Disguised as a glide
Don't be fooled by the fact that in that Superman movie and Supergirl TV series, it seemed like two Kryptonian had to exert every ounce of their strength to save the large passenger plane.
In fact, with the strength of two Kryptonian, lifting the weight of a passenger plane would be a piece of cake. They could do it with one hand.
The challenge lies in maintaining the aircraft's overall integrity!
Just like in another satirical superhero TV series, the Boys, Homelander's scandalous plane crash illustrates what could actually happen.
As Homelander states in the show, the result of a superhero with only strength and the ability to fly trying to lift an airplane is...
It means the plane will be cut in half at the lift-off point.
Because of the aircraft's design, it's impossible for any single point on the fuselage to bear the entire weight of the aircraft. It's like trying to lift tofu with the tip of a needle.
The constipated expressions on the two Kryptonian were actually due to the use of Biological Force Field to protect the entire aircraft, not a lack of strength.
Compared to the other two, one was facing a plane nose-down, almost free-falling situation, and possibly even had the engines still assisting in preventing a crash.
The other scenario involves an aircraft that has stalled and is rolling sideways. The aircraft's flight attitude must be corrected from the wings, while simultaneously ensuring a smooth landing in the river.
Henry's task was much simpler.
First, the size of the aircraft. The other one is clearly a large passenger plane; I won't go into the specific model and capacity, but it's at least two hundred people. However, Henry's plane is just a small jet airliner with twenty seats.
Secondly, the problem faced by the two Kryptonian was that their plane had gone out of control and crashed, even entering free fall.
Henry's small passenger plane was still gliding. It was just that the cabin depressurization was causing some instability in its flight attitude. The symptoms were still in the early stages and had not yet reached the later stages of being out of control.
Furthermore, Henry did not actually lift the plane with his hands, but rather used his entire back and limbs to increase the contact area with the plane. All of these factors reduced the difficulty he faced.
Simply put, Henry didn't use his personal strength to prevent a plane crash. He simply used himself as an external engine to control the direction of the plane.
An aircraft's ability to maintain flight largely depends on its own structure and design.
When everyone in the cabin realized that the plane had indeed stabilized, they were all speechless with surprise. Mark asked anxiously, "Are we saved?"
"Everything is still uncertain until this big thing hits the ground," Brian said, not giving a definitive answer.
He quickly untied the ropes binding him and said, "Henry, can you really hear me?"
The small passenger plane swayed slightly from side to side twice.
Brian, having received a response, said, "Very good." He also understood that this man had asked them to keep the secret.
It's not just big, it's huge.
What does the ability to lift a flying aircraft at this altitude signify?
This means he could at least carry a heavy bomb weighing several thousand pounds, fly over to the target, and drop it! Even dropping a nuclear bomb wouldn't be impossible.
However, the immediate issue wasn't the opponent's capabilities; ensuring a safe landing was paramount. So, Brian, carrying the map, went to the cockpit and knocked. "Luca, open the door. It's Brian. The pressure in the rear cabin has stabilized."
The cockpit door opened immediately, and the Italian captain asked in surprise, "What just happened?"
After briefly explaining the situation, Brian continued, "If we want to conceal Henry's abilities, we must disguise the aircraft as being able to glide."
"Given these conditions, where do you think we can land? Should we still aim for the original target U.S. military base?"
What is your judgment?
Brian has a broad range of knowledge, and he could roughly make a judgment on the question just now. However, he still needed to consult the captain's opinion, after all, the captain was the real expert in this field.
Reach out and turn off the walkie-talkie so that your words won't be recorded.
Italian Captain Luca said, "Given the descent rate of gliding flight, at our current altitude, it's unlikely we'll reach that U.S. military base. We'll have to find another place to land nearby, or even make an emergency landing in the desert."
After nodding, Brian said to the air, "Henry, I believe you heard me too. But I suggest you follow our instructions; at least we're still under ground radar surveillance."
"What If...? you don't want to expose yourself, disguising the aircraft as a gliding flight without power is the easiest way to explain it. Remember, the left and right tilt angle should not exceed three degrees, and the left and right turns should ideally not exceed one and a half degrees; three degrees is the limit."
"Taking Flight 143 as an example, their descent rate was 600 feet per minute. Although that was data for large passenger planes and we are a small passenger plane, this data is basically applicable."
"Because the descent rate of a glider is not so much related to the size and weight of the aircraft, but rather to the aspect ratio, which is the square of the wingspan divided by the wing area."
"The lift provided by the wings of passenger aircraft must basically comply with aviation regulations. That is to say, whether it is a large passenger aircraft or a small passenger aircraft, the rate of descent is similar when gliding without power."
"Then remember, do not perform any G-force flight maneuvers. Just pay attention to the adjustment limits for gliding flight, and follow the captain's instructions. He will guide the aircraft to land."
"But for the final step, which is landing on the ground, we can only rely on you. Without ground lighting guidance, we can't offer much assistance in terms of directions."
"In practice, we can only gamble on this part. The ideal situation is to conduct a descent in desert terrain and use the sand to slow down the enemy."
"You must remember one thing: the better the plane is maintained, the safer we will be, and the instruments on the plane will also help rescue teams find us."
"Do you understand what I'm saying, Henry?"
The plane swayed slightly from side to side twice, signaling to the people holding it that they had heard.
Sitting in the co-pilot's seat, Brian said, "Alright, Henry, we'll now begin the gliding maneuvers. Please follow the captain's instructions."
"I'll be watching the gauges. What If...? your movements are too big or too small, I'll warn you. Brother, the lives of seven of us are in your hands. Begin."
The Italian captain reconnected the radio and began reporting to air traffic control, "Saudi Approach, this is T96H."
Mayday, Mayday. The aircraft has run out of fuel and is now gliding without power.
The captain immediately received a response from ground air traffic control via his headset, and both sides then began a series of self-rescue operations led by the captain.
It's just not the dire situation outsiders imagine, because Kryptonian are providing support.
