After examining the scene, Gordon even specifically called in Edward Nygma, a consultant from the evidence department.

In the end, they roughly reconstructed the entire sequence of events.

After identification, all the severed limbs collected from the abandoned factory belonged to Fish's men. The suspects were provisionally identified as two people: Khada Jhin and the Gotham Beast.

After slaughtering Fish and all her men, the killers had even released a large amount of highly toxic gas throughout the abandoned factory...

He swore that he would tear away the mystery surrounding those two!

There were no absolute secrets in Gotham.

Finally, after a series of forceful interrogations, Gordon and Harvey got the information he wanted from a gang member.

Yesterday, Fish had led people to hijack a prisoner being transferred from Blackgate Prison to Arkham Asylum. His name was Ian.

The case had yet to be solved, but Gordon remembered it. It had temporarily been classified as an escape.

But he had not expected Fish to be behind it! And all the clues they currently had pointed to Arkham Asylum!

"Arkham Asylum again..." Gordon muttered with a frown from the passenger seat of the police car. "Harvey, we're going to Arkham Asylum again!"

No Evidence! Still No Evidence!

All of Gordon's actions had actually been under Li Wei's "watch" the entire time!

That included him getting a lead from a gang member.

Li Wei's vision spread throughout Gotham was no decoration!

Everything Gordon and Harvey had uncovered was also within Li Wei's expectations.

When he saw Gordon and Harvey heading for Arkham Asylum, Li Wei called Ian over.

There was not much to tell him. They merely went over their story in advance to prevent any mistakes.

By the time Li Wei and Ian had coordinated their accounts, Gordon and Harvey's car had pulled up outside Arkham Asylum.

"Alright, Ian. Go back to your room first. Remember to lock the door yourself. We'll have guests coming by soon."

"Alright, Director."

After giving Ian his instructions, Li Wei got up and headed downstairs.

Gordon and Harvey got out of the car. Just as they looked up and prepared to knock, the doors of Arkham Asylum opened, revealing Li Wei's face.

"Sheriff Gordon, Sheriff Harvey, hello." Li Wei smiled. "We meet again. What brings you here this time?"

Gordon looked at the smiling Li Wei. Although Li Wei was standing right in front of him, within arm's reach, Gordon somehow felt that Li Wei had become even more mysterious.

Ever since their last meeting, Gordon had carefully considered all the suspicious points surrounding Li Wei.

Although Li Wei had pretended to be a mentally unstable patient during their first meeting, when Gordon had been investigating Khada Jhin—

There had never actually been any direct evidence proving that Li Wei was Khada Jhin, or that he had any connection to Khada Jhin.

And during the second investigation into the Gotham Beast, Arkham Asylum had likewise been among the places searched.

Li Wei had not played dumb and acted insane that time, but they still had not found anything wrong with him!

And there was also Warwick Vander, who looked almost exactly like Stan Topolsky, the main culprit behind the Viper Potion leak!

There was no evidence there either. Gordon's only basis for suspicion was his intuition.

Cases could not be solved with intuition alone. There had to be evidence!

Especially after someone else had been made to take the blame for the murder of The Waynes, Gordon valued that principle even more.

Yet even now, after their investigation had led them to Arkham Asylum, Gordon's instincts told him something was wrong here, but there was still no evidence at all.

All they could do was ask questions.

However, this time, Gordon decided to take a different approach!

"Director Li Wei, do you know Ian Hargrove?" Gordon asked without wasting words, staring straight into Li Wei's eyes.

"Of course. He's one of our patients." Li Wei spread his hands and shrugged. "He's upstairs. Are you looking for him?"

Gordon's eyes lit up, and he exchanged a glance with Harvey.

What they could now confirm was that Ian Hargrove had indeed been abducted by Fish and her people last night. So how had Li Wei gotten him back?

If Li Wei was Khada Jhin, or had some connection to Khada Jhin, then everything made sense!

Unfortunately, they had no evidence...

"Director Li Wei, I would like to know how Ian Hargrove came to Arkham Asylum. According to the information we currently have, yesterday, while he was being transferred from Blackgate Prison to Arkham Asylum, Fish of the Falcone Family led people to abduct him. Then last night, Fish and those involved in the abduction were killed..."

Gordon pressed his advantage, his tone aggressive. He was only a step short of pointing at Li Wei's nose and calling him the murderer!

But Li Wei did not panic in the slightest. Even Gordon's words had fallen more or less within his expectations.

He put on a look of surprise. "Was it that exciting? Ian never told me any of that. He's in his room upstairs right now. Sheriff Gordon, why don't you ask him directly for the details?"

And it had to be said, Li Wei's acting was as good as ever.

At the very least, neither Gordon nor Harvey could find any flaw in his expression.

"Fine! Then we'll go up and take a look!" Gordon had no choice. Without evidence, he could only settle for the next best thing.

If there really was something wrong with Li Wei, perhaps they could find some clue in the hospital.

The two entered Arkham Asylum under Li Wei's guidance.

This was actually the first time either of them had set foot inside the hospital. Without a search warrant, they would never have been able to enter if Li Wei had not permitted it.

Once they stepped inside, the sight before them was no different from an ordinary hospital. The air was filled with the smell of disinfectant, and even the decor was less impressive than that of most high-end medical institutions in Gotham City. Everything carried the feeling of age and disrepair.

Gordon practically wanted to gouge out his eyes and stick them to the walls, but he still could not spot anything unusual.

This was just an ordinary psychiatric hospital.

There was nothing shady in the rooms they passed either. They were even cleaner than those in other hospitals.

Li Wei merely smiled when he saw Gordon and Harvey's behavior, paying it no mind.

Everything was within his expectations and plans.

Long before Gordon and Harvey arrived, he had ordered Dr. Hugo and the others to put away everything in the hospital that could not bear scrutiny.

The many test subjects in the rooms had already been used up during Dr. Hugo's alchemy experiments!

As for why even those now-empty rooms were so clean—

That had to do with Arkham Asylum's handyman—Stan!

Zaun's Fury Warwick's Hero Template had not only granted him all kinds of superhuman abilities, but also extraordinary stamina and abnormally abundant energy.

With nowhere else to vent that energy, he could only pour it into his work. The hospital's spotless environment was entirely his doing.

For some reason, whenever Li Wei saw Stan, he could not help associating him with a certain black-and-white sled dog...

Li Wei had just led the two men onto the second floor when he saw Stan holding a mop and cleaning the corridor.

"Hey! Warwick!" Gordon called out in greeting.

Stan raised his head with a blank look, as though he knew nothing about any of this.

Only when he saw Gordon and Harvey behind Li Wei did he break into a foolish smile and nod. "Hello, officers. We meet again."

Gordon stared into his eyes for a long time, yet found nothing. The man before him seemed to truly be nothing more than an ordinary cleaner, the very picture of a harmless, decent fellow.

Gordon frowned. Could he really have been wrong?...

Now even he had begun to doubt his own instincts.

But the conversation that followed after they met Ian made Gordon firmly believe that something was wrong with this asylum!

"Ian Hargrove?"

"That's me, Officer."

"How did you come to Arkham Asylum? Our information says that you were abducted by Fish and her people yesterday..."

"I walked here myself. Yesterday, a group of strange people did attack the prison guards escorting me, but they didn't pay any attention to me. After they left, I came here on my own..." Ian answered smoothly.

"Wait! You're saying you came here by yourself?"

"Yes. I need treatment, so of course I came to the hospital!"

Although it sounded like there was nothing wrong with that, the biggest problem was precisely that it sounded too normal!

He had already made up his mind. He would definitely find a flaw in Li Wei and Arkham Asylum!

However, without evidence, all suspicions were only suspicions.

In the end, Li Wei still sent him out of Arkham Asylum with a smile.

Gordon and Harvey got into the car parked outside the asylum. Gordon looked at Arkham Asylum looming beneath the smog hanging over Gotham and let out a dispirited sigh.

"Buddy, I think I understand why Gotham suddenly fell into chaos after The Waynes died, why it became harder and harder to understand."

"Oh? Why?"

"Because in a sense, The Waynes were a symbol of this city. Hope, the future..."
