Interlude
Just as the female officer guarding the passage grew impatient, slapping her rifle butt, the Bullhead Mecha stepped out from behind. "Soldier, he's with me, so we don't need to check him, right?"
Upon seeing that it was the metal Minotaur had repeatedly assisted in defending the position, the female officer composed herself. "Checking for bites from Zombies is my responsibility. Just because he's your comrade doesn't make an exception."
Without a word, the Bullhead Mecha raised its machine gun auxiliary arm on its back and slung the rotary machine gun over its shoulder. A burst of fire immediately followed, the sound of gunfire ringing out incessantly.
All the bullets bounced off the Green Arrow Duck, even sending Mars flying.
After firing more than ten shots, the Bullhead Mecha stopped attacking. It then looked at the group of female U.S. military officers. "Look," it said, "What If...? a Zombies could bite through that armor, you wouldn't be safe even hiding Kree today. But things aren't that bad, are they?"
The female officer waved her hand dismissively and let the person in. She had witnessed their firepower during their previous cooperation. If their defenses were also at this level, her rifle wouldn't pose a threat at all. She simply let them go.
After entering the restricted area, Green Arrow Duck looked at the groups of people gathered under the streetlights. Before he could even ask the Bullhead Mecha, another voice called out, "Jill, you guys are here too!"
Jill Valentine looked up at the voice and saw her colleague from S. R. "Peyton! I didn't expect to see you here. I thought you had left the city with your men."
A veteran Black police officer walked over, his hands tucked into the shoulder straps of his bulletproof vest. "The situation is just as that duck predicted: another U.S. military has blocked the roads leading to Raccoon City."
"It seems even the commander of this U.S. military doesn't know about this. Apparently, someone saw the two commanders arguing, but I don't know if that's true."
Jill Valentine recalled the warning the Duck Plushie had given her in front of the Police Station. She looked surprised. "Someone really locked down the city?" "Yes. They say there's a biological crisis here. No one is allowed to leave Raccoon City until the outbreak is confirmed to be completely eradicated. Any good news from your side?"
Just as Jill Valentian and the others were about to speak, their attention was drawn to a commotion nearby. A man was lying on the ground convulsing. A young girl was clinging to him, protecting him. "Daddy, Daddy, what's wrong?"
Armed soldiers rushed towards the location. Some nearby civilians desperately tried to get away, while others approached shouting, "Drive the infected out!"
Seeing the disturbance escalating, Peyton Wells, Jill Valentine, and several police officers present immediately rushed over to maintain order. "Don't come any closer! Everyone, don't come any closer! Give us some space!"
The girl who shielded the man shouted in unison, "My father is fine, he just has a heart condition."
Besides people cursing and running away, some on the periphery tried to get a better look at the situation and desperately pushed forward. The scene was incredibly chaotic, and even U.S. military soldiers couldn't get close.
The growing crowd forced the police officers maintaining order to move further in. The group was just shouting pointlessly. However, the man who had collapsed wasn't suffering from a heart attack; he was infected with an airborne virus and was now entering the final stage of turning into Zombies.
Once an infected person enters this stage, the transformation is completed rapidly. The man's eyes turned a cloudy white, and he opened his mouth to bite into the nearest piece of fresh flesh—his terrified daughter.
At the critical moment, the Green Arrow Duck's webbed feet blocked the Zombies's teeth, almost breaking them all.
With one hand, he scooped up the Zombies old man. Anyone who had escaped here would immediately notice the change in the man, and they all gasped and tried to back away. Some even hid in the crowd shouting things like "Kill him!"
The daughter, terrified because she was being targeted, was pulled away by the Black police officer Peyton Wells. The U.S. military soldiers finally arrived at that moment, raising their guns to fire.
Green Arrow Duck quickly reached out to stop him. "Wait, don't shoot!"
"Why! He's already turned, he's beyond saving. Not killing him puts everyone in danger." The U.S. military soldier, gun raised, shouted. "Hey, soldier. I need to go upstairs to study the Zombies Antidote. You killed my experimental sample, so go catch one for me?" The U.S. military soldier was taken aback by Green Arrow Duck's words, unsure whether to insist.
The man, now Zombies, struggled constantly, trying to grab the living people around him, but he remained firmly controlled by the Duck Plushie. The soldier lowered his gun and sternly warned, "You'd better keep an eye on him and don't let him hurt anyone."
"Of course. So, can you let me through?" Looking at the crowd of people blocking his way from all sides, Green Arrow Duck asked the U.S. military soldier standing in front of him.
Perhaps it was because he was holding a Zombies, which looked particularly frightening, that people around him unconsciously moved away from Green Arrow Duck, leaving a large empty space around him.
Holding the daughter of the man turned Zombies, Peyton Wells asked the Duck Plushie, "What If...? you were to research Antidote, could you cure him?" Green Arrow Duck simply replied coldly, "Treat him like Deadman. Don't hold onto any hope."
"I want to go up with you!" the girl cried, wanting to stay by her father's side.
"Those who have no connection to this have no right to come along." That one sentence silenced any thoughts the girl might have.
The Green Arrow Duck remained as aloof as ever, but he was even worse than when they had encountered him outside. The three women following behind thought this, but none of them gave up on keeping up with him.
Seeing that the person had already walked away, Jill Valentine quickly instructed her colleague, "Peyton, take care of the kid. I'll go check on him." The older black policeman waved his hand, as if to say he understood.
Catching up with the Duck Plushie that continued on its way, Jill Valentian glared at the man with displeasure. "Why were you acting like that? That girl was just worried about her father. Couldn't you have said a few words of comfort to her?"
They wanted to argue with the tough girl from the SWAT, but their group was stopped again. An Old Bai man, dressed smartly and clearly quite old, blocked their way, but they didn't dare to get too close.
He adopted an arrogant, elite demeanor. "I know the X-Men's plane is up in the building. Take me up there and we'll leave, and I'll pay you." "Get lost! I don't want your money." Green Arrow Duck considered the feasibility of throwing the Zombies he was holding at the other man.
"One million! That's all I have."
Seeing that the other party couldn't even feign a pained expression, how could Green Arrow Duck believe that his net worth was only one million? Nevertheless, he still extended his other free hand, as if beckoning the other party over.
The man stepped forward smugly, while the others harbored resentment and harbored ulterior motives. Regardless of their thoughts, before they could speak, the Old Bai man who had stepped forward was placed on the shoulder and neck by the Duck Leopard armor—Duck Type.
With a sudden "thud," the Old Bai man collapsed to the ground, convulsing and foaming at the mouth. The Green Arrow Duck's outstretched hand still crackled with the blue light of electricity.
"I don't have a million to give you, only fifty thousand, in volts. Is that better? What If...? you can still understand human language, I'll repeat my answer one more time: Get out!"
