Avoidance
The Stark funeral was solemn and somber. Nothing out of the ordinary happened; at least, no one popped up claiming to be the Old Man Stark's illegitimate son and demanding a share of the inheritance.
Catherine actually wanted to talk to Tony, but she never had the chance.
It's not that there are too many people gathered around the future head of Stark Industries, making it impossible to get a number. It's that they can't even find anyone.
No matter who wants to speak, there's nothing they can do.
Tony only saw her when he was helping his mother with her coffin and during the final burial. Once the ceremony was over, she disappeared without a trace.
Henry didn't deliberately use his Super Senses to find people, since even if he did find them, he didn't know what they could do.
Are we afraid that this rebellious young master might blow up his own parents' graves? Even if he did, it's not Henry's business; it's their family affair.
Seeing that there was no chance to talk, and feeling somewhat tired, she realized that she had only arrived in New York late last night and had gotten up exceptionally early this morning, spending most of the day on the go. This was far beyond what was expected of Catherine, who was over eighty years old.
So Catherine found JARVIS, greeted him, and prepared to leave, even though he was entitled to attend the upcoming funeral feast.
However, Audrey and Henry, who accompanied her to pay their respects, were not close enough to the Stark Family. The funeral banquet was only for family relatives or close friends, so Catherine simply left with Audrey.
Henry couldn't say what Howard Stark's posthumous reputation was. But the funeral, which dragged on until the afternoon, was gloomy and even drizzled, as if even the heavens were mourning the passing of this man.
Henry, holding a large umbrella, walked behind the two Hepburn ladies, shielding them from the drizzle, until they reached their cars in the parking lot.
After seeing the two women into the car, Henry took off his suit jacket before getting in, gave it a slight shake to remove the raindrops, and then sat in the driver's seat.
No sooner had I settled into my seat than someone barged into the passenger seat.
This car is rented! Otherwise, Henry would have punched him and the car door flying.
"Let's drive." Tony Stark sat in the passenger seat, burying himself in it.
He spoke in a weak and listless manner, reminiscent of the two fresh flowers he held in front of the two coffins buried in the earth.
One flower should be placed on each coffin, but this young master seemed to be using all his last bit of stubbornness to place two flowers on his mother's coffin.
This undignified behavior caused great distress to those close to him and those who knew him well.
So even though he was almost nowhere to be seen during the entire funeral ceremony, no one really blamed him. Because only Tony Stark remained of the Stark Family.
Now that he has suddenly appeared and is ordering Henry around to drive, the Kryptonian is unsure whether to be angry and kick him out, or to sympathize with him.
Fortunately, his boss and his old best friend made the decision. Catherine didn't care at all about the impact of the only member of the bereaved family disappearing from the funeral. He simply patted Henry on the shoulder from the back seat and said:
"Let's go. Let's find somewhere to eat something. I'm so angry after listening to those people's insincere speeches all day."
As soon as it was over, I realized I was still hungry.
"Would you like anything to eat?" Henry asked as he fastened his seatbelt.
"It's your decision, child. Just don't let me go hungry for too long; an old person can't stand being hungry like that."
"Okay. Please fasten your seatbelts, everyone. We're about to depart." Henry deliberately chose a car with seatbelts in the back seats for the safety of the two ladies.
Although Henry was confident that he wouldn't hit anyone while driving, sometimes it's impossible to prevent or stop someone from hitting you, so it's still necessary to have proper safety precautions.
However, the main target of this reminder was the person sitting in the passenger seat. But seeing that he looked like he wanted to put his feet up on the dashboard, Henry gave up on telling this young master what to do and what not to do.
With a turn of the steering wheel and a press of the accelerator, the car smoothly drove away. Of course, no one noticed that Tony Stark was in the car.
Since someone was saying they were hungry, and Henry himself was indeed hungry, he didn't plan to drive all the way back to New York City to find a restaurant for his late lunch.
Speeding is unacceptable. Not only is it dangerous, but it can also result in fines. As a law-abiding Kryptonian, Henry stopped at a family-run restaurant along the way to have a meal.
This wasn't the first family-run restaurant they encountered by the roadside, but it was one that Henry, with his exceptional sense of smell, felt should taste pretty good.
No matter how hungry he was, Henry didn't want to torture his sense of taste, as long as he had the opportunity. Fortunately, his super sense of smell guided him, greatly reducing the risk of trying new restaurants.
Neither of the two big stars had the pretentious habit of only eating at five-star restaurants. As for Tony Stark, he was like a walking corpse; when everyone else got off the bus, he followed suit.
Tony seemed to want to run away and had no intention of eating. However, with Catherine there, she grabbed the young man's arm and wouldn't let go, so Tony couldn't just walk away.
It was already afternoon, past the peak dining time, so there weren't many people in the restaurant.
The group found a place to sit down, and a waitress brought over a coffee pot, poured a cup of hot coffee for each of them, and presented them with menus.
"What would you like to eat?" Catherine asked. The person she was addressing was none other than the utterly dejected young master.
Tony didn't refuse to eat; he just leaned his head against the large window and said weakly, "Cheeseburger."
Catherine beckoned to the waitress and said, "I'd like a peach pie, and a cheeseburger for him."
Audrey continued, "Apple."
"A steak, a spicy sausage, honey pancakes, fried chicken nuggets, fried bacon, three fried eggs, and a serving of mashed potatoes."
Henry's extravagant order not only startled the waitress, but Catherine also showed the same expression. Even Tony Stark, who was originally immersed in sadness, looked at him with disdain, as if to say, "You're such an idiot."
Only Audrey seemed unfazed.
Henry, without a shred of guilt, said, "What? I'm still developing, is that a problem?"
Tony leaned back against the window with an even more resigned expression, not wanting to utter a single complaint.
The food was served quickly.
Since it was past lunchtime, the two ladies only had a little something in their stomachs so they wouldn't get too hungry. They picked up their forks, cut the pies and tarts into small pieces, and ate them slowly and deliberately.
Young Master Stark still looked like he had no appetite; the hamburger was right in front of him, but he didn't touch it.
But Henry, with the table piled high with food, didn't stand on ceremony. As if deliberately making noise, he swiftly cut the food on his plate with his knife and fork, then stuffed it all into his mouth and chewed.
