Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ungraded Spirit Field | 7 20 | Fields not built near Spirit Veins are ungraded. A Spirit Farmer who masters the Thick Earth Art can gradually cultivate one into a first-grade field. |
| First-tier / first-rank Spirit Field | 7 36 43 | Old Huang cultivated one of his ten mu into a first-rank field and received two minor merits. Ranked fields are required for Spirit Fruit Trees to blossom and bear fruit. |
| Mid-grade Second-tier Spirit Fields | 215 | Ji An used Spirit Binding Stakes and Five Elements Spirit Soil to establish boundaries and upgrade 48 mu around Cold Pool, Crimson Cloud Pine Forest, and an underground cavern. |
| Third-tier Mid-grade Spirit Field | 683 | A field deliberately raised to this grade still could not sustain a third-tier high-grade Soul Nurturing Wood. |
| Fourth Order Low-Grade Spirit Fields | 914 | Yin-Yang transformation was expected to raise an entire region’s fields to the grade of its main node, creating additional fourth-order low-grade fields. |
Background
New Golden Spirit Sect disciples assigned to Azure Water Lake for Spiritual Grain Farming received the Minor Cloud and Rain Art and Thick Earth Art, the basic Farming Spells required of Spirit Farmers. Their first spell manuals supported only the initial levels of those arts. 4
At the beginning of Qi Condensation, Spirit Farmers still relied on manual tools. Ji An was told that low-grade magical farming artifacts were only a transitional measure until his spell proficiency became high enough to replace mortal-style labor. 6
Old Huang demonstrated the basic cultivation cycle: burn weeds and insect nests with the Blazing Fire Spell, redistribute uneven spiritual energy with tools or the Thick Earth Art, sow seeds with the Object Control Art, then nourish the field again. 7
Ji An’s early half-mu field produced 121 jin of Spirit Grain. Under ideal conditions, a half-mu field managed with third-layer Farming Spells could yield 130 jin. 20
Cultivation Mechanics
Spiritual-Energy Distribution
Spirit Fields can develop patches of excessive spiritual-energy accumulation alongside barren areas. Both conditions hinder Spirit Grain and medicinal herbs from absorbing spiritual energy effectively. 7
- Spirit-Shaking Hoe — agitates congested spiritual energy. 7
- Spirit-Combing Rake — combs spiritual power into a more even distribution. 7
- Thick Earth Art — replaces manual leveling at sufficient proficiency, improves soil fertility, and can gradually raise an ungraded field’s rank. 7
Farming Spells
A capable Spirit Farmer must work with multiple Five Elements Farming Spells rather than relying on a single technique. The foundational set includes water, earth, wood, fire, and metal spells. 6
- Minor Cloud and Rain Art — provides spirit rain; at perfection, it can shorten spiritual plants’ maturation time. 34 75
- Thick Earth Art / Thick Earth Return Origin Spell — nourishes and restores soil while regulating its spiritual-energy distribution. 7 243
- Wither and Flourish Art — extracts Wood Element energy from plants, but may leave vegetation drained of fertility. 14 215
- Blazing Fire Spell — destroys weeds, roots, and pests; the remains can become fertilizer. 7
- Azure Dragon Water Moon Art — combines Water and Wood intent, producing nourishing rain and vigorous growth in spirit orchards. 516 554
Soil Specialization
Second-tier and higher spiritual plants develop requirements for suitable soil. Transforming a field toward a single elemental type improves the growth efficiency of plants sharing that attribute. 444
- Crimson Cloud Pine Forest and the Fire Element Spirit Plant Garden were transformed into red soil suited to Fire Element cultivation. 444
- Fire Crystal Ants can contribute red sand for Fire Element field transformation. 444
- Dense planting can overburden even a low-grade Second-tier Spirit Field and damage its supporting Spirit Vein if left unsustainable. 208
Threats and Maintenance
- Birds — large flocks around Azure Water Lake can rapidly consume Spirit Grain; poorer Spirit Farmers may have to guard fields personally rather than purchase defensive puppets. 20
- Insect plagues — Black Aphids threatened unprotected fields across the sect and could temporarily resist fire damage. 322
- Overplanting — high-tier plants require more than Farming Spells alone; plant density must remain within the field and Spirit Vein’s capacity. 208
- Life-draining spells — plants exhausted by Entangle Art do not produce fertile ash when burned, requiring subsequent restoration through the Thick Earth Return Origin Spell. 215
- Formation protection — fields without protective formations are particularly vulnerable during insect outbreaks. 322
Major Locations
| Location | Spirit Field activity |
|---|---|
| Azure Water Lake | Ji An and Liu Yu were assigned here for Spiritual Grain Farming; Ji An cultivated his earliest fields nearby. 4 20 |
| Crimson Flame Peak | Ji An developed Spirit Fields for varied elemental plants, including mulberries, pines, Azure Dragon Wood, and Earth Spirit Fruit Trees. 215 221 |
| Gourd World | Ji An maintains wood-element fields, spiritual plants, fish, and Spirit Veins within his small world. 655 702 |
| Sunrise Peak / Crimson Flame Peak region | Ji An assumed management of one hundred thousand mu of sect Spirit Fields during the True Demon Tribulation. 752 |
| Cloud Yang Valley | The sect developed the valley as part of its long-term foundation, with Spirit Fields and Spirit Plants supporting future growth. 868 |
Economy and Administration
Spirit Grain farming provides modest but stable income: after costs, cultivators may earn only two or three Spirit Stones per mu each month. Experienced Spirit Farmers supplement this by growing Talisman Grass and making talisman paper. 114
The Department of Agriculture’s expansion supported Pill Cauldron Pavilion, Talisman Crafting Hall, Puppet Hall, Artifact Refining Hall, and other sect divisions. 683
Ordinary employed Spirit Farmers receive ten percent of a field’s profits. When Ji An took over one hundred thousand mu with Nascent Soul-level Farming Spells, the sect set his share at twenty percent because his methods greatly improved yields and shortened growth cycles. 752
