Background / History

An ancient sect record states that, in the 3,721st year of the Taihua calendar, a celestial anomaly caused spacetime turbulence in Taihua’s Northern Region. Heaven Sect’s patriarch, Master Xuanyuan, answered a Holy Land envoy’s summons and assisted in sealing the disturbance. After the seal stabilized three years later, the Holy Land ordered Heaven Sect to guard the site. 990 991

In return, the sect received ten Guardian Puppets, a volume of the Heavenly Derivation Scripture, three spirit veins, and a Secret Realm. These resources enabled Heaven Sect to become Taihua Domain’s foremost sect within ten years. 991

The sect is also believed to have sealed the Gate of Sighs, a catastrophe connected to the separation between the Mystic Heaven Realm and the Galaxy system. Its higher-ups are consequently suspected of knowing the gate’s true history. 917

Heaven Sect stands above Taihua’s four major sects:

Story Role / Major Arcs

Recruitment of Duan Gang

Elder Pei attended Falling Cloud Sect’s grand competition while seeking talented younger cultivators for Heaven Sect. After Duan Gang displayed Spirit Master Realm strength at age thirty-two, Pei praised his talent and maneuvered for Falling Cloud Sect to surrender him to Heaven Sect. 930

Duan Gang accepted the offer and was made an inner disciple. He retained his Falling Cloud Sect status and received a purple-gold identity token that allowed entry into Heaven Sect and contained a route map to its headquarters. 931

Sealed-land expedition

Elder Pei assembled elite inner disciples after an ancient seal in a Secret Realm began consuming nearby life and caused a sect guard’s disappearance. The sect offered substantial rewards for investigating the anomaly. 951

Inside the seal, the disciples encountered materialized time rules capable of instantly aging and killing those who touched them. Many participants realized that a large proportion of the group consisted of recruits from outside sects or overlooked Heaven Sect disciples, leading them to conclude that they had been sent as expendable probes. 954

After the expedition, Heaven Sect rewarded Jiang Fan, Zeng Yang, Jiang Zhuoxi, and Duan Gang with Spirit Stones, medicines, pills, Library Pavilion and Enlightenment Chamber access, cave-residence selection, unrestricted Enlightenment Peak entry, and the promise of elder status upon reaching the Venerable Realm. 989

Mystic Heaven Realm Sect Ranking Tournament

Heaven Sect entered the once-per-decade Sect Ranking Tournament under Elder Pei’s leadership. The tournament determined sect prestige, recruitment appeal, and access to limited quotas in ancient secret realms, ruins, and resource sites. 993 996

Pei assigned Duan Gang, Zeng Yang, and Jiang Zhuoxi to a Special Tactics Group. Although publicly described as a surprise force, the group’s actual assigned role was to exhaust opposing elites and create opportunities for Heaven Sect’s loyalist disciples. 996 1009 1010

The sect opened strongly, placing sixth in the first-round Hundred Sects Melee with 29 Battle Tokens and 290 points. 1007 It later faced Red Firmament Sect in the troop-deployment round. Duan Gang killed the early Venerable Realm Zhao Wuji with a single finger, winning his group’s match for Heaven Sect. 1013 1014

Despite this victory, Elder Pei withheld Duan Gang from the final hundred-person melee, fearing that his performance would attract the Hidden Dragon Ranking’s selectors and place him beyond Heaven Sect’s control. 1019 Heaven Sect ultimately finished twenty-seventh with 900 points—its worst recorded result—and suffered reduced future resource allocation and prestige. 1021

Loss of Duan Gang

Duan Gang was selected tenth for the Hidden Dragon Ranking after the tournament. 1022 He later placed first in the assessment and received an invitation from Zixiao Zhenren to become both an inner disciple and personal disciple of Mystic Heaven Holy Land. 1036 1038

Before departing, Jiang Fan arranged for Zeng Yang and Jiang Zhuoxi to accompany him to the Holy Land as Servant Disciples, ending their association with Heaven Sect. 1040 1041
