A Hectic Schedule of Events
When Henry accompanied Audrey Hepburn, along with United Nations Children's Fund staff, they visited United Nations -aided child protection agencies again. These agencies were not limited to the Africa continent; impoverished countries in South Asia, Central America, and South America were also on the list.
This time, neither Ms. Hepburn nor the United Nations personnel dared to split up and act as they had done before when they went to areas with concerns about war.
The entire process was accompanied and protected by peacekeeping troops, as well as a private security team provided by the insurance company.
The collaboration with Brian Mills and others was limited to that unsuccessful visit to Somalia. For each subsequent visit, he mostly worked with different security teams, without sticking with any one team.
It's not that they don't want to settle down, it's just that for this kind of task-based work, both parties' schedules need to be compatible for them to be able to work together. Some people, on the other hand, won't think about going back to work until they've squandered all the money they've earned.
Therefore, if you want to maintain a stable security team, you need to sign a long-term contract with them. Even on days when they are not operating in Africa, they will still charge you.
Given that these teams are provided by insurance companies, these business people certainly wouldn't want to pay unnecessary fees. So they have no choice but to work with a different team each time.
Fortunately, Ms. Hepburn's security arrangements were quite simple, mainly with United Nations personnel at the forefront. Even in the chaos of Africa...
These Old Black didn't dare to easily provoke the peacekeeping forces wearing blue hats.
It's even simpler when you go to places outside of Africa; the local government can send police or military personnel to protect you.
The case in Somalia was an exceptional case among exceptional cases.
Moreover, after Henry and his companions fled, the Africa country erupted into a full-blown Civil War, with various warlords rising up. In other words, Ms. Hepburn was unlucky enough to enter the country on the eve of the Civil War.
It is common knowledge that the early stages of any major upheaval are when the most eccentric individuals emerge. After several rounds of natural selection, those mentally unstable oddballs will be eliminated, or they will grow so large that normal people will know to avoid them.
This is why some people would take advantage of a Hollywood star's absence from United Nations protection to attempt to kidnap him.
Generally speaking, United Nations- organized events are quite reliable, especially in terms of security. After all, Ms. Hepburn is their icon, and if that icon were tarnished, it would be a very serious matter of face.
What If...? it were the five permanent members of the United Nations slamming their fists on the table, they would stand at attention without question. But a bunch of Old Black from the Third World dare to disrespect the United Nations! This is truly intolerable.
According to Henry's private dealings with people in the peacekeeping force, shortly after the incident in Somalia, peacekeeping troops entered southern Somalia for live-fire exercises.
I've heard that area is now the most peaceful place in the country, which is currently embroiled in Civil War.
However, one of the main reasons Audrey Hepburn felt so at ease was, of course, the presence of her assistant, Henry. A special person who could fly and was bulletproof would always be reassuring.
As for the level of skill required to lift a small passenger plane into flight, Ms. Hepburn wasn't entirely clear on the significance. What If...? she had discussed it with someone else, they could have explained the difficulty involved.
Although Henry didn't specifically ask Hepburn to keep it a secret, Audrey respected her assistant's wishes and never revealed a word about the experience to outsiders. When asked, she gave only the standard public relations response.
As for the other abilities he displayed during the evacuation, such as his driving and marksmanship supported by advanced senses, they might have aroused the suspicion of the observant Brian. But those were still within the realm of normal people, or simply the result of good luck, so no one paid attention.
In any case, having Henry by her side certainly made Audrey Hepburn's job much easier.
The woman hadn't considered pressuring Henry to do anything more important or greater. After all, what he was doing now was assisting the United Nations in providing aid to children in the Third World—could there be anything more important or greater?
Jumping into the battlefield between two armies and directly persuading both sides to cease hostilities? Audrey Hepburn didn't think Henry could do such a thing. So helping him was a good thing, at least it was much better than being a minor actor in Hollywood.
Or perhaps this little assistant was just too useful, as Henry took care of most of the trivial matters during the visit.
Audrey Hepburn would simply arrive at a location, play with the children, and have her picture taken. The rest of her daily work consisted of reviewing the initial reports prepared by Henry and making minor revisions.
After several reviews, Ms. Hepburn simply stopped making changes. She read it once, found no problems, signed it, and submitted it as the official report.
After concluding his visit, he returned to New York and submitted a report to the United Nations. He also regularly attended fundraising banquets, swindling large sums of money from wealthy individuals.
Then Henry finally understood Givenchy's criticism of Audrey Hepburn for being too crazy came from.
Each trip between third-world countries and New York, a complete cycle, would take more than half a month. Ms. Hepburn could make two or three such trips in a row before returning to her home in Switzerland for a rest for a week or two, and then setting off again.
To make people aware of Hepburn Hepburn's hectic schedule, the nickname "model worker" would have appeared two or three decades earlier.
Even at home, Ms. Hepburn was never idle. She loved gardening and reading, both time-consuming activities. Gardening, in particular, required not only time but also physical effort.
Henry wasn't able to rest just because Ms. Hepburn had returned to her home in Switzerland. The job he had initially applied for still required...
One of the tasks is to be a driver.
So he got a small room of his own in that beautiful villa. He drove for the lady when she went out, and otherwise stayed in the villa doing assistant work.
Even though Hepburn has retired from acting, she still has quite a few people in regular contact with her.
The main focus, of course, was on the United Nations Children's Fund staff. Others included female industry managers.
There are also managers who invest funds.
If I have any free time, I help the lady tend to the flowers and plants. Since I can only return to Switzerland once every one or two months, tidying up the flower garden and courtyard takes up a lot of time.
These tasks were all very easy for Henry; with a series of Kryptonian abilities, he could complete them in the blink of an eye, and they didn't take much time either.
The essence of gardening in flowerbeds and courtyards is not the result, but the process of patiently tending to it. Therefore, Henry did not overstep his bounds and finish everything for Ms. Hepburn.
Since Henry could still squeeze out some free time at night, he simply moved his computer to his Los Angeles apartment, still paying the rent every month and not canceling the lease, and started working on some software programs.
Incidentally, Linu, following the established pattern, appeared on the newsgroup in August of that year and uploaded it to the FTP server of Helsinki University of Technology in September.
The main change is that the release wasn't just the core. Instead, it partnered with a contributor from the Joker BBS to integrate some GNU components, creating a free executable operating system.
This can be considered a faster pace. Henry, using the username CK, joined this open-source and shared software development feast.
However, unlike others, he couldn't spend all his time on BBS forums interacting with people. He was just a reclusive expert who would occasionally release a Linux-based component.
At the end of 1991, shocking news broke in the business world: Howard Stark and his wife had died in a car accident!
