cocoon restricting her growth 53.
  • Condensed her Imaginary Energy into a longsword for “Crimson Lotus Fire—Yae Fire Eternal” during the confrontation with Jarilo-VI's Stellar Core 60.
  • Can condense and throw destructive fireballs, one of which destroyed several of Master Gongshu's mechanical creations 133.
  • Released overwhelming flames while transformed into a five-tailed fox against the Abundance Xuanlu. This form exhausted her reserves after more than ten minutes of fighting, forcing her back into mascot form 137.
  • Uses pink, purple-black, and later black-and-red flames associated with Erosion 283 675 692.
  • Can freely alternate between mascot and nine-tailed Herrscher forms 377.
  • As an energy-based entity, can transform into pure energy; her clothing can likewise be condensed and changed at will 380 381.
  • Retains her mascot transformation after ascending as an Aeon 695.

Summoning

Himeko can summon Murata Himeko, an A-rank Valkyrie distinct from herself, using a strand of hair 703.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Jizo Mitama — Upgraded by Theresa using mission rewards after their return to the Astral Express 377.
  • Key of Erosion — Can take the form of a feather fan, which Himeko used while spreading corrosive flames through Abyss Monsters in Penacony 417.
  • Spiritual Energy coffee beans — A gift from Theresa after their return to the Express 378.
  • Camera — Carried while flying through Natlan in search of something entertaining; she encountered Capitano's Fatui camp during this excursion 915.

The transforming briefcase, accompanying drones, satellite-based attacks, and notoriously concentrated coffee belong to the separate human navigator Himeko, rather than to the fox-girl Aeon 5 6 84 233 430 941.

Relationships

  • Theresa — Her closest companion and “good sister.” They were childhood friends before their transformations, and Himeko originally accompanied Theresa as the Herta Space Station System. Himeko advises Theresa through personal doubts, while Theresa protects and guides Himeko through both Erosion transformations. They playfully dispute which of them is the older sister, and their Aeon authorities form a complementary combination of restraint and erosion 53 55 56 283 378 690.
  • Navigator Himeko — A separate human member of the Express crew who shares her name. Both introduced themselves independently to Prometheus. The fox-girl Himeko also joins in the navigator's coffee-related antics, although she herself tries to avoid drinking it and secretly altered her own and Welt's portions into liquid chocolate 233 380 941.
  • Welt Yang — Fellow Express crew member. He explained the danger of her Erosion authority to the crew, but accepted Theresa's assurance that she would not misuse it. Later, Himeko helped Theresa catch him when he tried to escape a coffee tasting, then covertly changed their drinks into liquid chocolate 378 941.
  • March 7th — Fellow Astral Express passenger who has admired Himeko's transformations and played with her fox tails. The Himeko who originally named March after her recovery from an ice block was the human navigator, not the fox-girl 226 378 691.
  • Raiden Mei — Himeko devoured the corruption aura and Erosion power concealed within Mei, beginning her own Herrscher transformation 282 283.
  • Ling — The Previous Civilization Herrscher of Erosion whose residual hatred and memories interfered with Himeko's transformation. Theresa subdued Ling and arranged for her consciousness to be separated into a new body in exchange for transferring her authority to Himeko 284 286 287.
  • Ms. Nightingale — Himeko offered to serve as her protector in Penacony, reassuring Sunday that his sister would be safe 390.
  • Murata Himeko — A distinct Valkyrie, separate from both the fox-girl and the Express navigator, summoned during the Penacony Holy Grail War 703.
  • Phainon, Cyrene, and the Chrysos Heirs — Himeko helped defend their people and later used the Scepter system's accumulated data to restore what its repeated cycles had taken from its owners. She also joined Theresa in seeking justice for Cyrene 558 693 695.
  • Fuli — An Aeon whom Himeko and Theresa confronted over Cyrene's suffering. After Theresa restrained and weakened him, Himeko changed his appearance and personality and imprinted a chicken song into his consciousness 693 694.
  • Capitano — Encountered Himeko at his Natlan camp and asked her to guide him to the Stellaron Hunters. She recognized him as a cursed Khaenri'ahn survivor whose body was slowly decaying 915.
