Hao Ren had never really considered upgrading Lily's firepower in her combat form, but after she brought it up herself, he realized it actually seemed quite useful—at least for Lily.
Her personal shortcomings were indeed rather obvious.
There were plenty of people in the household, but not everyone needed a "firepower upgrade." Vivian and Izax were both overwhelmingly powerful, the archetypal all-around demons who excelled in both close and ranged combat and combined magic with martial prowess. Their fighting mainly relied on spellcasting abilities and various innate talents, with no obvious weaknesses. Little Demon Elizabeth, like her father, was a talent-based fighter; what she needed most at the moment was learning and growth, not external upgrades. Nangong Sanba's primary function was looking cool, while DPS was merely his side job, so his areas for improvement were selfie skills and posing experience—neither of which required Hao Ren's help. Nangong May... Nangong May's DPS was permanently zero, so upgrading her was pointless. The only one left who could count as even half an active combatant was Roll, but Cat Girl's main weakness was intelligence... so that could be left out of consideration for now.
After thinking it over, Hao Ren felt that improving Lily's strength really was the simplest and fastest option. He had already come up with a plan on the spot.
Looking at Husky Girl's hesitant, pleading eyes, Hao Ren smiled faintly. "All right, leave it to me. I haven't got anything to do at home lately anyway, so I'll look into upgrading your equipment."
"What are you two whispering about over here?" Vivian's voice suddenly came from nearby. She had spotted Hao Ren and Lily carrying their bowls off to the side and acting all mysterious while she was clearing the dishes, and had come over out of curiosity.
