Background

Luo Mang was originally an [Anger]-trait Ron Sorcerer. In his youth, he needed to keep himself angry to effectively wield his bloodline; unlike Xu Nan's rare [Shame] awakening, Luo Mang considers differing awakening traits normal among Ron Sorcerers. He warns that trait-based advancement can consume or destroy its practitioner if taken too far. 35 416

He and Ansu Li were close when both were young, fighting alongside one another on the main plane and in the Abyss. Their relationship later stalled after Ansu Li returned to Stephenson and succeeded her mentor, Jules, while Luo Mang faded from Stephenson's public life. Their connection improved after Luo Mang recovered and returned Ansu Li's lost Breakfast Dagger. 202

Although he long cultivated the public image of a white-haired, bearded old magician, this appearance is a disguise he created to conceal his shyness and intimidate others. Story Role

Meeting Xu Nan

Luo Mang first meets Xu Nan in Lost Paradise, accepts Ansu Li's Breakfast Dagger from him, and assists him in absorbing dragon meat. He explains that Ron Sorcerers awaken through different personal traits and warns Xu Nan that the [Shame] path has historically ended badly for many practitioners. 35

He gradually becomes Xu Nan's acknowledged mentor, arranging for Xu Nan to become Lost Paradise's representative in negotiations with Stephenson and admitting that he personally predetermined Xu Nan's appointment. 103 176

Initiate Sorcerer Path

Luo Mang gives Xu Nan the means to become an Initiate Sorcerer, then guides him to the Great Library and its hidden vault. Though he leaves the final decision to Xu Nan, he makes clear that the key behind the sealed door is essential to the path. 95 104

Wildfire City and the Azure Dreamland

During the crisis surrounding Wildfire City and the Azure Dreamland, Luo Mang works with Ansu Li and other major figures to assess Fernando's schemes. He remains concerned about Xu Nan's safety, though he often believes Xu Nan must face certain dangers and grow through them himself. 355 358 587

Godslaying of Anlun

Before his wedding, Luo Mang recruits Xu Nan to perform the Sending God Song while he confronts Anlun. Anlun attempts to bribe Luo Mang, then uses the ultimate spell Anlun Universe to assimilate him into a distorted arcane realm. 541 542

Luo Mang ultimately destroys Anlun's Divinity in an operation jointly planned with Ansu Li and enabled by the Scroll of Destiny. The Lord of the World of the Dead later intervenes to preserve Anlun's remaining spirit in Primordial Amber. 543 546

Later Mentorship

After marrying Ansu Li, Luo Mang continues advising Xu Nan from Blue Accordion. He helps Xu Nan assess the Pink Book and Apostle of Desire profession, encourages use of a Doppelganger Child for trait advancement, and permits Xu Nan to explore his Half-Plane. 415 416
